Constraint Based Multicast Routing In Internet of Things
(Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Board Bazar, Gazipur-1704, Bangladesh, 2017-11-15) Rahman, Shifatur; Hasan, Sakib
Multicast routing that meets multiple quality of service constraints is important for supporting multimedia communications in the Internet of Things (IoT). Existing multicast routing technologies for IoT mainly focus on ad hoc sensor networking scenarios; thus, are not responsive and robust enough for supporting multimedia applications in an IoT environment. In order to tackle the challenging problem of multicast routing for multimedia communications in IoT, in this book, we analysed two algorithms for the establishing multicast routing tree for multimedia data transmissions. The proposed algorithms leverage an entropy-based process to aggregate all weights into a comprehensive metric, and then uses it to search a multicast tree on the basis of the spanning tree and shortest path tree algorithms. We went through the evolution of the problem from wired networks to wireless netoworks. The book shows the theoretical analysis and extensive simulations for evaluating the proposed algorithms. Both analytical and experimental results demonstrate that one of the proposed algorithms is more efficient than a representative multiconstrained multicast routing algorithm in terms of both speed and accuracy; thus, is able to support multimedia communications in an IoT environment. We believe that the results shown at the end of the algorithm description are able to provide in-depth insight into the multicast routing algorithm design for multimedia communications in IoT and also will speak for themselves of ensuring a better Multicast Routing for Multimedia networks in Internet Of Things based on multiple constraints.

Controlling android device with eye tracking
(BRAC University, 2016) Hasan, Sakib; Tamim, Md. Tahsin Alam; Robin, S. M. Tarequl Hasan; Tasnim, Sadia; Mahmud, Shah Tanvir; Ali, Md. Haider
For people with mobility disabilities, communicating via smartphone is often frustrating, and require constant assistance. Among the diseases, only Parkinsons disease alone a↵ects up to 10 million people worldwide[1]. Especially, people having hand tremor, have major issues using mobile phones. To solve this, we want to implement a mobile application that will enable users to operate the mobile device touch-free. Most of the current eye tracking solutions use expensive hardware, but our proposed system will not require any additional hardware, it will use mobile device’s front camera. To achieve this, we will use combination of few detection methods including: face, eye, pupil, corner detection and calibration of the data.

Genetic innovations for breast cancer treatment : a review of gene therapy strategies and future implications
(BRAC University, 2023-08) Hasan, Sakib; Sharmin, Sabrina
Breast cancer is the widespread form of cancer & the second most frequent reason for female mortality on a global scale. It is resulted from various ecological and genetic elements. As a result, new therapeutic methods are needed to effectively treat these types of cancer. The conventional techniques for treating this type of cancer have limitations, so various researches have been conducted in the past decade to discover fresh strategies to address these challenges. Investigations into the molecular foundations of this illness have resulted in the advancement of genetic treatment as an effective choice for addressing and managing breast cancer. Before genetic material can be used to fix, add, or control a gene, it needs to be initially inserted into the desired cells using a carrier. The focus is on selectively attacking cancer cells without causing harm to normal cells, which is necessary for this approach. Clinical trials have additionally demonstrated that this method is comparatively safer than conventional medication. This research will investigate various aspects of breast cancer, techniques for gene treatment, the difficulties they present, and the latest discoveries in this field.

Isolation, characterization and comparative analysis of multi-drug resistant acinetobacter baumannii & vibrio cholerae from hospital wastewater and its adjacent community supply water in Dhaka north
(BRAC University, 2023-06) Hasan, Sakib; Labonno, Afia Fahamida; Haque, Mahir Ashhab; Ahmed, Akash
Acinetobacter baumannii is a Gram-negative bacillus which shows characteristics of obligate aerobe. It is pleomorphic and non-motile. An opportunistic and nosocomial pathogen, A. baumannii has been designated as “red alert”. This pathogen is responsible for ventilator-associated pneumonia, bloodstream infections, urinary tract infections and meningitis. As this pathogen possesses a wide range of virulence factors which make this pathogen resistant to multiple drug classes, for instance, Cephalosporins, Carbapenem, Beta-lactams etc. in recent years. On the other hand, Vibrio cholerae is Gram-negative, usually curved or comma-shaped which is the major causative agent of cholera outbreak. It has a distinct history to show resistance against a specific class of drugs (Ampicillin, Tetracycline). Wastewater from hospitals can play a significant role in dispersing pathogens to patients, community members, hospital staff, and the surrounding environment. The contagious and poisonous properties of hospital effluent make it a particularly dangerous source of antibiotic resistant gene or ARGs and antibiotic resistant bacteria or ARBs. From our study, a total of 83 samples were collected from our study sampling sites from June 2022 to January 2023, where 36 Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) confirmed Acinetobacter baumannii were obtained which was 43.37% of the sample size. In comparison to community water, isolates from hospital wastewater showed most resistance against our tested antibiotics. However, isolates from both hospital wastewater and community water showed most resistance to Cefixime (82.35%) and Azithromycin (52.94%) among 11 antibiotics. Again, a total of 75 samples were collected from the exact sampling sites from June 2022 to December 2022, where 20 PCR confirmed vibrio spp. and 17 PCR confirmed Vibrio cholerae were obtained, which accounted for 49.33% in total of the sample size. Moreover, in our study Vibrio cholerae isolates from both HWW (Hospital wastewater) and community water has shown 100% resistance towards Azithromycin and Ampicillin. The findings of our study revealed that the development of ARGs in Acinetobacter baumannii and Vibrio cholerae strains in the community setting has grown dramatically. It was expected that these ARBs and ARGs would spread from hospitals via the untreated effluents.

Nanotechnology-based Approaches and Investigational Therapeutics Against COVID-19
(Daffodil International University, 2022-05-02) Rahman, Md. Mominur; Ahmed, Muniruddin; Islam, Mohammad Touhidul; Khan, Md. Robin; Sultana, Sharifa; Maeesa, Saila Kabir; Hasan, Sakib; Hossain, Md. Abid; Ferdous, Kazi Sayma; Mathew, Bijo; Rauf, Abdur; Uddin, Md. Sahab
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is the novel coronavirus responsible for the current global pandemic, which first emerged in December 2019. This coronavirus has affected 217 countries worldwide, most of which have enacted non-remedial preventive measures, such as nationwide lockdowns, work from home, travel bans, and social isolation. Pharmacists, doctors, nurses, technologists, and other healthcare professionals have played pivotal roles during this pandemic. Unfortunately, confirmed drugs have not been identified for the treatment of patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by SARSCoV2; however, favipiravir and remdesivir have been reported as promising antiviral drugs. Some vaccines have already been developed, and vaccination is ongoing globally. Various nanotechnologies are currently being developed in many countries for preventing SARS-CoV-2 spread and treating COVID-19 infections. In this article, we present an overview of the COVID-19 pandemic situation and discuss nanotechnology-based approaches and investigational therapeutics for COVID-19.
