Item A review of sustainable biofuels from waste materials: development and challenges(BRAC University, 2021-12) Washima, Antara; Raka, Tarannum; Fazrin, Mariha; Hasanuzzaman, Md.Biofuel is a fuel derived from living things or their wastes (biomass) that is considered as the most potential and alternative energy source. It includes bioethanol biodiesel, biohydrogen, biogas, etc. Due to its environmental merits, biofuels production is increasing all over the world to deal with the energy crisis. Usage of biofuel has already shown promising results to deal with reducing greenhouse gases, non-renewable and unsustainable resources. Though biofuels may concern food security, developing countries are trying to project numerous targets for producing biofuels using various waste materials such as food waste, sewage sludge, food industry waste, etc. The purpose of our review article is to gather data on the production of biofuels from different waste raw materials reported globally and further analyze the possibility as well as the potentiality of those biofuels in Bangladesh.Item “An Evaluation of Customer Satisfaction towards the Services of the Theme Park of Bangladesh: A Case Study on the Fantasy Kingdom.”(Daffodil International University, 2024-09-26) Hasanuzzaman, Md.The way that practical knowledge operates is complicated, and is put into practice varies significantly from academic information. Practical knowledge is crucial in supporting academic knowledge. An internship program is a fantastic way to demonstrate the relevance of academic knowledge to real-world situations. For this reason, the Department of Business Administration has introduced an internship program designed to provide B.B.A. students with real-world experience. In Ashulia, Savar, Dhaka, Bangladesh, there is a complex of amusement parks called Fantasy Kingdom. The theme park, which debuted on February 19, 2002, is owned and run by Concord Entertainment Co. Ltd., a Concord Group sibling company. With one theme park, one water park, a go-kart track, and Heritage Park Corner, the property spans over 80 acres.Item Challenges of Electric Vehicles and Their Prospects in Malaysia(Daffodil International University, 2022-07-07) Muzir, Nur Ayeesha Qisteena; Mojumder, Md. Rayid Hasan; Hasanuzzaman, Md.; Selvaraj, JeyrajElectric vehicles (EVs) in Malaysia are gaining more attention and interest from the public. However, the electric vehicle’s exposure, awareness, and sales are still low compared to other countries. In this review, the challenges associated with implementing the electric vehicle culture in Malaysia are thoroughly reviewed, including the obstacles that the Malaysian government, policymakers, EV manufacturers, and EV users face in terms of EV cost, travel demand, charging station availability, impact on the power grid, and battery capacity. Then, all the identified challenges have been addressed by considering the user behavior, travel demand, socio-economical culture of Malaysia, current policies taken by the government of Malaysia, and the psychological outlook of Malaysians towards EV adoption. Moreover, potential suggestions have been proposed that the government of Malaysia may adopt during policy planning and when seeking to provide incentives to the users. Finally, a concrete conclusion has been drawn by disseminating the vision about the future of EVs in Malaysia. The proposed review of the technologies, challenges, prospects, and potential solutions associated with EV adoption in Malaysia can provide a base for proper strategic policy and help policymakers frame strategies to achieve the targets. This review could help achieve sustainable EV transport, and the successful implementation of Malaysian National Automotive Plan 2020, with the goal of adopting next-generation green vehicles.Item Comparative analysis of Acinetobacter baumannii isolated from hospital wastewater & community tap water: investigating antibiotic resistance and AMR genes(BRAC University, 2023-08) Naser, Nafisa Mehreen; Sakib, Md. Safwan; Hasanuzzaman, Md.Antibiotic resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (A. baumannii) has emerged as important nosocomial pathogen associated with various infections in clinical settings. It has the ability to persist in the environment for prolonged periods of time due to the wide range of antibiotic resistance factors it possesses. A. baumannii represents a global threat owing to its ability to resist most of the currently available antimicrobial agents. Hospital wastewater is considered to be one of the main reservoirs for antibiotic resistance because they create a system where antibiotic resistance (AMR) genes can be shared. Our study was performed to assess and analyse A. baumannii isolated from the wastewater of 3 selected hospitals and tapwater of houses surrounding the hospitals in order to create a profile of the antibiogram and antibiotic resistance genes of A. baumannii found from these environmental niches. 