Item A STUDY ON LOAN AND ADVANCES OF AGRANI BANK LIMITED, SHYAMOLI BRANCH, DHAKA(DEPT. OF AGRIBUSINESS AND MARKETING, 2016) HASAN, MD. MAHMUDULThe report is originated in result of my internship, which I have done, as a requirement of MBA program. This report is done based on my sixteen weeks internship in Agrani Bank Limited, Shyamoli Branch, Dhaka. The environment of the Agrani Bank Limited is well and friendly. The staffs are cooperative and the motivation of the staff, I believe comes from the very sense of responsibility. Agrani Bank is one of the largest nationalized commercial bank with 935 outlets strategically located in almost all the commercial areas throughout Bangladesh. The Bank provides all kinds of commercial banking services to its customers. This report has been prepared based on my practical observation and experience gathered from the branch and the focus is given mainly on the Loan and Advances. The whole report is divided into eight parts- Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Overview of the organization and the branch, Theoretical Framework, Analysis of Loan and Advances, Findings, Recommendations & conclusion part. The first chapter is the introductory chapter of this report. It contains introduction, origin of the report, objective of the report, methodology of the report, scope of the report and limitations of the study. In the second chapter I try to review some literature to know about the previous work about this topic and find out the lacings of that works. In methodology chapter I mention sources of data and analysis technique. The organizational part contains background of Agrani Bank Limited, corporate information, vision, mission and motto of Agrani Bank Limited and some description about Shyamoli Branch. The theoretical overview part includes all about loan and advances. The analysis of loan and advances chapter shows some loan and advances given, recovery and received interest of Shyamoli branch. The findings part includes some findings regarding the “Loan and Advances of Agrani Bank Limited”., SWOT analysis of the Shyamoli Branch. Last chapter includes recommendations and conclusion. From the study, we will get a clear picture of overall loan and advances performance of Agrani Bank Limited, Shyamoli branch, Dhaka. I observed that the customer satisfaction level & quality of service is better than any other nationalized bank. After preparing the whole report, as an inexperienced person I may have made many mistakes in those findings, but whatever I felt from my point of view, I only pointed out those. Based on those ii findings, I recommended some points which may help the bank to remove their many shortcomings.Item EFFECT OF LEAD TOXICITY ON GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT AND YIELD OF RICE(DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL BOTANY, 2021) HASAN, MD. MAHMUDULLead toxicity adversely affects the growth and development of rice plants. An experiment was carried out to evaluate the effect of lead (Pb) stress on morphological, physiological and yield performance of rice plant (Oryza sativa L. cv. BRRI dhan29 and cv. BRRI dhan58). The experiment was carried out at the net house of the Department of Agricultural Botany and Plant Physiology Laboratory of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, Bangladesh in Boro season during the period from December, 2020 to May 2021. To know the effects of different lead levels on the morphological, physiological and yield performance of rice plant. The double factor experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications and the differences between the means were evaluated by Least Significant Difference (LSD). In this experiment, the treatments consisted of control and three different lead levels viz. Pb 0 = without lead (0 mM PbSO 4 , Lead(II) sulfate), Pb 1 = 2 mM PbSO 4 , Pb 2 = 4 mM PbSO 4 , Pb 3 = 6 mM PbSO 4 and two different variety viz. V 1 = BRRI dhan29, V 2 = BRRI dhan58. The lead treatments were applied at 15 days after transplanting (DAT). The results showed that the no. of non-effective tillers, proline content, no. of unfilled spikelets panicle -1 increased under Pb toxicity. Lead stress decreased the morphological parameters (plant height, no. of tillers, leaf