    EFFECTS OF ZINC AND SULPHUR ON THE YIELD OF MUNGBEAN

    A field experiment was conducted at the Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Farm, Dhaka 1207, during the kharif season of 2013 to study the' Effects of zinc and sulphur on the yield of Mungbcan (BAR! Mung-6)". The experimental soil pH was 5.71 and organic carbon content was 0.68%. Three levels of zinc (0, 4 and 8 kg Zn hi') and four levels of sulfur (0, 15,25 and 35 kg S hi') were used in the study. Levels of these two nutrient elements made 12 treatment combinations. The experiment was carried out in Randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. The results revealed that seed and stover yield of mungbean increased with increasing levels of sulphur and zinc up to certain level. The maximum significant seed and stover yields were obtained with the treatment combination Zn2S2 (8 kg Zn hi'+ 25kg S hi'). This perticular treatment combination gave the highest seed yield (2.657 t ha"), stover yield (1.623 t hi 5, plant height (57.20 cm), number of branch plant" (2.880). yield attributes like number of pods plant" (20.09), number of seeds pod" (12.47) and weight of 1000-seeds (44.72 g). On the other hand, minimum seed and stover yields were obtained with control condition. The N, P. K and S concentration of mungbean plant increased significantly from control to Zn2S2 (8 kg Zn hi'± 25kg S ha") treatment combination and again decreased with increasing sulfur more than 20 kg S hi'. Application of zinc and sulphur fcrtili7ers increased organic carbon. N. P. K and S status of post-harvest soil significantly.

    A field experiment was conducted at the Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Farm, Dhaka 1207, during the kharif season of 2013 to study the " Effects of zinc and sulphur on the yield of Mungbean -1 2 S 2 -1 + 25kg S ha -1 1 -1 -1 -1 -1 _________________________ -1 Supervisor - from control to Zn 2 S 2 -1 + 25kg S ha 5 -1 -1 . Application of zinc and sulphur fertilizers increased organic carbon, N, P, K and S status of post-harvest soil significantly.

    EVALUATION OF SEX PHEROMONE AND CHEMICAL INSECTICIDES FOR CONTROLLING BRINJAL SHOOT AND FRUIT BORER (BSFB)

    A field experiment was conducted in the experimental field of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University to evaluate the efficacy of sex pheromone and chemical insecticides for controlling brinjal shoot and fruit borer (BSFB), cultivated during rabi season (October, 2020 to March, 2021). The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. The experimental treatments were T 1 Pheromone trap at canopy level; T 3 : Pheromone trap at upper canopy level; T 2 : Pheromone trap at lower canopy level; T 4 Marshal 20 EC (carbosalfan) at 7 days interval; T 5 Spraying of Marshal 20 EC (carbosalfan) at 7 days interval; T 6 : Spraying of : Pheromone trap at upper canopy level + + Spraying of Marshal 20 EC (carbosalfan) at 7 days interval; T 7 : Pheromone trap at canopy level canopy level + Spraying of Marshal 20 EC (carbosalfan) at 7 days interval; and T 8 : Pheromone trap at lower control. Pheromone trap setting at canopy level performed the best results to suppress BSFB compare then the other setting positions like upper and lower canopy level. Treatment T 6 contributed to reduce the percent shoot and fruit (by number and weight) infestation (7.99%, 3.83% and 12.22%, respectively) of brinjal and also obtained the highest weight of edible portion of infested fruits, fruit length, fruit girth, single fruit weight and yield (0.23 kg, 11.03 cm, 13.37 cm, 39.11 gm and 14.89 ton/ha, respectively). Therefore, it could be concluded that, the pheromone trap setting at canopy level with the spraying of Marshal 20EC (carbosalfan) at 7 days interval could be the best treatment for controlling brinjal shoot and fruit borer in brinjal field.