37 samples were collected from the sampling sites from March 2023 to June 2023 analysed presumptively by culture-dependent methods. A total of 100 isolates were confirmed to be A. baumannii by detection of the blaOXA-51-like gene. 52 representative isolates were undergone Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing and the highest antibiotic resistance profile was seen against Cefixime (100%), Ceftazidime (96.1%) and Aztreonam (84.6%). 100% of the isolates were seen to be multi-drug resistant (resistant to at least 3 antibiotics). Molecular screening of 6 beta-lactamase encoding genes was performed. Among the investigated genes, only the prevalence of blaNDM-1 was found in 5 isolates- 4 from hospital wastewater source and 1 from community tap water source. blaCTX-M, blaSHV, blaTEM, blaOXA-48, blaIMP were not detected in any of the studied isolates. 37.6% of imipenem resistant isolates showed the presence of blaNDM-1. The findings of our study revealed the availability of NDM-1 producing Acinetobacter baumannii strains in the environment setting. It can be expected that these antibiotic resistant genes would spread from hospitals via the untreated sewage effluents and disseminate to our supply water which is a threat for public health.Item Detection and characterization of antibiotic resistant and biofilm producing clinical isolates of Acinetobacter baumannii(BRAC University, 2024-08) Alam, Jarifa; Faruk, Ruhama Binte; Anik, Kamrul Hasan; Hasanuzzaman, Md.; Ahmed, AkashAcinetobacter baumannii is an opportunistic pathogen that affects persons with weakened immune systems and causes nosocomial infections due to its antibiotic resistance. Because of the global proliferation of multidrug resistance bacteria and biofilm development-ability to survive on dry surfaces aid in proliferation in a variety of healthcare environments, this study focuses on identifying the relevant gene for biofilm development and antibiotic resistance. Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates (150) were recovered from BSMMU in Dhaka. For A. baumannii pure strain identification; Biochemical tests and PCR (Polymerase chain reaction) were performed and validated using Agarose gel-electrophoresis. After verifying pure strains, the antibiotic susceptibility test was performed using the Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method and biofilm development was assessed using the 96-well microtiter plate method. Furthermore, PCR was used to screen both the carbapenem resistance gene and the biofilm generating gene. Out of 150 isolates, 109 were verified true positive with PCR analysis, enforcing additional research. AST was performed with medicines from several groups, the majority of them were MDR and mostly, Carbapenem resistant. PCR was performed for screening both MDR gene and biofilm producing gene, with 15.59% NDM gene being positive and the others yielding no significant results. Biofilm-related genes such as bap, blaPER-1, csuE, and ompA were reported to be frequent at 88.98%, 56.88%, 84.40%, and 83.48%, respectively, in all biofilm generating isolates (24.77%) strong, (33.02%) moderate, and (10.09%) weak, (31.19) % non-biofilm forming. Our study focused on the prevalence and antibiotic -resistant pattern of the MDR A. baumannii, which is more common in clinical isolates, as well as biofilm producing capability and Biofilm-forming genes. It appears that effective surveillance and control actions are required to halt the CRAB outbreak in our country and healthcare settings.Item Detection Extended Spectrum β-Lactamase (ESBL) and Carbapenemase encoding Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates from hospital effluent wastewater and hospital adjacent community tap water in Dhaka metropolitan city(BRAC University, 2023-06) Siddique, Sifat Sarwa; Noor, Shah; Hasanuzzaman, Md.Klebsiella pneumoniae is one of the most occurring opportunistic microbial species responsible for pneumonia infections as well as nosocomial infections (Cordova-Espinoza et al., 2023). This species of bacteria is mostly found in the environment including soil, surface water, and medical devices (Valenzuela-Valderrama et al., 2019). Among Klebsiella pneumoniae, those strains that produce extended-spectrum beta-lactamases are important pathogens responsible for nosocomial infections which can extend to serious bacteremia and pneumonia (Filis et al., 2021). A global study has shown that around 20% to 80% of Klebsiella pneumoniae were resistant to first-line antibiotics like cephalosporins, fluoroquinolones, and aminoglycosides back in the 2000s (Pitout et al., 2015). The multi-drug resistance state