    Consumer Learning through Online Purchasing During Covid-19 and Future Buying Behavior

    Purpose: Covid-19 has fetched an unusual business environment across the world. This study aims to identify consumers' learning through repetitive online purchase during the Covid-19 pandemic situation and its impact on their future purchase and brand choice decision. Methodology: Data has been collected through online survey from the consumers who used to purchase online during the Pandemic and who purchased directly from the market or both. This study had a sample size of 212 people. Data from respondents were gathered through purposeful sampling. For testing hypotheses, the authors have conducted Pearson chi-square testing and chi-square test for goodness. Besides, few descriptive statistics have been calculated to make few concepts clear related to the topic. Findings: The results evident that consumers’ repetitive online purchase experiences during the pandemic situation significantly affect their postpandemic purchasing behaviour. This implies that consumers’ have learned from their experiences during the pandemic situation and they will apply this learning in their future purchase discision. In addition, consumers’ brand switch decision has a dependency on the experiences of the brands in the situation of Covid-19. Originality/Value: This work is completely novel. Most of the research have been conducted on consumers’ behavior during the Covid -19. No work has been done similar to this. Practical Implications: The findings also has a significant contribution to the management practices as well as to the society people. Future research can be done including more consumers in the study. Limitations: Secondary data related to this topic was very few since the issue was very novel on that time.

    Kick-off Your Future Career with Social based-Business Start-up: An Empirical Study on Business Graduates’ Behavioral Intention

    Purpose: In recent years, the concept of social-based business ventures has acquired significant momentum in Bangladesh even though the public acceptance rate remains low. The current study aims to investigate business graduates' behavioural intention to start social-based business ventures as their future careers through the lens of social vision, risk-taking motive, and attitude. Methodology: Data were collected through an online-based survey method from 367 students studying in business programs at the university level in Bangladesh. To analyzed the collected data and examined the proposed relationships in the conceptual model, PLS-based SEM was applied. Findings: The results explore that Business Graduates' risk-taking motive and social vision have a direct influence on their attitude towards starting social-based business ventures and an indirect influence on their intention to start a social-based business as a future career. Practical Implication: The findings contribute to the body of knowledge in social business literature as well as can be a source of policy implications for young entrepreneurs who intends to adopt social-based ventures as a future career. Originality: This research has made a significant contribution to the body of knowledge in the attitude-behavior paradigm (e.g., the theory of planned behavior) in social-based business research. Limitations: The sample size for this research was minimal, therefore, further study is recommended to include a large sample from the same population to generalize the findings

    Modeling of envelope power spectra for reference-free ultrasonic attenuation estimation of soft tissue

    Estimation of ultrasonic attenuation coefficient (AC) is essential for quantifying and characterizing the features of tissue microstructure. In the conventional AC estima- tion methods, a well-specified reference phantom is commonly used for minimizing the diffraction and transmit pulse related effects on the ultrasound radio-frequency (RF) echo signal. In this thesis, a novel AC estimation technique is proposed avoiding the need of using any reference data, where the undesired system effects on the RF data are minimized through point spread function (PSF) separation and band-pass filtering of the envelope signal of the tissue reflectivity function (TRF). An improved and compu- tationally efficient non-parametric cepstrum-based technique is used for separating the TRF and PSF from the measured RF signal. The Hilbert transform based temporal envelope is introduced to smooth out the unwanted effects of discontinuity and noise in the TRF and PSF signals. Finally, a band-pass filter based log power approximation technique is applied to estimate the center frequency component of the attenuating TRF envelope power spectra with reduced diffraction effect. Assuming continuity of AC within a small uniform region, an exponentially weighted-average of logarithmic signal power of the neighboring blocks at the center frequency is measured for different depths, with a view to fit a regression line for obtaining an average AC value from its slope. Comparative results of the proposed reference-free AC estimation method with other conventional reference-based methods are presented for tissue-mimicking (TM) phantoms, in vivo breast and liver data. For the TM phantoms, the AC estimates using the proposed algorithm are within 10% deviation of the actual values. The obtained results for the normal female breasts, normal human livers, and fatty livers are 0.44 ± 0.23 dB/cm-MHz, 0.55 ± 0.21 dB/cm-MHz, and 0.61 ± 0.20 dB/cm-MHz, respectively, which are consistent with the literature-reported values of AC. Different from reference-based methods, the proposed technique is free from the bias that may result from the dissimilarity between acoustic characteristics of the reference and sample.
