Item A Ripple Effect of Covid-19 Pandemic on Shortage of Medicinal Products and Its Impact on Patient Care(International Journal of Applied Pharmaceutics, 2021) Dey, Biplab Kumar; Myrsing, Efficiency; Amin, Ruhul; Alam, Faruk; Rahman, Mizanur; Gogoi, Pal; Afroz, TahminaObjective: Shortages of medicinal products are complex global problems. Drug shortages remain a significant public health issue. Global shortages of medical products have a potential effect on patient health and total healthcare costs. Countries worldwide, especially those affected by Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), is experiencing a rapid increase in drug shortage, which causes several complications for physicians, health care provider, patients, health institutes and health regulatory bodies. Methods: To carry out the study of shortages, several efforts have been taken by the regulators and industries. Prominent amongst these include FDA's research the needs and the reforms made in the regulations about shortages. We also searched for electronic databases (PubMed, Science direct, Web of Science) using the terms (COVID-19 and shortage) or (medicine and COVID-19) for articles in periods of 2019 to 2021. Results: On assessment based on the report, the number of shortage drugs in 2020 is 835; Anesthesia drugs are highest during the COVID-19 outbreak data indicate the number of shortages is 143 in USA. It was found that generic products were mostly in short supply, with antimicrobial agents (63%) topping the list of therapeutic categories of medicines with interrupted supply, followed by oncology medicines (47%) and then anesthetic agents (38%) during COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusion: Many steps have been taken to reduce the impact of a shortage of health care. Agencies like the United States Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) and European Medicines Agency (EMA) has established guidelines and works with manufacturers and other partners to help prevent shortages. This article aims to the analysis the root cause of medicinal product shortages, their effects on the patient outcome, medication error, which occurs due to the substitution safe and effective therapies with alternative treatments, identify possible solutions and policies established to manage medicinal product shortages.Item Bangladeshi Dialect Recognition using MFCC, Delta, Delta-delta and GMM(East West University, 9/10/2015) Amin, Ruhul; Rahman, ZahidaAutomatic recognition systems are commonly used in speech processing to classify observed utterances by the speaker identity, dialect and language. A lot of research has been performed to detect speeches, dialects and languages of different region throughout the world. But the work on dialects of Bangladesh is infrequent to our research. These dialects, in turn, differ quite a bit from each other. In this paper, we propose a method to detect Bangladeshi different dialects which utilizes Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC), its Deltas and Delta-Deltas as main features and Gaussian Mixture Models (GMM) to classify characteristics of a specific dialect. Particularly we extract the MFCC, Deltas and Delta-Deltas features from the speech signal. Then they are merged together to form a feature vector for a specific dialect. GMM is trained using the iterative Expectation Maximization (EM) algorithm where feature vectors are served as input. This scheme is tested on 5 databases of 30 speech samples each. Speech samples are contained dialects of Borishal, Noakhali, Sylhet, Chittagong and Chapai Nobabgonj regions of Bangladesh. It mesmerizes everyone. In various parts of our lives, technology will play an important role in helping aspects of our lives. Today's computer vision technology is powered by deep learning algorithms that make sense of images using a special form of the neural network, called a convolutional neural network (CNN). In deep learning, we can use the convolutional neural network (CNN) to get state-of-the-art accuracy in various classification problems, such as image info, CIFAR-100, CIFAR-10, MINIST data sets. In this work, we propose a new system to identify automatic self-ruling decision-making and predictive models using a convolutional neural network for different types of local image flower detections (CNN). A lot of research has been done previously on flower classification in image classification issues, but our related issue of local Bangladeshi flower detection problem does not work on any model and any datasets. We have retrained the final layer of the CNN architecture, MobileNet, Inception V3, VGG16 for classification approach, for solid architecture. Predicting between 6 different types of flower pictures (AKONDO, DADMORDON, DUTURA, KOCHURIPANA, SIALKATA, VATFUL). We suggested an overall accuracy of about 90 percent that can be used for various purposes, such as different implementations of the operating system.Item Beliefs, practices, and advice received on nutrition and health during pregnancy: Qualitative reports from pregnant women in rural Bangladesh (P10-021-19)(Oxford Academic, 6/13/2019) Nath, Preyanka; Byrd, Kendra; Das, Jyoti; Sharmin, Afsana; Amin, Ruhul; Rahman, Mahbubar; Mridha, MalayObjectives: Many Bangladeshi women consume a diet that is low in nutrients, and in addition do not gain enough weight during pregnancy. We sought out to identify practices and perceptions that act as barriers to consuming both enough food and nutrient-dense foods during the pregnancy period. We also asked women where they received support and information regarding their pregnancy. Methods: We randomly selected households in two villages of the Kishorganj district in rural Bangladesh and conducted purposive sampling to identify households with currently pregnant women. Women were invited to a central location to attend a focus group discussion (FGD) in a small group of other pregnant women. Discussion guides were created based on barriers to healthy eating that had been documented in the literature in similar settings. All interviews were conducted in Bengali with a trained field staff. Interviews were recorded and transcribed in Bengali. Data reduction was achieved by using an analytic questionnaire. Results: Four focus group discussions were carried out with 40 pregnant women, of which the average age was 24 years. Data collection was done during the month of May 2017. Some women reported that they increased their food consumption during pregnancy, while others reported that they had trouble consuming enough food as fatigue and nausea decreased their desire to eat. Regardless of amount, most women reported consumption patterns of rice and vegetables daily, fish weekly, and meat fortnightly. However, many women reported the avoidance of certain foods such as specific fish, fruits, and vegetables according to the advice from the family members and/or health care providers. Additionally, we uncovered some knowledge gaps regarding recommended weight gain during pregnancy. Family members, neighbors, and health workers were found as part of the support system for pregnant women. Conclusions: Women overall have many positive dietary practices in this region of rural Bangladesh, but there is potential to increase both the quality and quantity with additional community-wide sensitization on nutrition. Biochar is comparable to charcoal and activated charcoal because it is a pyrogenic carbonaceous matter made by pyrolyzing organic carbon-rich materials. There is a lack of research into the effects of adding biochar to animal feed. Based on the reviewed literature, including its impact on the adsorption of toxins, blood biochemistry, feed conversion rate, digestion, meat quality, and greenhouse gas emissions, adding biochar to the diet of farm animals is a good idea. This study compiles the most important research on biochar's potential as a supplement to the diets of ruminants (including cows and goats), swine, poultry, and aquatic organisms like fish. Biochar supplementation improves animal growth, haematological profiles, meat, milk and egg yield, resistance to illnesses (especially gut pathogenic bacteria), and reduced ruminant methane emission. Biochar's strong sorption capacity also helps efficiently remove contaminants and poisons from the animals' bodies and the farm surroundings where they are raised. Animal farmers are predicted to make greater use of biochar in the future. Biochar could potentially be of value in the healthcare and human health fields; hence research into this area is encouraged. The present review highlights the potential benefits of biochar as an additive to animal feed and demonstrates how, when combined with other environmentally friendly practices, biochar feeding can extend the longevity of animal husbandry.Item Central Composite Designed Fast Dissolving Tablets for Improved Solubility of the Loaded Drug Ondansetron Hydrochloride(Daffodil International University, 2022-08-21) Thalluri, Chandrashekar; Amin, Ruhul; Mandhadi, Jithendar Reddy; Gacem, Amel; Emran, Talha Bin; Dey, Biplab Kumar; Roy, Arpita; Alqahtani, Mohammed S; Refat, Moamen S.; Safi, Sher Zaman; Alsuhaibani, Amnah MohammedOndansetron tablets that are directly compressed using crospovidone and croscarmellose as a synthetic super disintegrant are the subject of this investigation. A central composite, response surface, randomly quadratic, nonblock (version 13.0.9.0) 32 factorial design is used to optimize the formulation (two-factor three-level). To make things even more complicated, nine different formulation batches (designated as F1-F9) were created. There were three levels of crospovidone and croscarmellose (+1, 0, -1). In addition to that, pre- and postcompressional parameters were evaluated, and all evaluated parameters were found to be within acceptable range. Among all postcompressional parameter dispersion and disintegration time, in vitro drug release experiments (to quantify the amount of medication released from the tablet) and their percentage prediction error were shown to have a significant influence on three dependent variables. Various pre- and postcompression characteristics of each active component were tested in vitro. Bulk density, tap density, angle of repose, Carr's index, and the Hausner ratio were all included in this analysis, as were many others. This tablet's hardness and friability were also assessed along with its dimension and weight variations. Additional stability studies may be conducted using the best batch of the product. For this study, we utilised the Design-Expert software to select the formulation F6, which had dispersion times of 17.67 ± 0.03 seconds, disintegration times of 120.12 ± 0.55 seconds, and percentage drug release measurements of 99.25 ± 0.36 within 30 minutes. Predicted values and experimental data had a strong correlation. Fast dissolving pills of ondansetron hydrochloride may be created by compressing the tablets directly.Item Cinnamon as a Potential Feed Additive: Beneficial Effects on Poultry Health and Production Performances – An Update(Horizon Publisher, 2023-06-30) A. Poultry production has increased significantly with the dramatic uptick in meat and egg demand. Feed accounts for between 65 and 70 percent of total production costs, making it the largest chicken industry expense. This is why it's important to maximize the transformation of poultry feed into feed with a high biological value while taking as many steps as possible to protect feed quality and reduce feed costs. The use of feed additives in poultry feed has recently gained popularity and has been essential to increase feed efficiency and growth rate, which typically leads to reduced costs. The meat's texture, consistency, and nutritional content are all improved, and its shelf life is lengthened as a bonus. Feed additives are a fantastic tool for boosting a poultry farm's bottom line. For example, cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) is often used as a traditional feed supplement. Rather than antibiotics, the poultry industry could benefit from using cinnamon as a natural antibiotic replacement, which would benefit animal welfare, consumer health, and the bottom line. The performance index, feed intake, FCE performance, and weight growth of poultry can all be improved by including cinnamon in the feed at varied concentrations. The digestive health and intestinal microbial population of hens are enhanced by a diet containing bioactive components of cinnamon. Cinnamon essential oils' popularity stems from their many valuable features, such as their ability to increase gastric enzyme synthesis and other biofunctional benefits. Mizanur; Novakovic, Radmila; Dastan, Sevgi Durna; Kabra, Atul; Sharifi-Rad, JavadPolyalthia suberosa (Roxb.) is a plant used to cure coughs, dysentery, fevers, joint aches, rheumatic pain, inflammation, and a variety of skin diseases. The aim of the study was to evaluate the ethyl acetate extract of Polyalthia suberosa (P. suberosa) leaves and their effects on mice for neuropharmacological, analgesic, and antidiarrheal activities. For neurological studies, the hole cross, hole board, open field, and thiopental sodium-induced sleep duration measurement methodologies were used. The castor oil-induced diarrhea inhibition test was used to assess antidiarrheal action, and the acetic acid-induced writhing inhibition test was used to determine analgesic effectiveness. The extract was given in doses of 250 and 500 mg kg−1 body weight. As a standard drug, diazepam at a dosage of 3 mg kg−1 was used. The extract was also given to groups, and sleep time was measured and recorded. The onset of the anxiolytic effect of the extract at both doses was found to be significant ( < 0.001), and sleep time increased to 273 minutes. For assessing analgesic activity, the extract along with standard diclofenac was administered and found to be 55.02 percent and 64.33 percent, respectively, for the extracts, and diclofenac was found to be 67.44 percent ( < 0.001). For antidiarrheal activity, it was compared with the standard drug, loperamide. The decrease for plant extracts was 50.07 percent and 70.06 percent at 250 mg kg−1 and 500 mg kg−1, respectively, whereas it was 