area) and the values of physiological (MSI%, RWC%, SPAD value, dry weights) attributes in both rice cultivars. Root, shoot, leaf dry weights, and TDM also decreased in both rice cultivars under Pb stress. Yield attributes (panicle length, no. of effective, no. of filled and 1000 grain wt.) and yield (grain yield) parameters were reduced significantly (P ≤ 0.05) under lead stress condition. The loss of grain yield for rice variety 1/BRRI dhan29 due to Pb 1, Pb 2 and Pb 3 level of lead was 15.43%, 35.24% and 48.72% respectively over non-lead stressed control. The loss of grain yield for rice variety 2/BRRI dhan58 due to Pb 1, Pb 2 and Pb 3 level of lead was 11.82%, 26.88% and 39.02% respectively over nonlead stressed control. Therefore, it can be concluded Pb-induced toxic effect on morphological and physiological parameters can cause substantial damage of different rice cultivars which can adversely affect yield attributes of rice plant that ultimately decrease the yield of different rice cultivars.Item EFFECT OF VARIETY AND FERTILIZATIONON GROWTH AND YIELD OF SWEET PEPPER(HAJEE MOHAMMAD DANESH SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY, DINAJPUR-5200, BANGLADESH, 2023-12) HASAN, MD. MAHMUDUL; Chowdhury, Professor Dr. Abu Khayer Md. Muktadirul Bari; Hasan, Professor Dr. Md. AbuA field experiment was carried out at the research field of Crop Physiology and Ecology Department, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur, during December 2021 to April 2022 to examine the effect of variety and fertilization on the growth and yield of sweet pepper. The experiment was laid out in two factorial randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. Factor A included three (3) hybrid capsicum varieties i.e. V1- Green Bell, V2- Lalima and V3- Yolo Wonder and factor B comprised of five (5) fertilizations i.e. F1- 100% Recommended Dose of Fertilizer (RDF) + 10 t ha-1 Cowdung (CD), F2- 100% RDF + 10 t ha-1 PLBC, F3- 75% RDF + 2.5 t ha-1 PLBC, F4- 50% RDF + 5 t ha-1 PLBC and F5- 10 t ha-1 PLBC. Data on different parameters such as plant height, number of leaves plant-1, number of branches plant-1, SPAD value, fruit length, fruit diameter, single fruit weight, number of fruits plant-1, fruit yield plant-1, fruit yield plot-1, fruit yield hectare-1 were collected. Results revealed that V3 variety (Yolo Wonder) produced maximum values in most of the studied parameters followed by varieties V1 (Green Bell) and V2 (Lalima). In case of fertilizations, most of the parameters showed the highest values in F2 (100% RDF + 10 t ha-1 PLBC) followed by F1 (100% RDF + 10 t ha-1 CD) and the lowest values in F5 (10 t ha-1 PLBC). Interaction effect of variety and fertilization revealed that, V3F2 (Yolo Wonder with 100% RDF + 10 t ha-1 PLBC) showed the highest values and V2F5 (10 t ha-1 PLBC) gave the lowest values in most of the cases. The highest fruit yield (13.81 t ha-1) was found in V3F2 whereas the lowest fruit yield (10.18 t ha-1) was observed in V2F5.Item GENETIC VARIABILITY, CORRELATION AND PATH ANALYSIS IN F2 POPULATION OF WHITE MAIZE (Zea mays L.)(DEPARTMENT OF GENETICS AND PLANT BREEDING, SHER-E-BANGLA AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY, DHAKA, BANGLADESH, 2017) HASAN, MD. MAHMUDULThe experiment was conducted at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka to determine the mean performance, genetic variability, correlation and path coefficient of nine F populations of white maize. Significant variations were observed among the different genotypes of nine F 2 populations for all the traits studied. The F 2 ii 2 populations of KS 510 showed the maximum mean performance in plant height (218.61 cm), days to maturity (135 DAS) and yield per plant (83.85 g), while the populations of Yungnuo 7 showed the minimum mean performance in plant height (120.94 cm), days to maturity (106 DAS) and yield per plant (43.42 g). In analysis of different genetic parameters, the highest genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV) and phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) values were observed for cob height (19.64, 21.58), number of branches of tassel (20.12, 25.41), leaf blade area (17.3, 20.87) and yield per plant (18.25, 22.98). High heritability coupled with high genetic