A Novel Solution Based on Automatic System
(Daffodil International University, 2019-12) Habiba, Umme; Koushik, Fazlul Ayan; Hossain, Md. Akbar
Traffic jam is one of the biggest problem of modern civilization. It can be avoided, by controlling traffic according to rising standards of single-board computer, computational technology, platforms, software packages and APIs [12]. It becomes easier for developer to solve this problem by creating an advance system by whom we can control traffic signals and information’s. We can use the crowdsourced data from google traffic congestion APIs to adjust traffic light cycle timer with a system which is adaptable to congestion. Our main concern in this system to increase the flow of vehicles in traffic congestion. Since this system is all about crowdsourced data, therefore no high sensor is needed here. This system will give the more accurate output in modern city or country. Since Bangladesh is one of the rising modern country, so that this system is compatible in Bangladesh also. It used in such modern countries like Australia, the USA, Canada etc. and the accuracy is more than 90%.

A Survey on Informal Sector in Dhaka Metropolis
(East West University, 5/2/2011) Habiba, Umme
Informal sector enterprises that usually possess the following features- ease of entry, family ownership, small-scale operation, reliance on indigenous resources, use of labor intensive and adopted (often low-level) technology, acquisition of skills outside the formal schooling system, and unregulated and competitive market prevalence The magnitude of informal-entrepreneurial activities plays a decisive role in the economic development of the rural livelihoods, especially in third world countries. The contribution of the informal sector to the economy, particularly in terms of employment generation, is very large. According to one estimate, more than 60 per cent of those working in the non-agricultural sector are entered into the informal business sector in Asia. Due to a lack of employment opportunities in the public sector and in the private formal sector, many people are forced to join the informal business sector to earn a living. Although their earnings remain low and a large number are classified as poor, without the informal sector, their earnings would be negligible, and as a result the intensity of their poverty would be even more severe. Informal business sector has always been considered as a proven instrument to fight poverty in an effective manner. As a consequence, poverty alleviation through rural centric micro-entrepreneurship development has been focused for more than the last thirty five years in Bangladesh. There are a number of prevailing factors that spoil the development of informal-entrepreneurship in Bangladesh. Among all the factors, non-institutions encompassing various political, economic, social, cultural, technological, environmental and personal factors are affecting the scopes of operating these economic activities to a significant extent. This paper attempts to identify the present status of Informal Business sector in Dhaka metropolis and also tries to find some key non-institutional barriers that hinder the development of informal entrepreneurship in Bangladesh, and suggests a composite policy measure to overcome such encumbrances.

Association of mothers’ single nucleotide polymorphism of Vitamin D receptor’s FokⅠ gene with risk of preterm birth and birth weight: a review
(BRAC University, 2023-02) Habiba, Umme; Neelotpol, Sharmind
Preterm birth and lower birth weight are one of the notable adverse effects of pregnancy. Recent studies have found the association of maternal vitamin D receptor gene’s polymorphism in one nucleotide with these events. Contributing genes for these factors are ApaⅠ, BsmⅠ, FokⅠ, and TaqⅠ. FokⅠ gene has shown the most correlation among these genes with preterm birth. Nevertheless, in this study, we did not find any association of birth weight with FokⅠ gene’s polymorphism of maternal vitamin D receptor. There are many researches focused on this genotypic change, however, all of them are conducted on a specific ethnicity. This subject needs more research to exhibit the exact correlation.

Bangladeshi tertiary level students’ perceptions on online synchronous and asynchronous learning as a humanistic learning
(BRAC University, 2023-01) Habiba, Umme; Al Amin, MD
"Since the time of Covid-19, online classes have got wider recognition. Even in today when the world is healing, and everything is happening on-site, online classes did not lose its existence. However, in today’s post COVID world, the students are facing stress, frustration, and many other mental and physical challenges. So, their learning environment should be such which is considerable to their physical and mental states. In such case, humanistic education might be a suitable teaching approach as it speaks for empathy in education along with many other skills for the development of the learners. Nevertheless, so far, very limited research study has concentrated on the humanistic education in online classes where humanistic learning approach needs more recognition in today’s post COVID era for enabling students to learn along with coping up with their personal hardships. That is why this research focuses on how much humanistic role the teachers play in the online synchronous and asynchronous classes, and also some barriers of humanistic education in such classroom settings from the perspective of Bangladeshi students. This study has taken a qualitative research approach where one by one interview has been selected as the data collection tool. Fifteen students from different universities of Bangladesh took part in this research study. From the interviews with the participants, it has been found that the students of Bangladesh are well acquainted with various online synchronous and asynchronous classes where they think that their teachers play multifarious humanistic roles by showing empathy to the students, inspiring creative thinking, allowing learning at own pace, and promoting learner autonomy in the classrooms. However, some barriers of humanistic education in online classes have been spotted as well like difficulty in emphasizing empathy and authority in the classrooms due to communication gap in online asynchronous classes, and also the inability of the teachers to allow learning at own pace to the learners for being liable to a fixed schedule. This study also recommends some solutions for overcoming the apparent challenges founded in this study. Overall, this research study acknowledges the concept of humanistic education in online classes, and thus opens up scopes for further scholarly work in the related field."