of K. pneumoniae has led to the emergence of incurable diseases. In our study, we aimed to find ESBL encoding and Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates from the Hospital wastewater and their adjacent community tap water of Dhaka Metropolitan City. From our study of 82 confirmed K. pneumoniae isolates, 24 isolates were selected based on the phenotypic characteristics of the Antimicrobial Susceptibility Test (AST). Among these 24 isolates, 23.3% were positive for blaCTX-M and 6.7% were positive for blaTEM, blaKPC, and blaNDM-1 genes respectively. Moreover, for the SHV gene, 56.7% of isolates were positive. E.coli is an organism of bacterium that can be identified living in a variety of conditions, such as warm blooded animals' and humans' gastrointestinal tracts, where it is a component of the gut microbiota and frequently released into the environment through wastewater effluent or diarrhea. The most common way to develop E.coli is by consuming contaminated food. In this project we collected hospital sewage water and tap water from the community which are located 300 meters from the hospital. The main purpose of our project was to identify the E.coli ESBL and carbapenems encoding strain from hospital sewage water and 300 meter range of nearby community tap water. From November 2022 to June 2023 a total 125 isolates of confirmed E.coli were found and among these 125 isolates 84 isolates were found in hospital sewage water and 41 isolates were found in community tap water which was collected from 300 meters range from the hospitals. Out of 125 isolates, 26 E.coli isolates were found to be ESBL, while the remaining 6 isolates were found to be carbapenemase encoded genes. We identified 60 out of 125 isolates from the Dhaka Shishu Hospital and nearby community. Accordingly, 52 isolates were found from the National Cancer Research Institution and Hospital. The remaining 13 isolates found out from DNCC COVID-19 Dedicated Hospital and their nearby area. After identify the 125 isolates by looking at their Antimicrobial Susceptibility Test (AST) pattern, 64 isolates were selected based on their phenotypic characteristic For identification of ESBL encoded E.coli from the 26 E.coli 14 isolates were found positive for CTX-M (53.8%) and 12 isolates found positive (46.2%) for bla-TEM. Moreover, 18.8% isolates tested positive for NDM but no positive result for SHV and KPC for identification of carbapenemase resistance genes. After observing the ratio, the vast majority of E.coli isolates found ESBL resistant and most of the isolates identified from hospital sewage.Item Development of Aspartic Acid Modified Waste Battery Electrode for Simultaneous Determination of Vitamin C, Paracetamol and Caffeine(Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET), Khulna, Bangladesh, 2018-07) Hasanuzzaman, Md.; Motin, Prof. Dr. Md. AbdulVitamin C (VC) is regarded as the most important water soluble antioxidant in human plasma. Paracetamol (PA) and Caffeine (CA) are important analgesic and antipyretic agents. The fixed combination of VC, PA and CA is widely used for the treatment of common diseases such as headache, cold, fever, muscle aches, arthritis, toothaches etc. A modified waste battery (WB) electrode sensor has been developed using Aspartic acid (APA) as a trifunctional electrochemical sensor for simultaneous detection of VC, PA and CA. Cyclic voltammetry (CV), differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and UV-Vis spectroscopy were used as detection techniques. In this study, battery electrode and pencil graphite (PG) electrode were prepared from waste battery and pencil respectively. Then waste battery (WB), pencil graphite (PG), glassy carbon (GC), gold (Au) and platinum (Pt) electrodes were used as the working electrodes for the determination of VC, PA and CA. These electrodes were modified with APA by applying continuous potential cycle for 15 scans at a range of -0.3 to 1.8 V at 100 mVs-1. A ternary solution of VC, PA and CA was prepared and the CV and DPV were taken at the modified (WB, PG, GC, Au and Pt) electrodes. It is observed that the performances of modified WB and GC electrodes are better than that of the modified PG, Au, Pt electrodes. But the GC electrode is more costly than WB electrode. The influence of pH has been studied by varying pH from 3 to 9. The detection was mostly favorable at pH 7. The effect of different scan rates has been discussed and the variation of peak current was plotted with the square root of scan rate. The peak current increases with the increase of square root of scan rates. The nearly proportionality of the peak current suggests that the peak current of the reactant at each redox reaction is controlled by diffusion process with some chemical complications. The effects of bare and modified WB