advances in percent mean were obtained for plant height, cob height, number of branches per tassel, number of cob bearing node, leaf blade area and grain yield per plant. The correlation studies revealed that significant positive relation of yield per plant with plant height, days to maturity, number of leaves per plant, cob length, cob breadth and number of grains per row at both genotypic and phenotypic levels. The path coefficient analysis showed positive direct effect towards yield contributed through days to 50% tasselling, days to 50% silking, cob height, days to maturity, number of branches of tassel, cob breadth and number of grains per row. Thus the results suggested that direct selection on the basis of plant height, days to maturity, cob height, number of leaves per plant, cob length, number of row per cob and number of grains per row could be reliable for yield improvement in white maize. Moreover, considering the mean performance, the populations of KS 510 for grain yield per plant, the populations of Yungnuo 7 for early maturity, dwarf type, cob height and populations of PSC 121 for bold grains, highest number of rows per cob, cob breadth and leaf blade area would be selected for advancing these population through selfing for developing of potential inbred lines for varietal development of white maize.Item Molecular Characterization of Lentil by RAPD Markers(DEPARTMENT OF GENETICS AND PLANT BREEDING, SHER-E-BANGLA AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY, DHAKA, BANGLADESH, 2009-12) HASAN, MD. MAHMUDULRandom Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) technique was used to assess genetic diversity and relationship among six lentil varieties, namely BARlmasur-!. BARimasur-2, BARlmasur-3, BARlmasur-4, BARlmasur-5 and BARlmasur-6. Genomic DNA was extracted form young leaves using SI)S method. Three individual from each of the six varieties was analyzed using seven random primers. Amplification with seven (out of 10) random primers generated 53 RAPD markers of which 32 (60.37%) were considered as polymorphic. The highest proportion of polymorphic loci was 11.32% for BARlmasur-3. Nd's gene diversity value (0.0552) was the highest in case of BARlmasur-3. Results of this investigation indicated relatively high level of genetic variation in BARlmasur-3 compared to other varieties. High level of variety differentiation (G = 1.00) and low level olgene flow (Nm= 0.1328) estimates across all loci retlected that the level of genetic variation existed among all the six lentil varieties. The similarity indices for individual cultivars (Si) was higher (average 98.99%) than inter varietal similarity (S1 ) (average 95.15%). The inter varietal similarity (S1 ) for BARlmasur-1 Vs BARimasur-2 was higher (95.11%) whereas S11 value was lowest for BARlmasur-1 Vs BARlmasur-5 (69.63%). The un-weighted pair group method of arithmetic mean (UPOMA) dendrogram based on Nei's genetci distance, grouped the six cultivars into two main clusters. BARlmasur-1, BARlmasur-2 and BARlmasur-3 in cluster I and BARlmasur-4, BARlmasur-5 and BARlmasur-6 ware group in cluster If. The cultivar BARlmasur4 was close to the cultivar BARlmasur-6 with the lowest genetic distance (0.0972) and the highest genetic distance (0.5002) was found between BARlmasur-1 and RARlmasur-5, The RAPt) markers were found to be useful tool in molecular characterization of lentil varieties which could he utilized by the breeders for the improvement of lentil cultivars.Item RESPONSE OF UREA SUPERGRANULE AND PRILLED UREA ON GROWTH AND YIELD OF BORO RICE(Department of Soil Science, 2014-12) HASAN, MD. MAHMUDULA research work was carried out at the Research Farm, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka during the period from December 2012 to May 2013 in order to determine the suitable nitrogen source to observe the growth performance with a view to increasing the grain yield of boro rice. The experiment consisted of two factors. Factor A: Nitrogen Sources (5 levels); To: No nitrogen (control). T 1 : Recommended dose of USG. 12: 150 KgNhi' as USC. 1 3 : Recommended dose of prilled urea and l.: 150 KgNha" as prilled urea, and factor B: Variety (4 levels): V 1 : BRRI dhan29, V2: BRRI hybriddhan2, V 3: BRRI dhan58 and V 4 : Heera 4. The experiment