Ruhul; Hossain, Ismail; Masud, Md. Obaidullah AlThis project is on “Application of Industrial Engineering In Garments Sewing Floor”. Traditionally operated garment industries are facing problems like low productivity, longer production lead time, high rework and rejection, poor line balancing, low flexibility of style changeover etc. These problems were addressed in this study by the implementation of lean tools like cellular manufacturing, single piece flow, work standardization, just in time production, etc. After implementation of lean tools, results observed were highly encouraging. Some of the key benefits entail production cycle time decreased by 8%, number of operators required to produce equal amount of garment is decreased by 14%, rework level reduced by 80%, production lead time comes down to one hour from two days, work in progress inventory stays at a maximum of 100 pieces from around 500 to 1500 pieces. Apart from these tangible benefits operator multiskilling as well as the flexibility of style changeover has been improved. This study is conducted in the stitching section of a shirt & pant manufacturing company. Study includes time studies, the conversion of traditional batch production into single piece flow and long assembly line into small wall cell.Item Daraz(Daffodil International University, 22-07-23) Amin, Md. RuhulOnline retail covers a wide range in industries. Buyer data survey, web based marketing strategy as well as online product feature presentation are some in this similarities between online store. Also, if your brand value is not strong, customers will not buy from you because this retails online as well as there are thousands in options as well as websites that people may buy online. Such strong brand equity is a must of an online retail business. Websites must be meaningful, practical as well as engaging, easy to implement, as well as frequently restructured to meet different consumer needs. Not only must a website to satisfy customers be a value-added product, but this company must be sold on a competitive price. Since people may easily compare this price in a product over this Internet, competitive pricing should be followed by an online retailer as well as not supported by a single company. (1) at online retail, this most important thing is that this distribution channel must be strong, this long waiting time of this product ordered by this customer may cause this customer to change his mind. Transparency at business practices is also important of consumers to trust a company as well as stay loyal to it. (1) There are many ways organizations may work together as well as generate income over this web. Obviously, this main source in income of online retail businesses is from providing their items to buyers or organizations. However, both B2C as well as B2B organizations may derive revenue by selling their management services through a membership-based model, such like Netflix, which charges. monthly costs of access. media content. Revenue may also be earned through web advertising. of example, Facebook earns revenue from ads served over its site by organizations that hope to serve Facebook's customers.Item Detection of new Delhi Metallo-β-lactamase-1 (NDM-1) gene from multidrug-resistant pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from Dhaka Medical College Hospital(BRAC University, 2018-12) Amin, Md. Ruhul; Hossain, M. MahboobNew Delhi Metallo-beta-lactamase-1 (NDM-1) producing superbugs create a global public health problem because of their resistance to most of the antibiotics. This study was conducted to determine the presence of NDM-1 producers in carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Bangladesh. Out of 120 gram-negative bacteria isolated from wound swab, 58 (48.33%) were Pseudomonas aeruginosa, 28 of which were from burn unit and 30 were from medicine, surgery, gynecology and obstetrics units. Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from burn unit showed more resistance to all other antibiotics than organism isolated from other units. Extended spectrum-β-lactamase (ESBL) producers were detected by double disk synergy test (DDS) and Metallo-β-lactamase (MBL) producers were detected by both Hodge test and double disk synergy test. Total 38 (31.67%) isolates were detected as ESBL producers and 40 (33.33%) were detected as MBL producers. In the case of Pseudomonas aeruginosa 17 (29.31%) were ESBL producers and 20 (34.48%) were MBL producers. Total 24 (41.37%) carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa were detected by the disk diffusion test of which 15 were from burn unit and 9 from other units. Carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa were screened for the presence of NDM-1 by PCR and 6 (25%) were found positive for blaNDM-1. In the case of the burn unit, 33.33% of carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa were NDM-1 producer. NDM-1 producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa were found 100% resistant to all commonly used antibiotics except colistin. The result of this study provided insights into the high proportion of NDM-1 producers among Pseudomonas aeruginosa in Dhaka Medical College Hospital and the importance of rational use of antibiotics.Item EFFECT OF BIO-CONTROL AGENTS FOR ECO-FRIENDLY MANAGEMENT OF