M. R. I.; Chowdhury, S.; Hasan, A.In recent days concrete usage has been increased all over the world. Concrete is one of the most developed materials. Different types of waste materials used in concrete as fiber reinforcement to develop its mechanical performance. Steel fiber is such type of waste material used in concrete. The main focus of this paper is to improve the compressive and tensile strength of concrete using steel fibers as fiber reinforcement. In this paper, several number of normal concrete cylinders and several number of fiber reinforced concrete cylinders with addition of 1%, 2% and 3% of steel fiber are investigated. Several tests have been performed under UTM Machine. Compressive strength & split tensile strength of concrete are found better for 2% addition of steel fiber. This paper shows a summary of the improvement of concrete’s mechanical performance including steel fiber as fiber reinforcement.Item Design and analysis of single-mode pcf in optical communication covering e to l bands with ultra-high negative dispersion(Researchgate, 2017) Islam, M. I.; Khatun, M.; Ahmed, K.; Asaduzzaman, S.; Paul, B. K.; Islam, M.S.; Chowdhury, S.; Sen, S.; Miah, M.B.A.; Bahar, A.N.A single-mode square photonic crystal fiber (S-PCF) for the wide-band dispersion compensation at the wavelength interval 1340 to 1640 nm over the telecommunication windows is represented. In the numerical analysis of several guiding properties of the photonic crystal fiber (PCF), a finite-element method has been applied over the entire wavelength band. According to the investigation, the proposed PCF is strongly single-mode, has an ultra-high negative dispersion coefficient of about −1732.10 ps/(nm · km) at an operating wavelength of 1550 nm, and is perfectly applicable to optical transmission systems. The single-mode behavior of the S-PCF is examined by applying the 𝑉 parameter. By the exquisite dispersion analysis, this fiber is more robust for obtaining the ultra-high negative dispersion, which gains more promiscuous as compared to the prior best results. For high-speed transmission systems, such fibers are effective as compensating the dispersion and maintaining a single polarization, as well as in fiber loop mirrors and many other applications like the four-wave mixing. A.; Rahman, S.; Adnan, R.; Saud, B.; Chowdhury, S.The vegetable salad is a popular and healthy food for human beings. It may be contaminated by a lot of microbes. This research work was conducted to isolate and identify the Escherichia coli and Salmonella bacteria from mixed vegetable salad in Dhaka City, Bangladesh from 2020 to 2021. A total number of 120 mixed vegetable salad samples were collected from different restaurants, food corners and street vendors. Bacteria were identified based on cultural, staining and biochemical properties. Total viable count (TVC) and total coliform count (TCC) were determined. The mean ±SD values of TVC (log10CFU/gm) were 6.07±0.69, 5.42±0.69 and 7.04±0.48 for restaurant, food corner and street vendor, respectively. The TCC (log10CFU/gm) were 6.20±0.59, 5.23±0.59 and 6.70±0.57 in restaurant, food corner and street vendor samples, respectively. The highest contaminations of E. coli and Salmonella spp. were observed in street vendor salads which were 15% and 7.5%, respectively. The antimicrobial sensitivity test showed resistance to ampicillin, amoxicillin and tetracycline, while sensitive to ceftriaxone, gentamicin and streptomycin for both types of bacteria. So, these bacteria are zoonotic and the salad from different food shops should be prepared hygienically prior to consumption.Item Impact of health education on the feeding of green leafy vegetables at home to children of the urban poor mothers of Bangladesh(1994-05) Rahman, M. M.; Hasan, K. B. M. Rajibul; Nitsenko, V.Purpose. To examine long-run and short-run eff ects of industrial fi nancial development on carbon emissions in Bangladesh. Methodology. The auto-regressive distributed lag model was implemented on the data collected from 1976 to 2020 to exhibit cointegration in regression form. Traditional unit roots as well as the Zivot-Andrews structural break test was conducted for investigating a signifi cant single-break. The auto-regressive distributed lag model (ARDL) model approved long-run cointegration having a structural break in this study. Findings. The results conclude that energy consumption triggers carbon emissions with a signifi cant eff ect on short and longrun models but fi nancial development has no signifi cant eff ect on environmental degradation. A considerable U-shape Environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis is observed at the nexus of carbon emissions and economic growth. Originality. The current study proposed to contribute to the existing literature by assessing the eff ects of fi nancial development, economic growth, and energy consumption on environmental degradation in Bangladesh using modern econometric methodologies. Practical value. The results obtained will be useful to scientists, economists and practitioners dealing with economic and environmental development of diff erent industries. Keywords: fi nancial development, industry, energy consumption, ARDL, economic growth, environmental degradationItem WARM UP ACTIVITIES TO ENHANCE LEARNING IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE CLASSROOM: PERSPECTIVES OF AGRICULTURE STUDENTS(Sher-e-Bangia Agricultural University Research System (SAURES), 2020-07) Chowdhury, S.Warm up activity refers to gentle and fun-bused exercises which could be vcry instrumental and effective tools to teach English language to Agriculture students. Adapting mixed method research, this study investigates Agriculture students' perception toward the role of the warm up activiues 111 classroom learning, and the problems faced by them in practicing the activities. Through the discussion on the findings. the importance of'usmg warm up activities in English language classroom has been highlighted, The findings of the study 1lI1Iyinspire not only the English language teachers but also the teachers from other disciplines to facilitate uppropriatc warm up activities 10 accelerate classroom teaching and learning.Item Zinc supplementation in children with cholera in Bangladesh : randomised controlled trial(2008) Roy, S.
