A Brief Overview on Electrical Power Generation in Shahjalal Fertilizer Company Limited and Overhauling in the Power Generating Unit
(Daffodil International University, 2019) Arefin, Shamsul
The production activities of several important Industrial sectors in Bangladesh depend on an inadequate supply of natural gas. Natural gas is the main raw material for urea manufacture and basic components for production of urea, ammonia and carbon dioxide. First of all natural gas is cracked by steam in the primary and secondary reformer to produce carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and hydrogen. Moreover air is also added to the secondary reformer as a source of nitrogen. Carbon monoxide is converted to Carbon dioxide in the shift converters and carbon dioxide is separated from the gas steam in the carbon dioxide removal plant and send into urea plant under high pressure. Remaining components of the gas steam i.e. nitrogen and hydrogen react together under pressure and temperature to from ammonia. This ammonia and carbon dioxide then react together in pool reactor under controlled pressure and temperature to produce urea. Later on this liquid urea is supplied to granulator where spray of liquid urea being bonded with the small amount of binder. The granular urea is bagged with 50 kg content in polythene inserted polythene bags and delivered to the distribution barge and truck and rail wagons from the factory premises.

An Implementation of Sustainable Solar Powered Mosquito Trap Device
(Daffodil International University, 23-01) Ahmad, Kanij; Arefin, Shamsul
Mosquito control is an ongoing problem that must be constantly monitored and achieved. This is due to the creature's ability to transmit a variety of deadly diseases, and mosquitoes kill one million people each vear. Traditional insecticide and bug zapper prevention methods are ineffective and have an adverse effect on the environment in a diverse range of ways, including the extinction of beneficial insects, mosquito biological evolution, and climate change. A solar-powered mosquito trap is developed in this study to attract mosquitos into the trap by sucking them toward a shock net while they are drawn to an SMD LED light.

Fire and safety engineering in the garment factory of Bangladesh
(IUT, MCE, 2016-11-20) Arefin, Shamsul; Abedin, Saadman; Azam, Sheikh Shafqat
In Bangladesh businesses are growing at an ever fast rate. New businesses are opening everyday in every possible sector. Taking purchasing power parity into account Bangladesh is the 44th largest economy in the world. Bangladesh is also listed in the N-11 (next 11) by the Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. Among all the industries, at present textiles and readymade garments‟ industry are the top ones. Recently WTO has ranked Bangladesh as the 4th largest exporter of readymade garments‟ in the world. This sector contributes for 75% of foreign currency earning for Bangladesh. Textiles and Readymade Garments‟ sector contributes 13% of GDP and employs more than 3,000,000 people. It has bought benefit and blessings for millions of people in the country. This industry has played a significant role in elevating economic and living standard of millions of families all over the country. Along with bringing blessing for the nation, textile and RMG industry also hold the record of experiencing some worst industrial accidents in the country. Taking advantage of poor surveillance of concerned authorities‟ rules, laws and codes are often violated in construction sector of our country and factory buildings are no exception. It is popularly believed and often proven true by incidences that the building codes are only maintained in paper works and hardly during the construction phase. Later as the owner focuses on the interior works, machine placement etc. the floors are often over loaded with machineries, causing more population load during operational hours, narrowing circulation spaces, thus making it difficult for the people to access the emergency route during an emergency. Many factories do not arrange regular drill; therefore the workers discover themselves in an alien situation whenever an emergency situation arises, causing panic, stampede etc. that further escalate the degree of casualty. On the basis of the situation of most recent Bangladeshi factory fire it is very obvious that any person unconscionably may lose his or her life in the name of garment manufacturing any time. In our presentation we will review the current situation of fire and safety in garment factories with respect of the global parameters, their lacking and the modification that has to be made. The common equipments that are being used in our garment factories are Fire extinguishers, Fire sprinklers, smoke alarms. But the structure of the buildings are so poor that fire escape are not that much effective for large number of workers. Besides they do not follow the building code properly. Even the number of equipment used in a garment factories are not that much. In our presentation we will highlight the lacking of equipment being used and needed for the factories, the solution to this problem on our point of view on the basis of current situation of Bangladesh,

    Interactive Gesture Chair
(Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Islamic University of Technology, Gazipur, Bangladesh, 2015-11-15) Arefin, Shamsul; Foysol, Muhaiminul Islam
A computer operator or an office worker now-a-days spend most his time sedentary. Technology is improving day by day and we are also becoming mechanic. Office employees have to stay in front of the PC almost all the day long and this sedentary behavior is not good for health. As a consequence people of all ages can suffer through health problems. Doctor suggested to make some movements during office time so that the probability of attacking by chronic diseases decreases. Therefore many proposals had been proposed to keep people moving during work time. However, for most office workers it is difficult to achieve a considerable reduction of the time spent seated within the office environment. To promote physical activity even in such sedentary situations, this work explores the possibilities of using an interactive office furniture to smoothly integrate physical activity into the daily working routine Chair is the most frequently used furniture by the office workers. We have made a system to interact with the PC using chair. By equipping motion sensing sensors with a chair the movement of the user can be detected which can be used as input device for PC. This way, the “Interactive Gesture Chair” becomes an input device that is ubiquitously embedded into the working environment, and provides an office worker with the possibility to use the movements of his body for rotating, tilting, or bouncing a chair to intuitively control the operations in Desktop Computer. In our thesis work we have used thresholding to define the chair gestures/movements. By analyzing the result we saw that threshold based gestures vary with the variety of weight of the people i.e. the people with different weights have different threshold value for same gesture. Then we tried machine learning algorithms to define gestures so that defined gestures should work for the people of different weights. First of all we tried Euclidian distance method to define gestures. Then we tried Dynamic Time Warping algorithm to define gestures and then we tried decision tree to find a universal threshold for gestures. These defined gestures can be used to control many application of PC. We defined these gestures to control Windows Multimedia Player.

Web Application Development Using PHP Laravel Framework
(Daffodil International University, 2019-04) Ahamed, Farhan; Arefin, Shamsul; Aume, Nahian
Web application development using php with laravel framework was the main objective of this project. To develop a web Based application or software there are several programming languages that are in use in today’s world. Some of them are only used for the front-end and back-end design of the software. For example- HTML5, CSS3, and Bootstrap Framework etc. There are also some other programming languages that are used to develop the dynamic functions of the software or application. For example: PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, Ajax, Laravel, etc. Now days there are also some frameworks that are used vastly. Frameworks are basically structured programming by using Theme Plugin, addons and Model. Laravel is a free, open-source PHP web framework. Laravel is intended for the development of web applications following the model–view–controller (MVC) architectural pattern. Some of the features of Laravel are a modular packaging system with a dedicated dependency manager, different ways for accessing relational databases, utilities that aid in application deployment and maintenance. This report illustrates my knowledge that I have gathered my experience with different tools and also some new term that I became familiar with. I am also highly indebted to my supervisor, who seemed to have solutions to all of my problems.