OKRA SHOOT AND FRUIT BORER(Sher-e-Bangia Agricultural University Research System (SAURES), 2016) Amin, Md. RuhulItem EFFECT OF MICROCREDIT ON SOCIAL EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN BENEFICIARIES INVOLVED IN ASA(HAJEE MOHAMMAD DANESH SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY, DINAJPUR., 2012-12) Amin, Md. Ruhul; Kbd. Professor Dr. Saiful HudaThe objectives of this study were (i) to assess the nature and extent of the social empowerment of women beneficiaries through microcredit programme under ASA (ii) to explore the relationship between the selected characteristics of rural women and their social empowerment through ASA microcredit (iii) to identify the problems faced by women in utilizing microcredit. The selected characteristics were age, education, family size, annual income, cosmopoliteness, duration of involvement with ASA, credit received, savings and attitude towards ASA. The study was conducted with the women beneficiaries of one union under Dinajpur sadar upazila of Dinajpur district. Data were collected from a sample of randomly selected 102 women beneficiaries from a population of 255. Social empowerment of a respondent was measured by considering three dimensions: a) decision-making ability, b) social participation, and c) social mobility. The overall social empowerment score of a woman beneficiary was obtained by summing up her scores of dependent variables. Pearson’s correlation coefficient (r) was computed to explore relationship of the women’s individual characteristics with their empowerment. A pre-tested interview schedule was used to collect data from the women beneficiaries of ASA, which took place from 23 to 30 August, 2012 and final data collection was done from 1 September to 15 October, 2012. The majority (79.4 percent) of the respondents had medium social empowerment while 12.8 percent had low social empowerment and only 7.8 percent had high social empowerment. Among the nine independent variables, three variables namely cosmopoliteness, savings and attitude towards ASA had significant positive relationship with women’s social empowerment while age, education, family size, annual income, duration of involvement with ASA and credit received had no significant relationship with their social empowerment. Main problem of the women beneficiaries was ‘the amount of loan depends on the saving of the respondents’ followed by ‘non-getting credit at the time of need’.Item EFFECT OF MICROCREDIT ON SOCIAL EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN BENEFICIARIES INVOLVED IN ASA(HAJEE MOHAMMOD DANESH SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY, DINAJPUR, 2012-12) Amin, Md. RuhulThe most vivacious area of the image processing is image enhancement. Newer techniques and ideas are being routinely incorporated to this field for the proper enhancement to make the original image suitable for some specific purposes. However, the techniques that are suitable for X-ray image enhancement may not necessarily be suitable for enhancement of the Satellite Telescope Transmitted (STT) images. Many times, Medical images especially X-ray images are required to be sharper than its original version for proper information extraction that is necessary for diagnostic purposes. Homomorphic filters that actually belong to the group of the sharpening filters can be employed for finding fine details in the X-ray images. The Homomorphic filters use the Discrete Fourier Transforms (DFT) as the core transform. Presently, more efficient tools for transformations are being used; such as the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT), Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and Fast Wavelet Transform (FWT) in digital image processing. In this paper, along with the conventional DFT technique, DCT, DWT, FFT and FWT are incorporated in the image transformation process that consequently modifies the core process of Homomorphic filters. The performance of the resulting modified Homomorphic filters are compared with that of the original filter. The performance enrichment has become evident from the numerical and the visual comparisons.Item Growing electrostatic modes in the isothermal pair plasma of the pulsar magnetosphere(© 2011 Springer Science+Business Media B.V., 2012) U. A., Mofiz; Amin, Md. Ruhul; Shukła, Padma KantIt is shown that a strongly magnetized isothermal pair plasma near the surface of a pulsar supports low-frequency (in comparison to electron cyclotron frequency) toroidal electrostatic plasma modes in the equatorial region. Physically, the thermal pressure coupled with the magnetic pressure creates the low frequency oscillations which may grow for particular case of inhomogeneities of the equilibrium magnetic field and the pair plasma density.Item Growing electrostatic modes in the isothermal pair plasma of the pulsar magnetosphere(© 2011 Springer Science+Business Media B.V., 2012) U. Mazharul; Hossain, Md Kamrul; Amin, Md. Ruhul; Kamal, Mostafa; Islam, Mohammad SaifulThe objective of this study was to examine the levels and determinants of knowledge and attitudes toward COVID-19 among adult people in Bangladesh, using data from an online survey, conducted in May 2021. Descriptive and inferential statistical analysis were performed to extract findings from data. The survey