CONVECTIVE FLOW OF N-DECANE BASED NANOFLUID INSIDE A LID DRIVEN ENCLOSURE HAVING RECTANGULAR HEAT SOURCE UNDER THE EFFECT OF THERMAL RADIATION AND MAGNETIC FIELD
(Department of Mathematics, BUET, 2024-06-08) Habiba, Umme; Rahman, Dr. Md. Mustafizur
Due to the efficient heat transfer properties, nanofluids have become the core of research in present world in the sector of engineering, biotechnology, pharmaceutical industries etc. The present work prioritizes the numerical assessment of MHD mixed convective flow of n-decane/Graphite nanofluid inside a lid-driven trapezoidal enclosure with radiation effect, where the left and right bottom, the side walls are kept thermally insulated, the upper wall (moving with uniform velocity, u0) is in cold temperature (Tc) and a rectangular heater (with temperature, Th) is placed in the middle of the bottom wall of the enclosure. The dimensional set of equations and boundary conditions are transformed into non-dimensional form using proper scaling, further the numerical execution of governing equations are conducted by the Galerkin weighted residual method in the finite element analysis. The resulting parameters, Hartmann number (Ha = 0, 30, 50 and 80), solid nanoparticle volume fraction (ϕ = 1%, 5%, 10% and 15%), Radiation parameter (Rd = 0, 2, 3 and 4), Reynolds number (Re = 100, 200, 300 and 400) depict the result in terms of streamlines, isothermal contours, average heat transfer rate/ average Nusselt number (Nuav), average velocity (Vav). It is observed that, the Hartmann number has a negative impact on the fluid flow, hence, it diminishes the vortex strength, average heat transfer rate and average velocity in all cases. In present case, adding more solid nanoparticles to the base fluid enhances the average heat that is being transferred from the source to the fluid but it lessen the flow strength and average velocity. Increase in Radiation parameter elevates the streamline vortex strength and average velocity, in contrast, average Nusselt number (Nuav) is dropped by Radiation parameter. The Reynolds number appears to have positive impact on the overall phenomena as it gives rise to all the streamline vortex strength, average Nusselt number (Nuav) and average velocity (Vav).

Cyber Threat Detection Using Machine Learning Algorithms On Heterogeneous VHS-22 Dataset
(East West University, 2023-01-18) Rahman, Faiaz; Tanna, Rafee Zunaied; Habiba, Umme; Zahidur Rahman
Large and varied amounts of data are needed for the research of emerging machine learning (ML) techniques for detecting network threats, such as malware-related threats. The research community has been using a number of network traffic datasets that have been proposed in recent years. The majority of these datasets contain, however, only a few classes of bot and malware, lacking significant diversity and generalization to identify threats. In this work, we considered a heterogeneous dataset of 27.7 million data named VHS-22. This dataset contains flow parameters extracted using a software network probe from four datasets and a network traffic malware monitoring website. Our methodology evaluates different machine learning techniques and the ensemble classifiers. More than 99% of the threats associated with malware are successfully identified by the Bagging Decision Tree, Random Forest, Extremely Randomize Tree, Decision Tree, Histogram Based Gradient Boosting etc. Additionally, we constructed a prototype dataset named MiniVHS-22 from the original VHS-22 dataset to reduce the computational burden for the future researchers on model training and evaluation. We calculated the ratio of normal and attack data in the original dataset and maintained the same ratio in the MiniVHS-22 dataset of 1M data and used different dimensionality reduction techniques such as the Principal Component Analysis (PCA), and Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) with varying numbers of principal component values on it and explained our analysis in result section. Sophisticated network traffic threat detection systems can be developed using the results of our investigation.

Determination of Variation in Flow Property of Different Formulas of Calcium phosphate along with Amlodipine and Propranolo
(East West University, 1/25/2016) Habiba, Umme
This work was proposed to determine the flow properties of different set of some important pharmaceutical excipients along with APIs that are most commonly used to search some equations which can predict the flow property of any set of excipients and APIs with different ratio of diluent. Different parameters to determine flow property such as Compressibility index, Hausner ratio, and angle of repose were observed for them. Many unique formulas were equipped by choosing various excipients from different classes. Diluents were mixed with these prepared formulas in different specific and justified ratio. The prepared mixture in a constant weight was then examined for measuring flow property. I also used APIs to determine the difference in flow property. The values of Carr’s index, Hausner ratio and angle of repose were plotted against the percentage ratios of diluent. The study showed a linear relationship with different ratios of mixture and flow property measuring parameters. From these graphs the straight-line equations for each set of formula were obtained with regression value close to 1 which can be used to predict the flow property of these formula with different ratio of diluents. Moreover the most suitable ratio of specific diluent and a specific set of excipients along with APIs were proposed that showed better flow property.