electrode on single, binary and ternary solution of VC, PA and CA have been studied carefully. CVs of the single solution of VC, PA and CA at bare WB electrode show the oxidation peaks at 0.27V, 0.51V and 1.44V respectively. But at modified WB electrode, they exhibit the oxidation peaks at 0.18V, 0.42V and 1.40V. At bare WB electrode, the ternary mixture of VC, PA and CA reveal two oxidation peaks at 0.49V and 1.44V. But the APA modified WB electrode shows three separated and well defined oxidation peaks at 0.18V, 0.42V and 1.40V. The peak intensity of APA modified electrode was higher than that of the bare WB electrode. Similar behavior has been observed in the DPV technique. Quantitative analysis of VC, PA and CA has been carried out by DPV using APA modified WB electrode in a single, binary and ternary solution. In every cases, the peak currents of VC, PA and CA increased linearly with the increasing of their concentrations over the range of 1.0 mM to 5.0 mM. The APA modified WB electrode showed good selectivity as well as strong anti-interference activity for the determination of VC, PA and CA in binary and ternary mixture with excellent result. The limit of detection (LoD) has been calculated by signal-to-noise (S/N=3) ratio. In simultaneous detection, the LoDs for VC, PA and CA are 0.20 μmol L-1, 0.16 μmol L-1 and 0.33 μmol L-1 respectively at APA modified WB electrode. The sensitivities of VC, PA and CA are 54.4 μA/mM/cm2, 99.9 μA/mM/cm2 and 151.7 μA/mM/cm2 respectively at APA modified WB electrode. APA modified WB electrode has been successfully used for the quantitative determination of VC, PA and CA in some commercial tablets of different pharmaceutical companies in Bangladesh. The results have been valided by UV-Vis spectroscopic method. The amount of VC, PA and CA in some well-established pharmaceutical (Square, ACI, Beximco, Glaxopharma, ACME, Opsonin, Aristopharma, Incepta etc) tablet samples have been found approximately same compared to the labeled value. But in some pharmaceutical companies (IBN Sina, Kemico, Shubatech, Novelta, Eskayef etc), the amount of VC, PA and CA have been found less compared to the labeled value in the tablets.Item ESTERASE ISOZYME VARIATION AND POLYTENE CHROMOSOME ANALYSIS IN THE MELON FLY, BACTROCERA CUCURBITAE {DIPTERA: TEPHRITIDAE)(© University of Dhaka, 2025-09-01) Hasanuzzaman, Md.The melon fly Bactrocera cucurbitae (Coquillett) is well known as a destructive pest of fleshy fruits and vegetables in many parts of the world including Bangladesh. Esterase (EST) isozyme banding patterns were observed on 5% Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis (PAGE) during the different life stages (i.e. egg, larva, pupa and adult) and also sweet gourd, which was used as larval food. Two bands, EST-1 and EST-2, showing seven allelomorphs were found. There were four electromorphs in EST-1 (Est-104*’, Est-10'"’8, Est-10X7 and List-11 00), had a high mobility and close to the anode and EST-2 had three allelomorphs (Est-2017, Est-20"7 and Est- 20'37), showed a low mobility and close to the cathode. The standard photographic maps of salivary glands polytene chromosomes were also observed in the different larval stages (lsl and 2"(l instar larvae) of B. cucurbitae. In second instar larvae, the whole polytene genome had been mapped by dividing it into 100 sections and the sub sections were lettered. The banding pattern was moderately developed here. The left end of the chromosome is characterized by dark bands in 4A. 6 and 14A. Sections 9 and 14B, each bears one pair faint bands. On the other hand, 15 comprises one pair moderately dark bands. The expanded regions in sections 3, 16 and 20 are not typical puff, rather section 16 bears a dotted band. The tip (section 1) has faintly stained two bands. Weak points are VIII found in 2 and 19. Deeply stained bands occur in sections 30, 31 and 41. Sections 33 and 40 are characterized by dotted bands; 39 and 42 comprise two moderately developed pulTregions. Breakage occurs at 26. Sections 52, 55- 57 are characterized by a series of dark bands. Sections 48 and 50 have similar single band. There is a poorly developed puff region in section 58. Lightly stained two pairs of bands present in section 68. Sections 72, 73, 74 and 79 possess single band. One pair lightly stained bands occurs at 77 and 78. There is a prominent puff in section 80 together with a dark band immediately proximal to it. Weak points arc found in 63, 76 and 81. Section 83 possesses three clear bands. A scries of lightly stained and deeply stained bands are found in the sections 87 and 95. Section 100 appears only as a well-developed puff in the total polytene chromosome complement. Three weak points are found in 91, 97 and 98. In the case of Ist instar larvae, salivary gland cells were at early stages of