covered 993 respondents. A high level (78.4%) of effective knowledge and positive attitude (78.6%) were observed among the Bangladeshi people. More than eighty percent of the respondents could correctly mention at least one important symptom, mode of transmission, and preventive measures of COVID-19. Good knowledge and positive attitudes were found to be significantly higher among males, living in Dhaka city, having a higher level of education, health professionals, and the wealthiest people. Knowledge about COVID-19 has significant association with positive attitude of people towards COVID-19. Despite the high level of knowledge and positive attitudes, there still prevails some misconceptions among a group of people, as one-third of the respondents opined that COVID-19 is a divine punishment and 13% were in favor of keeping it secrete if COVID-19 infection happen to them. The findings underscore the need for more educational program and behavior change communication (BCC) for the subgroups of the population that has been identified with poor knowledge and negative attitudes towards COVID-19.Item Motivating volunteers : a case of cyclone preparedness programme volunteers in Bangladesh(BRAC University, 2012) Amin, Md. Ruhul; Mallick, Fuad H.Cyclone Preparedness Programme (CPP) volunteers are increasingly being relied upon to aware people living in the coastal belt of Bangladesh for reducing loss of lives and assets due to cyclone. This volunteerism is continuing for the last four decades with several unique challenges specific to availability of adequate equipment and limited resources for capacity of volunteers’ to play their roles during cyclone. The purpose of this study is to examine the factors affecting motivation of volunteers. Another aim was to identify the underlying causes and/or hindering factors that discourage or demotivates volunteers and finally to find out factors affecting female volunteers to work as volunteers at the time of disasters. This study uses data from qualitative interviews with 10 volunteer groups, 5 community groups and 16 key informants dealing with CPP to explore volunteer motivations. Besides, quantitative data was also used from an assessment conducted by CPP with support from Save the Children in 2009. Findings revealed that most of the volunteers reported having more than one motives for enrolling them as volunteers. Of the several categories of motivations identified, those relating to altruistic concerns for others and community, social responsibility, religious benefits, reputation and hoping to gain community recognition/ honor were the most frequently mentioned. Volunteers also saw volunteering as an opportunity to gain knowledge and skills and or to put their own skills to good use. A few of the volunteers were hoping to gain financial benefits in course of their volunteerism. The CPP has good understanding of volunteers’ motives but a mismatch between organizational goals and volunteer motivations, and inadequate funding meant that volunteers’ most pressing motives were not satisfied. This led to discontentment and resentment among volunteers.Item Nature of the Political Participation of the Oraon Community of Barind in Bangladesh(University of Rajshahi, 2012) Khan, Md. Mahfil; Amin, Md. RuhulPolitical participation is an important aspect in the arena of political science. It ensures productive and durable changes and may also be conceived as an undeniable human right in the context of equality. The world is becoming enriched with different resources but human right is on the brink of danger. So, people's participation of all aspects is an imperative to recover the human rights. Most of the Bangladeshi is ethnos linguistically homogeneous. Nevertheless, there is a distance among the more advanced or the civilized people and the tribal people though all are the citizens of Bangladesh whose different basic rights are ensured by the constitution of the Peoples' Republic of Bangladesh. There are 45 tribal communities in Bangladesh. Among them, the Oraon is one of the remarkable communities. Their number is more than one lakh and they live in the 16 districts of the north Bengal. So, as the citizen of Bangladesh, to know their nature of political participation is an imperative. The purpose of the study is to investigate the 'Nature of the political participation of the Oraon community of Barind in Bangladesh.' Almost all of the Oraon community people live in the villages with other communities including the Bangalies. As compared with others, they are a little bit indifferent on political participation and they do not realize the importance of their individual vote. Therefore, to know their political participation is the demand of the present era. This thesis describes different aspects related with their political participation; nature of their leadership, participation in local politics, participation in national politics, pattern of their political party choosing and finally whether there any political discrimination is prevailing as compared with others of the country. The study is based on data of two Oraon inhabited villages of Brind in Bangladesh based on Ninth national parliamentary election of 2008 and union council election of 2011. Against this background, the research study seeks to provide a wide