Item A review on the use of carfilzomib and bortezomib in the treatment of multiple myeloma(BRAC University, 2024-09) Ferdous, Jannatul; Chowdhury, Namara MariamMany people worldwide suffer from multiple myeloma, a blood cancer that is fatal and difficult to treat. Therapy has advanced significantly, but recurrence and treatment resistance remain significant issues. Two important medicines in the proteasome inhibitor class that have revolutionized the treatment of multiple myeloma are carfilzomib and bortezomib. Bortezomib, the first proteasome inhibitor approved by the FDA, has shown considerable promise in extending life and triggering remission. However, newer medications have been developed as a result its reversible inhibition and adverse effects, like peripheral neuropathy. It has been demonstrated that carfilzomib, a second-generation proteasome inhibitor, is more beneficial in instances that have not responded to prior treatments or have relapsed. Carfilzomib permanently stops the enzyme which can cause multiple myeloma. It is a superior option for certain patients because it has also been demonstrated to have a lower risk of side effects like neuropathy. This review compares the efficacy, safety, and long-term performance of carfilzomib versus bortezomib based on data from clinical trials. It describes the technical and functional architecture of the system for orientation and guidance of a visually impaired person using available modern technology. The Audio guidance is systems that will help visually impaired people to navigate through buildings. This system would detect an object or obstacle and guide the visually impaired person in the desired path through specialized audio rendering. It has many proposed solutions by the researchers and this field attracted new researchers to contribute in this domain. Furthermore , the widespread use of cameras used for security purposes in big modern cities has also allowed researchers to research and examine a vast amount of information so that autonomous monitor ing can be executed. Adding effective automated violence unearthing to videotape security or multimedia content watching technologies (CCTV) would make the task of carpoolers, walk organizations, and those who are in control of social media activity monitoring much easier. We present a new deep scholarship skeleton for determining whether a videotape is violent or not, based on a suited version of DenseNet , and a bidirectional convolutional LSTM module that allows unscram bling pointed Spatio-temporal features in this paper. In addition, ablation research of the input frames was carried out, comparing thick optic outpouring and touching frames. Throughout the paper, we analyze various strategies to detect violence and their classification in use. Furthermore, in this paper, we detect violence using the Spatio-temporal feature with 3D CNN which is a DL violence detection framework, specially better for crowded places. Finally, we used embedded devices like Jetson Nano to feed with dataset and test our model and evaluate. We want a warning sent to the local police station or security agency as soon as a violent activity is detected so that urgent preventive measures can be taken. We have worked with various benchmark datasets where in one dataset, multiple models achieved a test accuracy of 100 percent, making them invincible. Furthermore, for a different dataset our models have shown 99.50% and 97.50% accuracy rates. We also did a cross dataset experiment in models which also showed pretty good results of higher than 60%. The overall results we got suggests that our system has a viable solution to anomalous behavior detection.Item Anticipating Dengue: Advanced Machine Learning for Timely Epidemic Prediction(Daffodil International University, 2024-07-24) Ferdous, Jannatul; Rahman, Md. ArafatThis research is about finding better ways to predict and manage dengue outbreaks, a serious illness spread by mosquitoes. To enhance predictions, we are utilizing sophisticated machine learning methods and intelligent computer programs. Put simply, our focus is on understanding and forecasting potential dengue outbreak sites and times. The study highlights the significance of trustworthy data, moral data management, and machine learning proficiency. Using a dataset that includes important variables like year, month, area, affected population, and total population, our goal is to create a tool that can quickly assess risk for people traveling to new places. Based on input parameters like area and month, we hope to use advanced algorithms to classify the likelihood of dengue occurrence into four categories: Low, Medium, High, and Risky. Input output analysis prioritizes privacy protection while ensuring data organization and utility. We prioritize privacy while making sure the data is well organized and helpful for our computer programs. Our project management guarantees an organized strategy with efficient teamwork, financial analysis, budgeting, and flexibility in the face of difficulties. In summary, the goal of this research is to provide important new information for the comprehension and forecasting of dengue outbreaks. The methodical approach, which is based on state-of-the-art machine learning techniques and data-centric approaches, aims to close current gaps and offer a strong framework for managing and predicting dengue outbreaks. After a thorough analysis of the data, the Decision Tree algorithm was the best performer, with an astounding 84% accuracy, 60% F1 score, 67% precision, and 55% recall rate. Considering these results, the Decision Tree is the recommended algorithm for dengue epidemic prediction. Consequently, decision trees are the best option for this purpose since we can accurately and consistently predict dengue outbreaks.Item Assessing informed consent practices during normal vaginal delivery and immediate postpartum