85.01 percent for loperamide (3 mg kg−1) ( < 0.00). In this study, it was found that ethyl acetate extract of Polyalthia suberosa leaves had strong CNS depressant, analgesic, and antidiarrheal activities, which indicates that it may be used in contemporary medicine.Item "Exploring Apigenin's Potential: Novel Bioactive Molecules for Colon and Lung Cancer Treatment - Insights from Computational and SAR Analysis(Daffodil International University, 2024-05-18) Amin, RuhulResearch attempts are still being driven by the need to find successful therapies for lung and colon cancer, with an emphasis on utilizing natural substances. Of them, apigenin has attracted notice due to its intriguing bioactive characteristics. This work investigates the creation of novel bioactive compounds using apigenin and its metabolites for the treatment of lung and colon cancer. It does this by using computational and structure-activity relationship (SAR) methodologies. We are able to learn more about the pharmacological profiles and molecular interactions of these drugs using SAR analysis and computational modeling. This has sparked the invention of several linked chromatography methods, each of them with distinct separation principles and affinity for the analyte of interest. Multidimensional chromatography consists of the combination of multiple chromatography techniques, with great benefits at the level of efficiency, peak capacity, precision, and accuracy of the analysis, while reducing the time required for the analysis. Various coupled chromatography techniques have recently emerged, including liquid chromatography–gas chromatography (LC–GC), gas chromatography–gas chromatography (GC–GC), liquid chromatography–liquid chromatography (LC–LC), GCMS–MS, LCMS–MS, supercritical fluid techniques with chromatography techniques, and electro-driven multidimensional separation techniques. There is much interest in this chemical’s production because of the strong and vital biological action it possesses. Substituted aromatic aldehydes were combined with 2-amino-benzothiazole-6-sulfonic acid amides, or Schiff base derivatives, to create Schiff base derivatives. Recrystallized, characterized, and tested for diuretic efficacy in vivo using online tools, m.p. (melting point), Rf, FTIR (Fourier transform infrared), 1H-NMR (proton nuclear magnetic resonance) data The molecular characteristics of all the substances created were estimated using Lipinski’s rule of 5, OSIRIS (software) molecular property explorer, Molsoft, and Autodock 4.0 docking software. Male Wistar rats were used to make all the compounds traditionally in order to test for diuretic activity. Neither the elemental nor the spectral information for the synthesized compounds disagreed. There were five different methods used to evaluate these compounds: Lipinski rule of five, Molsoft to determine molecular characteristics, PASS (prediction of activity spectra for substances) values to determine the diuretic effect, and OSIRIS software to determine toxicology. In order to investigate the diuretic effects of the selected drugs, docking analysis was used. Panchgavya is also known as Cowpathy in Ayurveda. In India, the cow is revered as a goddess known as "Gaumata" because of its nurturing qualities similar to those of a mother. Almost no adverse effects are associated with using Panchgavya, which is why it is recommended in Ayurveda for treating disorders affecting numerous body systems. Its possible antimicrobial effects have piqued the curiosity of medical researchers and practitioners. Cow milk is widely regarded as a nutritious diet and has been shown to effectively treat various medical conditions, including high body temperature, pain, cancer, diabetes, kidney diseases, and weakness. Milk can prevent the growth of microorganisms, has erotic qualities when combined with the leaves of medicinal herbs, and the fat in milk has anticancer characteristics. Toned and skim milk, lassi, yoghurt, cottage cheese, and khoa all come from milk and have important medicinal characteristics. Curd (dahi) is recommended as a blood purifier for conditions such as hemorrhoids, piles, and gastrointestinal issues. Ghee made from cows has been shown to boost immunity. It is important to highlight the use of cow dung as an antifungal and for treating malaria and tuberculosis. It has the potential to aid in the development of a populace free from disease, the creation of sustainable energy systems, the fulfilment of all nutritional needs, the elimination of poverty, the promotion of organic farming culture, and the like. Cow urine is a powerful remedy for numerous medical conditions, including but not limited to epileptic convulsions, diabetes, hepatitis, inflammation, fever, and anaemia.