maturity. So the banding pattern of polytene genome was not developed at this stage. This observation showed that B. cucurbitae is an excellent genetical material for esterase isozyme and polytene chromosome analysis. Abul Kalam; Mallick, Javed; Towfiqul Islam, Abu Reza Md.; Ayen, Kurratul; Hasanuzzaman, Md.Solar radiation estimation is essential with increasing energy demands for industrial and agricultural purposes to create a cleaner environment, negotiate climate change impacts, and attain sustainable development. However, the maintenance and operation of solar radiation measurements are costly due to the lack of pyranometers or their failure; hence, obtaining reliable solar radiation data is challenging in many subtropical regions. Despite its importance, a few studies use machine learning algorithms for solar radiation estimation in Bangladesh. To this end, this study contributes to filling the gap twofold. First, we presented the potentials of ensemble models, such as Bagging-REPT (reduced error pruning tree), random forest (RF), and Bagging-RF, which were compared to three standalone models, namely, Gaussian process regression (GPR), artificial neural network (ANN), and support vector machine (SVM), for estimating daily global solar radiation in three Bangladeshi regions. Second, we explore the optimal input parameters influencing solar radiation change at the regional scale using a classification and regression tree (CART)-based feature selection tool. Satellite-derived ERA5 reanalysis and NASA POWER project datasets were used as input parameters. The performance of the models was compared using performance evaluation metrics like correlation coefficient (r), root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE), and mean absolute percentage error (MAPE), index of agreement (IA), and Taylor diagram. Results suggested that the RF model performed 5.47–37.22% better than the standalone models in estimating daily solar radiation at Chuadanga in terms of RMSE. Besides, the other ensemble model Bagging-RF showed 14.9–25.03% and 11.46–30.97% greater performances in Dinajpur and Satkhira than the conventional models in RMSE metric. Besides, this study may provide knowledge to the policymakers to make critical judgments on future energy yield, efficiency, productivity, and operation, which are essential elements for investments and solar energy conversion applications in the subtropical areas of the world.Item FLORAL BIOLOGY OF SNAKE GOURD (Trichosanthes cucumerina L.)(BANGABANDHU SHEIKH MUJIBUR RAHMAN AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY GAZIPUR, 1999) Hasanuzzaman, Md.; Dr. M. A. Khaleque MianFloral biology and yield performance of different snake gourd (Tricosanthes cucumerina L.) genotypes were investigated to develop high quality and yielding variety (ies). There were differences between the snake gourd genotypes in respect of floral biology and yield potentiality. Size of the female flowers were larger than the male flowers. At 13" to 18" node in acropetal order, male flowers appeared within 32 to 35 days and at 23" to 35" node, whereas female flowers appeared within 35 to 45 days. Thirty six to thirty eight days needed to open the male flower and 39 to 49 days required for the female flower after transplanting. Starting of the anthesis occurred within 7 to 8 pm in male flowers and required 19 to 33 minutes for full blooming. The anthesis of the female flower started from 7 pm to 8 pm and completed their full blooming within a range of 80 to 124 minutes.Item Global Advancements and Current Challenges of Electric Vehicle Batteries and Their Prospects A Comprehensive Review(Scopus, 22-12-31) Roy, Hridoy; Roy, Bimol Nath; Hasanuzzaman, Md.; Islam, Md. The broader market penetration of BEVs has still not been achieved due to significant barriers associated with initial costs and short driving ranges. The purchase price and a limited driving range are barriers that are inevitably associated with battery technology. Therefore, the growing demand for BEVs has expedited new innovative approaches to improve battery capacity and performance and to reduce battery costs. Considerable advancements have been employed to meet the challenges. However, there are still many challenges to make BEVs affordable and convenient for users. In this review, the main aims are to identify and address challenges by considering the prospects of BEVs in the future market and to explore the technological and financial difficulties of low energy density of battery materials, fast charging rate, battery lifetime, and cost-effectiveness, associated with effectively implementing and adopting BEVs. Moreover, potential suggestions are proposed for researchers, manufacturers, users, and government policy planners. Finally, a concrete conclusion is drawn by