Item An Empirical Machine Translation Framework for Translating Bangla Imperative, Optative and Exclamatory Sentences into English(IEEE, 13-May-2016) Alamgir, Tanzina; Arefin, Mohammed Safayet; Hoque, Mohammed MoshiulA set of Context Sensitive Grammar (CSG) rules to translate Bangla imperative, optative and exclamatory sentences into English are introduced in this paper. In this paper, sentences are considered according to the function and purpose of the user rather than structure of the sentence. Three algorithms are implemented to complete major three steps of machine translation system (i.e., parsing, transfer and generation). The experimental results shows that the performance of the proposed machine translation framework is quite appeasement and efficiency is compared with Google Translator for some selected sentences which are quite satisfactoryItem Bangla Numeral Recognition Engine (BNRE)(IEEE, 20-Dec-2008) Hoque, Mohammed Moshiul; Karim, Md. Rezaul; Hossain, Md. Gahangir; Arefin, Md. Shamsul; Hasan, Md. Monjur-Ul-Numeral recognition is the process to classify the given character according to the predefined character class. This paper proposed a methodology for recognizing Bangla handwritten numerals which are based on fuzzy logic theory due to its low computational requirement. Every numeral is segmented and several features are extracted for each segment. In this paper, we use unique fuzzy rule base for each numeral. We have tested our engine for Bangla numerals considering various writing style and got more than 80% recognition accuracy.Item Cognitive Radio in GSM(Bangladesh Electronics Society: Rajshahi, Bangladesh, 27-Jun-2008) Khastagir, Shaibal; Ullah, M. Ahsan; Shikder, Md. Abu Al Syeed; Hoque, Mohammed MoshiulThe current wireless world is indeed a realm of GSM (Global System for mobile communication). To keep pace with the brisk & accelerated world of wireless technology, we need to pay our attention to improve its capacity, coverage, service & performance. So we must adopt some chic & dapper approaches to make it acceptable throughout the increasing mobile subscribers. In this paper we try to emphasize Cognitive Radio (CR) (IEEE 802.22) as a winsome solution to come over the winch of current technologies. We estimated four operators in a small area & try to measure & compare their performance with the existing technologies & shows how they can improve with the execution of cognitive technology.Item Design a Human-Robot Interaction Framework to Detect Household Objects(IEEE, 13-May-2016) Rafsan, Sadi; Arefin, Safayet; Hasan, A. H. M. Mirza Rashedul; Hoque, Mohammed MoshiulIn human-robot interaction scenarios, the ability to identify a single object from multiple objects is an important task for service robots. Although there has been recent progress in this area, it remains difficult for autonomous vision systems to recognize objects in natural conditions. The service robot should detect a particular object according to the user’s demand. This paper describes a human robot interaction framework to detect a particular household object from multiple objects through text based interaction. Haar Cascade Classifiers is used to detect objects and developed a user friendly interface for human-system interaction. The propose framework use color, size, or position information to distinguish the user requested object in multi object scenarios. Evaluation results shows that the system is quite effective to detect the target household object from multiple objects in real time.Item Designing an Empirical Framework to Estimate the Driver’s Attention(IEEE, 13-May-2016) Chowdhury, Priyam; Alam, Lamia; Hoque, Mohammed MoshiulDriver inattention is thought to cause many automobile crashes. Asif; Das, Avishek; Sharif, Omar; Hoque, Mohammed Moshiul; Sarker, Iqbal H.Parts-of-speech (POS) tagging plays an important role in the field of natural language processing (NLP), such as—retrieval of information, machine translation, spelling check, language processing, sentiment analysis, and so on. Many works have been done for Bangla part-of-speech (POS) tagging using machine learning but the result does not enough. It is a matter of fact that not even a single effective research work has been conducted for Bangla POS tagging using deep learning due to a lack of data scarcity. Considering that our context is the Bangla POS tagging employing both machine learning and deep learning approach. In our research, we have compared some well-known supervised POS tagging approaches (Brill, HMM, unigram, bigram, trigram, and recurrent neural network) for Bangla languages. The supervised POS tagging technique requires a large number of data set to tag accurately. That is why we have used a large number of data set for POS tagging of Bangla languages, which will accept a raw Bangla text to produce a Bangla POS tagged output that can be directly used for other NLP applications. After the comparison, we have found the best tagging approach in terms of performance. Bangla is an inflectional language. That is why it is a very much tough job for grammatical categories of Bangla language. But our proposed model works well for Bangla languages.Item International Conference on Electronics, Computer and Communication (ICECC 2008)(Bangladesh Electronics Society: Rajshahi, Bangladesh, 27-Jun-2008) Bangladesh, University of Rajshahi,; Shamsul Arefin, Mohammad; Karim, Rezaul; Aziz, Galib Bin; Zakaria, Sheikh Md.; Khastagir, Shaibal; Ullah, M. AkbarCurrent Mobile Message Editing Analysis and Adopting Customizing Facility in SMS Abstract: Modern days of mobile communication acquainted us with a technology of Short Messaging Service or shortly SMS. It helps the users to interact with other mobile subscriber using short message. This built in technology is not so efficient and offers limited options. The research area in this regard is to make it more efficient and flexible. In case of sending SMS, we do not have the opportunity to customize our message using different font styles. In this paper, the customizing facility has been introduced in case of SMS. The objective is to provide the user a freedom to select different types of font style. This application is very simple to install in every Java supported mobile handsets. The application takes about 200-250 KB storage, which is small enough to store in any java enabled mobile or other hand held devices. It can be regarded that this project work will create a new dimension in SMS service.Item Network Intrusion Detection System Using Fuzzy Logic(Bangladesh Electronics Society: Rajshahi, Bangladesh, 27-Jun-2008) Hoque, Mohammed Moshiul; Karim, Meher-Ul-; Mohit, Kazi Abdul; Ullah, Muhammad AhsanComputer and network security plays an important role in modern communication. An efficient network is free from malicious activities. Today’s network administrators have to pay most of their efforts to make the network secured. This paper presents a network intrusion detection system using fuzzy logic approach. Throughout this paper, we have developed an intrusion detection system that uses fuzzy rules to differentiate normal and abnormal activities. For building fuzzy rules, we use membership function depending on normal activities in network environment. A rule is matched with some degree of membership value. All data are combined and defuzzyfied. We have tested detection system with several datasets with 92% accuracy.Item Real-Time Distraction Detection Based on Driver’s Visual Features(Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, CUET, 7-Feb-2019) Alam, Lamia; Hoque, Mohammed MoshiulDriver’s distraction has been listed as theItem Robotic System for Making Eye Contact Pro-actively with Humans(Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology, 20-Dec-2012) Hoque, Mohammed Moshiul; Deb, KausikMeeting eye contact is a most important prerequisiteItem Talking vs Non-Talking: A Vision Based Approach to Detect Human Speaking Mode(Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, CUET, 7-Feb-2019) Afroze, Sadia; Hoque, Mohammed MoshiulHuman talking mode detection is an important issue