was set up following split-plot design with three replications. Experimental results showed that nitrogen sources had significant effect on plant height. tillers hiil* effective tillers hilY'. non-effective tillers hilr', grains panicl&', unfilled grains panicle", grain yield, straw yield, biological yield and harvest index. The application of T 2 treatment showed the highest grain yield (7.96 t ha") and straw yield (9.50 t ha1 ) than any other sources of nitrogen treatments. All the studied characters except harvest index varied significantly due to varieties. BRRI dhan29 gave the higher grain yield (7.15 t hi') than Heera 4 (6.83 t haj, BRRI hybriddhan2 (6.75 t hi) and BRRI dhan58 (6.50 hi') which is mainly attributable to the highest number of grains panicl&' (102.71). treatment and BRRI dhan29 had the higher performance in terms of producing the highest grain yield (8.46 it hi) and straw yield (9.94 t hi') The combination of the 12 among the interaction effects. The N, P and K uptake both in grain and straw of boro rice increased significantly due to application of nitrogen fertilizer. The highest total N. P and K uptake 145.29 kg ha4 . 33.14 kg hi' and 17.24 kg hi'. respectively was observed in 12 treatment. The mean apparent recovery of N by tested varieties was obtained (77.54%) with the application of T2 treatment, but the nitrogen use efficiency was highest (33.20 kg grain kg' N applied) in 1, treatment. Findings revealed that application of 150 KgNha" as USC showed the superiority over other sources of nitrogen to produce higher grain yield of boro rice. Interaction treatment of T 2V, i.e. application of 150 KgNha 4 as USC with BRRI dhan29 performed best and interaction of T2 treatment with other tested varieties were also promising in producing higher yield.Item SELECTION OF ONION (Allium cepa L.) GENOTYPES FOR DROUGHT TOLERENCE USING MORPHO- PHYSIOLOGICAL AND YIELD CONTRASTING INDICES(DEPARTMENT OF GENETICS AND PLANT BREEDING, 2022) HASAN, MD. MAHMUDULEight genotypes of Onion (Allium cepa L.) were evaluated to find out the genotypes for drought tolerance using morpho-physiological and yield contrasting indices at Sher-eBangla Agricultural University, Dhaka during July, 2021 to June, 2022. The experiment was laid out in Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications. Mean performance, genetic parameters, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and principal component biplot analysis on different yield contributing characters and yield of onion genotypes were estimated. The longest plant (49.43 cm) was recorded in the genotype Lal Teer King, while the shortest plant (20.287 cm) was found in onion genotype BARI Piaj 3. The highest bulb yield/plant (34.50 g) was recorded in the genotype of Lal Teer King, whereas the lowest bulb yield/plant (21.38 g) from the genotype of BARI Piaj 3. Phenotypic coefficient of variation was higher than the genotypic coefficient of variation for all the yield contributing traits indicating drought stress influenced the genotypes. In Pearson’s correlation study, yield per bulb positively and significantly correlated with plant height (0.818), root length (0.511), no. of leaves (0.744), leaf length (0.720), leaf breadth (0.756), bulb length (0.469), bulb diameter (0.716), leaf area (0.893), chlorophyll content (0.886) and dry weight per bulb (0.854). The positive and significant correlation observed between grain yield and traits under-drought stress conditions provided evidence that studied traits might ultimately be considered as a tool for effective selection of drought tolerant genotypes. Path coefficient analysis revealed to that plant height had direct positive effect (5.058), root length had direct positive effect (0.263), no. of leaves had direct positive effect (1.129) and dry weight per bulb had direct positive effect (0.44) on yield per bulb, indicating these were the main contributors to yield per bulb. The study selected 8 genotypes with high grain yields under drought stressed conditions and favorable adaptive traits useful for breeding. In consideration of yield contributing characters and yield Lal Teer King performed better under drought condition followed by BARI Piaj 1, BARI Piaj 2, BARI Piaj 3, Taherpuri, Faridpuri, Bombay and Annex N-53.