care in tertiary-level hospitals of Bangladesh(European Journal of Midwifery, 5/21/2019) Karim, Md Abdul; Ahmed, Syed Imran; Ferdous, Jannatul; Islam, Bushra Zarin; Tegegne, Henok Ayalew; Aktar, BacheraINTRODUCTION This study was conducted to assess the informed consent practices during normal vaginal delivery (NVD) process and immediate postpartum care in the tertiary-level hospitals of Bangladesh. METHODS A cross-sectional study was conducted at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and Sir Salimullah Medical College & Mitford Hospital (SSMCH) in November 2015. The study population and respondents were mothers who gave normal vaginal childbirth within the past 24 hours and received postpartum care in the study sites (N=190). The interview of every alternate mother from the patient register was conducted by researchers using a structured questionnaire. Descriptive analysis of findings was carried out using MS Excel 2013. RESULTS The study findings revealed the complete absence of informed consent practices during NVD and postpartum care in the tertiary-level hospitals in Bangladesh. Consent (not informed consent) was taken from 95% of the mothers before proceeding with the NVD process, 50–72% of examinations (except breast examination, 0%) and 8–72% of procedures during postpartum care. Choice and preferences of mothers for taking an alternative process/examination/procedure were absent in all cases. CONCLUSIONS The Respectful Maternity Care (RMC) Charter endorsed informed consent as one of the basic rights of child-bearing women. Absence of informed consent practices in the study sites indicates disrespect to maternity care and violation of this right. The Standard Clinical Management Protocols of Bangladesh also lacks clarification of this right. In the dawn of the 21st century, only the means to heat the water has changed - now we mostly use electricity and gas in place of woods and other natural fuel. With that being said, lots of gas and electricity is being devoted to heat up the liquid for uses in hospitals, industries and households and the dernaod for hot water is ever climbing. Natural resources like fuel and coal are in liruited amouots and will not be able to sustain forever. Conseqoently, renewable energy is starting to gaio popularity in countries like Bangladesh. As a commitment to the development of the energy sector of Bangladesh, Control and Applications Research Centre (CARC) ofBRAC University has developed a Solar Hot Water System (SHWS) that would utilize solar energy to heat water, which could be used for several purposes like sterilization of medical equipment, cleaning of dishes, etc. An automated pilot project haa been implemented on the rooftop of BRAC University and research work haa been conducted for increasing the efficiency of the whole system by increasing the captured insolation and reducing wastage of heat overnight through insulation of the storage tank. With regard to procedural perspectives, this paper contemplates on highlighting the techoology implemented in the system and the improvisations made to elevate the efficiency and present a viable comparison between commercially available hot water systems with the developed automated uninterruptable SHWS.Item Bioinformatic approach to predict structure, sequence motif and expression level of breast cancer biomarker molecule: protein and miRNA(BRAC University, 2016-04) Ferdous, Jannatul; Siddique, Ms. RomanaBreast cancer is an important public health issue. It is both a heterogeneous disease and most common cancer affecting women worldwide. It has become the reason of 69% cancer death in women throughout the whole world and 15% of cancer death in Bangladesh. Three reasons can be attributed to this disease, they are: Poor diagnosis, inefficient treatment and continuous recurrence. Within the borders of our own country in 50% cases the diagnosis miss early detection, 40% of the cases face relapse of the disease and most of the patients have to go through inefficient treatment. Geneticists, molecular biologists, cell biologists, oncologists all are trying to find a solution to this burning question of reducing breast cancer mortality rate, and according to recent findings biomarker studies can provide help in this vital research. Surprisingly, even though there has been many discovered biomarker molecules but due to lack of ample information about specific biomarker molecules most of these have not seen any clinical usage, which is ultimately no help to this critical development. The project was designed to find the basic properties -structure, sequence motif and expression level of potential biomarker molecules of breast cancer. Only protein and miRNA are selected as biomarkers even though there are others, because these two can be found in easily collectable body fluid. 11 protein and 7 miRNA were selected, as they are the one showing high specificity and sensitivity as biomarkers. The protein molecules are - ER, ER Beta, PR, TTR, Ki67, HSP60, Her2, CyclinD1, Cyclin E, P53 and CEA. The miRNAs were- miR10b, miR21, miR145, miR155, miR191, miR 382 and miR425. While doing this project bioinformatics approach was taken to find out properties. For structure SWISS MODEL Workspace (protein), mfold (miRNA), for sequence motif MEME, and for expression level GEO Profiles were used. This study about the biomarkers can help in the betterment of diagnosis, treatment and recurrence. Because knowing about the important properties of biomarker molecules can help in constructing a biomarker panel for diagnosis, treatment and recurrence. Currently mammography is used for diagnosis which give false results at times, can be replaced by biomarker panel that will detect breast cancer even before any symptoms show up, and for treatment, biomarkers can help in forming anti miRNA targets, site directed mutagenesis, specific inhibitors and virtual screening. For the