disseminating a vision about the future adoption of BEVs. This review of technologies, challenges, prospects, and potential solutions associated with BEVs could provide a base for effective strategic policy and could help policymakers to frame strategies for adapting and achieving targets. Mostly students are not willing to waste their valuable times, or a large number of students just feel shy or some introvert to talk to their respective teachers. In this case home tutor can helps students. Because of home tutoring is a form of tutoring that occurs in the home. Tutoring is receiving guidance or instruction by a tutor. Most often the tutoring relates to an academic subject or test preparation. This is in contrast to tutoring centers or tutoring provided through after-school programs. The service most often involves one-on-one attention provided to the pupil; otherwise, is called small group tuition, in which the tutor and a small number of pupils gather at one of their homes for tutoring. our project will bring a smart solution for them. Our projects recreate the whole system online but it will help the users offline too. It will save time and students mustn’t have to worry about their study problems. This system is make and supervised by the experts and satisfying by the students and tutor. XML, JAVA, Firebase, Android Studio are used to develop the system. This system is tasted by over 5 tutors and 100 students, and 80% of them found the system useful.Item Isolation and characterization of Klebsiella pneumoniae from medical waste and adjoining community water(BRAC University, 2023-03) Selim, Sadia Binte; Tabassum, Nuzhat; Ananna, Jannatul Nayeem; Hasanuzzaman, Md.; Hque, Fahim Kabir ManjurulThis study is designed to conduct an experiment by following a standard protocol established according to the lab facilities and resources which is focused on the highly rising cause of respiratory infection of humans as well as an increasing risk factor at the sector of acquiring multidrug resistance genes and becoming a challenge to treat patients with severe conditions or different types of diseases at the same time. In this study the highly known Carbapenem and beta lactamase producing Klebsiella pneumoniae has been given the priority to experiment the fact that how much resistance and sensitivity is related to this organism in the context of Bangladesh, especially in highly polluted and unhygienic condition of Dhaka city. Therefore, to conduct this experiment three different locations have been selected primarily to observe the pattern of Klebsiella pneumoniae in the hospital wastewater and adjacent communities around those hospitals on a yearly basis which is conducted from June to November for our group. The main objective of this study was to observe and monitor if there is any correlation or connection among the strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae that can cause a threat of resistance towards multiple antibiotics specially the carbapenems (Meropenem, Imipenem etc.) and other antibiotics of different generation. Also, it was operated to gain the idea about how likely the chances are for this organism to gain resistance genes from different regions of hospitals and their nearby communities. This hypothesis of correlation is regarded as an experiment which does not only focus on the resistance pattern but also the fact that, if there is any chance of any kind of outbreak from this type of correlation or so on. Furthermore, this experiment focused on more specific and confirmatory methods for identification and confirmation of target organism Klebsiella pneumoniae which is PCR (Polymerase chain reaction) and ATCC strains are used as positive controls. Since biochemical methods are not that accurate like PCR and also require time and resources, these methods are kept aside to continue the study in a standard procedure. Moreover, antimicrobial susceptibility tests were performed to check the resistance and sensitivity towards different antibiotics which will be described in the methods and result section. The quality of drinking water and the distribution systems as well as waste management of hospital water has now become one of the major concerning issues for spreading antimicrobial resistance among different organisms specially for ubiquitous organisms like Klebsiella pneumoniae. (Giri et al., 2021) Since this is an emerging problem for public health it has become an unavoidable concern to test the presence of antibiotics and organisms that may develop resistance against those available antibiotics. (Armstrong et al., 1981, Schwartz et al., 2003). Although several researches have been conducted relevant to this study in different countries like USA, China, Singapore, this type of correlation study is a new opening in our country. (Armstrong