Review on Heat Transfer Enhancement using Advanced Enhancers
(MANTECH PUBLICATIONS, 2021) Ahsan, Zahid; Habiba, Umme; Abedin, Mohammad Zoynal
This paper is another hopeful attempt to explore some of the phenomena observed in heat transfer enhancement by advanced heat transfer enhancers. Here it is reviewed the research work on heat transfer growth in advanced enhancers such as in fins and micro-fins, porous media, nanofluids, flexible seals, flexible complex seals, vortex generators, protrusions and ultra-high thermal conductivity composite materials heat exchangers. It illuminates the application of enhanced heat transfer surfaces as well. In this paper, it has been discussed on theoretical enhancement factors accompanying many heat transfer correlations for each enhancer. Furthermore, the effects of heat transfer enhancement and their applicability on the extended surfaces are also illustrated in this paper. Therefore, it is conjectured that the heat transfer has been tweaked night on 200% (2.0 times) for fins inside tubes when correlated with a smooth tube, 350% (3.5 times) for nanofluids when compared with normal fluid, 600% (6.0 times) for ultra-high thermal conductivity composite materials when analyzed with regular material and 1200% (12.0 times) in porous media when contrasted with general media.

(A production Report submitted in partial satisfaction of the requirements for the degree of DOCTOR OF VETERINARY MEDICINE, CHITTAGONG VETERINARY AND ANIMAL SCIENCES UNIVERSITY, KHULSHI, CHITTAGONG., 2023-08) Habiba, Umme
Study on Biosecurity practices in commercial layer farms was conducted at Lohagara upazila of Chattogram district of Bangladesh. Data were collected from 20 layer farms of various size with a pre-formed questionnaire. After that, data were analyzed with Excel software. The farm size varied from 1,000 to 20,000 birds. Majority of the farms contained between 1000 and 3000 birds. A wide range of educational background of farmer from primary to higher secondary or above had found. Most of the farmers were SSC passed. About 60% of the farmers was not trained on layer farming. Most of the farmers had experience of five years of farming. About 60% of the farmers never heard about biosecurity before. From the study we have known that most of the farmers were unaware of conceptual biosecurity. Only 5% of the farm maintained distance from the locality. Even they did not maintain any buffer zone for the free range chickens. As a result, free range chicken move around the farm freely. Operational biosecurity also was poor as many farmer do not clean the floor, feeder, drinker daily. About 95% of the farm had no facility of protective clothes and shoes for their farm and about 60% of the farm had no foot bath facility. There was easy excess for rodents and birds. As a consequence, outbreak of infectious diseases were common there. So it can be said that for reducing disease occurrences as well as for the reduction of bird’s mortality, biosecurity measures are important. Biosecurity also affects the egg production and the eggs are the perfect protein source for human being. So we should give importance to this issue for the prevention of diseases, protecting public health and upgrade of poultry sectors.

Towards the Establishment of Digital Library: An Investigation into the Current Status of University Libraries in Bangladesh
(University of Dhaka, 2020-10-18) Habiba, Umme
Purpose The main aim of this research is to assess the current status of digital library services in Bangladesh. It examines the use of and satisfaction with university subscribed online resources by the faculty members, identify impediments faced by them in case of managing and accessing e-resources. It also provides recommendations for overcoming the problems that hinder the development of digital library and access to digital resources by the faculty members. Methodology This study employs a quantitative research methodology for collecting data from the librarians and faculty members. A total of 45 public and 103 private universities were primarily selected for the survey. Two sets of structured questionnaires were designed as instruments of collecting data which contained both open- and close-ended questions. Chi-square and non-parametric tests such as Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis were carried out. Major findings Two categories of results were reported in this study, such as (1) findings which covered the current status of digital library initiatives, and (2) faculty perceptions towards digital resources in both public and private universities in Bangladesh. From the library survey, it was found that most university libraries lack IT-related facilities and majority of the libraries were partially automated and only a few libraries were fully automated. Besides, the training on the use of databases, digital content management, network administration, metadata management, etc. are crucially needed for the library staff working at various public and private universities in the country. The faculty survey results revealed that university teachers are well aware of digital resources but due to the inadequate IT infrastructure and insufficient access to e-resources, they were not generally satisfied with the current level of e-resources accessed by the libraries. Originality/Value This is the first time an attempt has been made to assess the current status of digital library and at the same time the use of university-paid digital resources by the faculty members in Bangladesh.