recurrence part biomarker panel can check people for their risk of local or regional relapse. To sum it up the future of breast cancer treatment is in the hand of a good, specific and sensitive panel of biomarkers.Item Child and Woman Trafficking in Bangladesh: A Study Exploring its Causes and Challenges(East West University, 2019-08-25) Ferdous, JannatulThis research work mainly deals with child and woman trafficking in Bangladesh and a study exploring its causes and challenges. The major purpose of this paper is to analyze the process of trafficking, network relations among the traffickers and the causes of trafficking and its impact in a social system like Bangladesh.In this paper I try to show some the conceptual matter, the origin of trafficking or when Bangladesh adopt trafficking.This research work has discusseddestination, trafficking routes, and transit points of child and woman trafficking in Bangladesh. It shows various laws in Bangladesh regarding child and woman trafficking and try to find out the primepurposes of such trafficking and its consequences. This paper also point out some recommendation to prevent child and woman trafficking as well as to reintegrate the trafficked victims with the main stream of population.Item Chromatographic Analysis of Goat Meat in Different Area of Chittagong, Bangladesh(Clinical report submitted in partial satisfaction of the requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Faculty of Veterinary Medicine CHITTAGONG VETERINARY AND ANIMAL SCIENCES UNIVERSITY KHULSHI, CHITTAGONG-4225, 2015-10) Ferdous, JannatulA study on antibiotic residue was performed for six months to evaluate the health hazard. For this, a total of 60 goat sample comprising liver, kidney and thigh muscles were collected from different wet markets of Chittagong Metropolitan Area. Those samples were tested for Oxytetracycline, Amoxicillin, Sulfanilamide, Ciprofloxacin and Penicillin using Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC). Among them, 70% detected in liver, 55% in kidney and 35% in thigh muscle. Ciprofloxacin and tetracycline is the predominant antibiotics in goat meat sample. Basically, banks are profit oriented organization. Both types of banks have the ultimate intension of earning profit but the operational procedures are fully different. Conventional banks use the money as product. They keep deposits at lower rate and provide loan at higher rate. Here the business tool is money. In contrast, the motto of Islamic banking is profit sharing and loss bearing where Shariah based banks follows the partnership base business contract by using the certain terms which is known as Mudharabah, Wadiah, Musharakah, Murabahah, Ijar. In Islamic Banking, the issue of profit and ribah(interest) is strongly monitored as it is prohibited very strictly by Islam. Where in conventional bank we get fixed amount of interest which is also known as RIBAH, there in Islamic bank we get a certain share of banks total profit. In this report I try to show that how the Islamic banking system differ from conventional banking system by regarding the concern of Social Islami Bank. Social Islami Bank Limited (SIBL) is a banking company registered under the companies Act 1994 with its head office 15 Dilkusha C/A, Dhaka-1000. The bank operates as a scheduled bank under a banking license issued by the Bangladesh Bank. The Bank started its operation from 22, November 1995. SIBL is a capitalized new generating Bank with an authorized capital of Taka10000 Million in 2014 and paid up capital of Taka 7031.415640 million in 2014 and also 6939.9257 million respectively as of December 2013. Whatever we see or the images we look at are made up of lights reflected from the object we look at. Cornea, lens acquas humor, sclera, retina, choroid, optic nerve each of these components are equally important for eyesight. A slight defect in any part of these components will highly effect to our eyesight. Our main aim is to identify all the eyesight related problems through object detection using image processing. Our target result will be within a range of -1 to1 which will be the structural difference between healthy and unhealthy human eyes. We have identified the problems following two algorithms, one is SSIM and another is Eucledian Distance. In SSIM, we are comparing one healthy eye to another infected eye to distinguish the difference, by which we suggest the detected anomaly to the user. In Eucledian Distance, we are measuring the size of the IRIS to detect eye anomalies like myopia and lazy eye. In order to show the Determinants of commercial banks performance, there are two categories, namely internal and external factors that effects on commercial banks performance. Internal determinants are of statement variables and non-financial statement variables. While financial statement variables relate to the profitability, which are within the control of bank management, can be broadly classified into two categories, i.e. financial decisions which directly involve items in the balance sheet and income statement; nonfinancial statement variables involve factors that have no direct relation to the financial statements. External factors are those factors that are considered to be beyond the control of the management of a bank. This study comes to examine and analyze the factors that might affect on the performance of Bank Asia’s during the period of 2005 through 2010. The analysis revealed that there are significant and positive relationship between ROA and Bank size, TL/TA, NIM, TE/TA and negative correlation between ROA and. Annual Growth Rate for GDP, Inflation rate, earning per share and Debt to equity. Also this study found that there are significant and positive relationship between ROE and Bank size, TL/TA, NIM, TE/TA and negative correlation between ROE and. Annual Growth Rate for GDP, Inflation rate, earning per share and Debt to equity.
