    An Interpretable Framework for Predicting Type 2 Diabetes using ML and Explainable AI

    Diabetes Mellitus is an incurable disease and stands as a major universe cause of destruction. With the universal prevalence of diabetes increasing rapidly, accurate detection and identification of the disease have become crucial. In this paper, we present an explainable AI-based diabetes indicative methodology that is carefully constructed, effective, and, most importantly, interpretable. Using two real-world diabetes datasets, the three most well-known machine learning classifiers in the literature - Random Forest (RF), Decision Tree (DT), and XGBoost - were subjected with quantitative assessments. After training and assessment of all classification models, the suggested method achieved the best results in the XGBoost classifier for the Sylhet dataset with 99.4% accuracy and the Pima Indian dataset with 92.59% accuracy. The datasets were normalized across observations to provide standardized values for improved analytical applicability and comparability. Explainable AI has been implemented for the XGBoost machine learning model by generating both global and local explanations using Shapley additive explanations (SHAP) and Local interpretable model-agnostic explanations (LIME). The elements that contribute to diabetes are explained and shown in graphs to help medical professionals make decisions about clinical diagnosis and treatment options.

    EXPLICATING THE SALINITY TOLERANCE OF COWPEA (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp.) GENOTYPES AT SEED

    Cowpea is an important food and fodder legume in the arid and semi-arid tropics of the world. Soil salinity adversely affects seed germination, which ultimately reduces crop production. The present study was carried out to screen the cowpea germplasm and identify the salinity tolerant genotypes at the germination stage. Initially, an experiment with five salinity levels (0, 50, 100, 200, and 250 mM of NaCl) was conducted, and the results showed that 200 mM of NaCl concentration could be a sensible salinity stress to assess the salinity tolerance of cowpea genotypes. A total of 29 cowpea genotypes were evaluated under a 200 mM NaCl concentration. Four salinity tolerance indices such as absolute decrease (AD), inhibition index (II), relative salt tolerance (RST), and salt tolerance index (STI) were calculated from germination percentage without stress (GC) and germination with 200 mM NaCl (GS). All the indices showed significant variation in responses to salinity stress among the cowpea genotypes. The results revealed that salinity stress significantly reduced the germinating percentage in cowpea. Total seven cowpea genotypes (G4, G9, G12, G15, G26, G27, and G32) were found to be salinity tolerant lines at the germination stage. The seven genotypes were clustered in the same group which had the higher RST (G4: 0.58, G9: 0.80, G12: 0.50, G15: 0.60, G26: 0.50, G27: 0.60, and G32: 0.80) and STI (G4: 0.58, G9: 0.80, G12: 0.50, G15: 0.60, G26: 0.50, G27: 0.60, and G32: 0.79) under salinity stress. However, this is a preliminary screening against salinity at the germination stage, and further research is required at the seedling vegetative and reproductive stages for validation.

    MODELLING OF A SMALL SCALE SMART REAL ESTATE PROJECT OF 50 DECIMAL PROTOTYPE-LAND: TRANSFORMATION INTO SMART CITY FOCUSING DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

    Implementation of the smart city concept now becomes a global challenge across the world. Countries like Singapore, South Korea, and Malaysia have already taken initiatives to transform few of their places and states into smart cities. Most of the countries are still researching on how to implement the cutting-edge advanced technology in urbanization. In this article, a technical investigation is made is on seven multinational companies that are working on various projects on smart cities in different countries. Moreover, research on smart city features has been conducted on three countries namely Singapore, Berlin and Seoul. Next, the entire smart city concept has been segmented into four parts, the details of which have been provided in infographic format. After that, focusing developing countries, Bangladesh has been used as a reference country and the regulatory clauses and facility requirements have been explored and given. Based on that 2D and 3D modelling of a real state land of 50 decimal in a place of Bangladesh owned by Matribhumi Developer and Properties Limited have been designed in accordance with the model town rules and regulations of the government bodies of the country. Lastly, the entire small scale prototype project has been modelled into Smart City with IoT, Sensors, Distributed Renewables, Smart Communication and other essential parts. Other features such as road mapping, traffic circulation, sustainable and renewable platforms, environmental management and smart building management network have been proposed for that smart city with limitations and future work.