et al., 1981, Xi et al., 2009) Therefore this study was primarily designed to focus on the residence of sensitivity as well as resistance of several antibiotic resistance genes from the source of hospital waste water and nearby community tap water. The results showed the presence of resistance in penicillin such as- ampicillin, cefixime, amoxiclav resistance in a 6 months laboratory observation of Klebsiella pneumoniae. AbdusModification of cellulose with silver nano particles produces various nano-composites with significantly developed properties. This work aims to prepare a PVA hydrogel modified with cellulose/silver nano-composites having potential applications in various fields including biomedical, antimicrobial inhibition, textile wears, etc. Micro fibrillated cellulose/silver nano-composites hydro gels were prepared in the aqueous medium with aid of microwave-assisted heating. Different percentages of nanocomposites were incorporated in PVA hydro gel to enhance the properties of PVA hydrogel. Prepared products were characterized by UV–Visible spectroscopy, FTIR, TGA, XRD, and SEM. The swelling (in water saline, acidic and alkaline solution), tensile, thermal, and antibacterial properties were also examined. The formation of Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs) in the (MFC-Ag)NC was confirmed by XRD and UV–Vis spectra. UV–Vis spectra showed the characteristic peaks of Ag in the UV–Vis spectra at 425 nm. Final products exhibited significant porosity and maximum swelling of 519.44%. The thermal stability of hydro gel increased with an increased percentage of (MFC-Ag)NC. M. TouhidIn this dissertation, numerical solution of mixed convective laminar boundary layer flow around a vertical slender body with suction or blowing has been investigated. Firstly, the governing boundary layer partial differential equations have been made dimensionless and then simplified by using Boussinesq approximation. Secondly, similarity transformations are introduced on the basis of detailed analysis in order to transform the simplified coupled partial differential equations into a set a ordinary differential equations. The transformed complete similarity equations are solved numerically by using computer software. The flow phenomenon has been characterized with the help of obtained flow controlling parameters such as suction parameter, buoyancy parameter, Prandtl number, body-radius parameter and other driving parameters. Finally the effects of involved parameters on the velocity and temperature distributions are presented graphically. It is found that a small suction or blowing can play a significant role on the velocity and temperature fields.Item Omicron, delta, and beta, deadliest among SARS-CoV-2 variants: an in silico analysis(BRAC University, 2023-01) Bosu, Sagar; Hasanuzzaman, Md.SARS-CoV-2 has a higher mutation rate since it is emerging in Wuhan, China, and has a high propensity for mutation as it contains RNA as its genome. Because of its high transmissibility and new variants constantly mutating, global health and populations worldwide are under severe threat. There are many mutations that cause structural changes and their transmission power and risk severity, but the spike protein mutation was mainly responsible for the higher transmission and risk severity of SARS-CoV-2. From several geographic locations, including Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania, and North and South America, fifty sequences of SARS-CoV-2 structural and nonstructural proteins (NSPs) from five variants were retrieved. BioEdit is used to perform multiple sequence alignments and protein homology modeling were performed using the Swiss model. Then, using Pymol, the proteins' 3D structures were seen, and their structural analysis was performed by superimposing them against the Wuhan sequence. Their RMSD values were also noted. Sequence alignment showed several common mutations and a few uncommon regional mutations in each of the five variants, but only the Beta, Delta, and Omicron variants had a few unique mutations. Structural analysis of such unique mutations revealed that they caused structural deviations in Beta, Delta, and Omicron spike proteins. Those findings provide insight into the functional and structural changes and its effects in SARS-CoV-2 spike protein mutations in Beta, Delta, and Omicron and a spike protein vulnerability that could be utilized to obtain comprehensive protection against those variants. Additionally, these variants had higher death rates, higher hospitalization rates, and more illnesses, all of which had a significant correlation with the structural deviations caused by those particular mutations. This study can help with regional vaccine strain selection, virus pathogenicity testing, diagnosis, and treatment.
