    This report has been composed as “DETAILED ANALYSIS BY ETABS OF A 530 SQUARE METER RESIDENTIAL BUILDING LOCATED AT DHAKA” .This six storied residential structure is an RCC structure. In this report we planned Column, Beam and Slab. We also calculated the required reinforcement of Column, Beam and Slab. We did all those things with the help of ETABS software and BNBC 1993 code and regulations. By utilizing ETABS software we computed wind load , Earthquake Load , Dead load and Live load.

    Prevalence of Blood Protozoa inDuck at Hakaluki and Tanguar Haor of Sylhet Division in Bangladesh

    The blood protozoa of avian are under the genera Haemoproteus, Plasmodium and Leucocytozoon which causes high mortality of birds and render huge economic losses of the farmers. The present study was undertaken to find out the prevalence of haematozoan parasites in ducks at Hakaluki and Tanguar haor of Sylhet division in Bangladesh. A total of 400 blood samples in summer (n=200) and rainy (n=200) seasons were examined under light microscopy and data on the breed, age, sex, deworming, types of scavanging, types of housing were recorded during the study period. Among the microscopically examined samples, 22% (44/200) duck were found to be infected with different blood protozoa during summer season and 15% (30/200) during rainy season. Of those, 14% (28/200) of birds were infected with Haemoproteus spp., 7% (14/200) with Plasmodium spp. and 10.5% (21/200) with Leucocytozoon spp. during summer season. On the other hand, 8.5% (17/200) of birds were infected with Haemoproteus spp., 11% (22/200) with Plasmodium spp. and 3% (6/ 200) with Leucocytozoon spp. during rainy season. Among the breeds, highest infection was 13.8% (12/87) of ducks (KK) for Haemoproteus spp. during summer season and lowest infection was 0.0% (0/3) of ducks (Muscovy) for Leucocytozoon spp. during both summer and rainy season. Highest infection was 40.0% (6/15) in the birds whose age was less than six months or equal in case of Haemoproteus during summer season and lowest infection was found 0.00% (0/12) in these birds whose age was less than six months or equal in case of Leucocytozoon during rainy season. Non vaccinated duck became more infected than vaccinated. In summer season, highest infection was 14.3% (17/119) in case of Haemoproteus spp. and lowest infection was 1.27 % (1/79) in case of Leucocytozoon spp. during rainy season. Non-dewormed duck became more infected than dewormed duck for both during rainy and summer season. Highest infection was 15.25% (9/59) for Haemoproteus spp. during summer season but lowest was 1.75% (1/57) for Leucocytozoon spp. in rainy season Sick ducks became more infected than healthy duck. Highest infection was 26.32% (5/19) during summer season in case of Haemoproteus and lowest infection was 0.00% (0/15) in case of Leucocytozoon spp. during rainy season. Highest infection was 33.3% (4/12) during summer season in case of household Page | xi scavenging for Haemoproteus and lowest infection was 0.00% (0/4%) in case of Ponds cum wetland for Haemoproteus, Leucocytozoon and Plasmodium during both summer and rainy season. During rainy season, highest infection was 18.97% (11/58) in case of within house for Plasmodium and lowest infection was 0.00% (0/1) in case of yard cum house for Haemoproteus, Leucocytozoon and Plasmodium during both summer and rainy season. There was no statistical significant in the infection rates among the study sites. Two birds were positive for both Haemoproteus spp. and Plasmodium spp. Prevalence of infection varied among different breeds. My research work will help to control of blood protozoa and flock management easily of ducks at haor areas.

    STUDY ON HOUSE-HOLD DUCK REARING SYSTEM AT SOME SELECTED AREAS IN MURADNAGAR UPAZILLA UNDER COMILLA DISTRICT IN BANGLADESH

    This study was carried out to assess the status of household ducks rearing systems at some selected areas (Muradnagar upazilla under Comilla district) of Bangladesh. Beside this, socio-economic conditions of the farmers, feeding system and availability of feed for raising ducks, productive performances of scavenging ducks and profitability of raising those ducks were evaluated. Information was collected by direct interview method using a questionnaire from 20 households (mostly women) that rear ducks in the study area. The level of education of women beneficiaries varied from primary to higher secondary. Most of the duck rearers (15%) were found illiterate. 55% farmers had a patch of cultivable land (Average 20 decimal). The average farm size was 12 and it always remains variable with the duck’s loss attributed to different causes. Around 20% of the farmers reared duck with hen. 40% of the farmers housed their ducks in bamboo made cage while the rest of the farmers kept ducks in house made of wood, tin, straw or mud. The mature ducks were highest (74.2%) in October –December and lowest (45.2%) in April-June. Duck reaches first laying at 6 months of age, produces average 85 eggs per year. Egg production reaches peak during winter especially after crop-harvesting season. Duck consumption by the household especially in winter is highest in Muradnagar Upazilla under Comilla district. Around 85% of the respondents fed their birds with mixture of boil rice and rice polish as it is available and cheap. 90% respondents said that they do not spend any money on supplementary feed. The mortality rate was 19% and it is highest in winter (27%). Duck were vaccinated against duck plague on day between 15 and 31 for the first and between 35 and 46 for the booster dose. Around 72% households sold eggs to the local market and 20% sold to the bepari and others. Total annual expenditure and annual income per duck were on an average 119.15Tk and 220.69Tk respectively where as family wise annual expenditure and income were 857.9Tk and 1661.09 Tk. respectively.
