Item ECOFRIENDLY MANAGEMENT OF MUSTARD APHID FOR QUALITY SEED PRODUCTION(INSTITUTE OF SEED TECHNOLOGY, SHER-E-BANGLA AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY, DHAKA 1207, 2018-06) HOSSAIN, MD. IMRANThe study was conducted in the experimental field of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka during the Rabi season 2017-2018 using BARI Sarisha-15 to evaluate the effectiveness of some promising bio-pesticides on aphid population abundance in field and laboratory condition. The treatments for the management were T 1 : neem Oil, T 2 : Bioneemplus 1EC, T 3 : Neem seed kernel extract, T 4 : Spinosad 45EC, T 5 : Detergent, T 6 : Field sanitation and T 7 : untreated control. Among the treatments, Spinosad 45EC performed as the most effective insecticide in reducing the highest percent of aphid population on leaves (60.00%) whereas Detergent showed the least performance (39.54%). In inflorescence, Spinosad 45EC performed as the most effective bio-insecticide in reducing the highest percent of aphid population (68.06%) whereas detergent showed the least performance (53.57%). The maximum quality seed of BARI Sarisha-15 obtained from treatment Spinosad 45EC (1.62 mt ha ) due to lower aphid abundance. On the other hand, lower quality yield performance obtained from the T 7 treatment due to an untreated control (1.29 mt ha -1 ). After harvesting of seed, height germination (95.33%) was found in T 4 (Spinosad 45EC), on the other hand lowest germination (77.67%) was found in T 7 (Control plot). -1Item EFFECTS OF PROBIOTICS (Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus licheniformis) ON PERFORMANCE AND ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF BROILER(DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL NUTRITION, GENETICS AND BREEDING, SHER-E-BANGLA AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY, DHAKA-1207, 2019-12) HOSSAIN, MD. IMRANAntibiotics are used to fight against bacterial infection and bacterial resistance to antibiotic are increasing. Hence, this study was conducted to find out the efficacy of probiotics Bacillus subtilis (BS) and Bacillus licheniformis (BL) on performance and antimicrobial activity of broiler chicken. One-Day old of cobb-500 broiler chicks (n=150) were divided into 5 experimental groups with 3 replicates as 10 chicks in each replication. One of the 5 experimental group fed diet without probiotic was as control and the remaining four groups fed diet with 4 levels of commercial probiotics were T 1 (20g BS/metric ton feed), T 2 (50g BS/metric ton feed), T (20g BL/metric ton feed) and T 4 (50g BL/metric ton feed). The group T 4 3 treated with 50g BL/ metric ton feed (MT) showed higher body weight (1607.50±30.98g) compared to control (1472.14±38.51). Feed consumption was significantly (P<0.05) higher in control group than probiotic treated groups. FCR was better in all probiotic treated groups compared to the control (1.52±0.04) and the best feed conversion ratio (FCR) result was found in T group (1.33±0.02). Carcass percentage was significantly (P<0.05) higher in T 4 4 group (71.33±1.30) compared with the control (65.67±1.33). The weight of breast, thigh, drumstick and giblet was significantly (P<0.05) high in T group as compared to others treatment groups and control (T ). In addition, the present study showed that feeding dietary probiotics in different groups had no significant effect (P>0.05) on relative weight of neck, wing, intestine, gizzard, spleen and bursa. The numbers of intestinal microflora (E. coli and Salmonella) were significantly higher (P<0.05) in control group compared to other groups and among the treatment groups the number of salmonella bacteria was significantly lower (P<0.05) in T 0 group. Total expenditure per bird was significantly higher (P<0.05) in treated group (T ) than control group (T 0 ). Feed cost was significantly higher (P<0.05) in control group (T ) compared to different treated groups. BCR and profit per bird was significantly higher (P<0.05) in treatment groups than control (T 0 4 4 ) and among the treatment groups T performed better than others. IMRANA series of value-generating activities associated with product marketing from farm level to the ultimate consumer referred to as the value chain. In Bangladesh tomato value chain starting from producer then there may have many intermediary channels like tomato producer, Faria, Bepari, Wholesaler, Retailer and Consumer etc. The study was conducted at saturia and singair upazila under Manikganj district. To identify the actors involved in value chain and their function in tomato marketing, to estimate the value addition of tomato by the actors in tomato market, to identify the constraints of tomato marketing and suggest measure for the improvement of tomato marketing in the selected area. The selected samples included 70 (Farmer 25, faria 10, bepari 10, wholesaler 10 and retailer 15). In the study areas there are five value chain included. In this study cost and margin analysis of tomato, cost of production, variable cost, fixed cost, gross cost, gross return, gross margin, net return, value addition, marketing cost, market price calculated. Value addition of farmer is 25.16%, bepari is 22.63% and faria is 7.37% and wholesaler is 31.72%. Marketing cost of retailer is 1.30 tk/kg, wholesaler is 3.62 tk/kg, bapari is 1.84 tk/kg and faria is 0.70 tk/kg. Net marketing margin of retailer is 2.15 tk/kg, wholesaler is 2.20 tk/kg, bapari 0.47 tk/kg and faria is 0.29 tk/kg. Proper credit facility, fertilizer supply, seed supply, irrigation facilities, electricity supply and transport facility should be improve for tomato development in Bangladesh.