description of how the political participation of the Oraon community people in the local as well as the national politics is. To investigate these questions, I employ both qualitative and quantitative research within a certain boundary of the Oraon community. The average literacy rate of the Oraon in Rajshahi district is only 5.6%. Their social status, economic condition as well as annual income is also very negligible. They have a little bit communication as well as the competition with the more advanced people. Overall, they are backward in all aspects as compared with other communities of the country. However, no remarkable development steps for their rapid upliftment have been taken on behalf of the state or GOs and NGOs. The study reveals that five tiers-oriented leadership of the Oraon community is present in Barend. They elect their leaders in democratic way and most of them obey their leaders. Their leadership is conducive for the general Oraon people for procuring their different rights. It is proved that there is an indirect influence of these leaders upon them in local or the national election. It is remarkable that their political participation is better than that of other communities. The political participation of the Oraon male in local election is 96.15% and in the national election is 99.36%. On the other hand, the political participation of the Oraon women in local election is 97.44% and in national election is 98. 72%. It is noteworthy that the political participation of the Oraon women is better than that of the Oraon male. All of them obey the election behavior. None of them violates the election law. It is also good sign that in spite of having different types of the influences upon them, approximately 31% Oraon community people change their political party if their chosen political party does not work well for them as well as the nation. At the same time, 47% of them also say that changing political party repeatedly creates the hindrances on the way to the political stability of the country. 40% Oraon people in local and 39% in national politics had no freedom of political activities that is the subject of thinking earlier. Besides; hindrances on the participation in procession and meeting, shortage of ability to vote the chosen candidate, lack of evaluation based on their worthiness in the political party, shortage of the political communication with the local chairman and MP, negation upon the importance of their different opinions, lack of having sitting capacity in a row like other of the political party, victims of different oppression for choosing their own political party, lack of participation in the decision making process of the government development, shortage of position in local political committees, shortage of empowerment, shortage of free movement and so on are some of the remarkable political discriminations upon them. The state should take the immediate initiatives to remove the above-mentioned short comings of the Oraon community. They have also suggested that the political party should culture the democracy, mitigate the absolute power of the party head, make leadership from the root level, elect or select party head for a certain period of time, need at best 4/5 political parties in the country, include Adebisi in the management and leadership of the political party, perform regular worker conference and party's internal election. If the state, political party, GOs and NGOs, different agencies of home and abroad, public-spirited persons of the country come forward to co-operate them on their different backward aspects, their entire betterment may be possible that make them educated and economically well to do. As a result, their nature of political participation both in local and national level will be more effective that may bring the entire and comprehensive political development and the nation may get freedom from the political chaotic situation and instability removing all sorts of the unconventional political participation.Item Online shopping experience & customer satisfaction of Direct Fresh Ltd.(BRAC University, 4/27/2016) Amin, Md. Zulfiquar Ali; Amin, Md. RuhulViolence includes mental torture, physical attack and destruction of property. Since independence, political violence in Bangladesh has resulted in a spate of occurrences and scores of casualties. Ruling party along with law-enforcement agencies and oppositions along with their allies took strong stances against each other. This study deals with this major crisis. The professed objectives were to identify nature, causes and consequences of violence in Bangladesh. To attain these objectives, this work limitedly used primary data, while extensively incorporated secondary data. The study period included six regimes from 1972 to 2006. Used methods were Historical, Case Study and Induction. Analysis reveals that abuse, assault, arrest-detention-imprisonment, vandalism, bombing, abduction and killing are common in this land. The main cause of violence was influence of imperialist great powers upon internal politics. These powers sometimes backed governments to suppress oppositions and sometimes backed oppositions to wage movement allegedly through supplies of money and arms. Godfathers, mostly ministers, MPs and local government heads, reared the armed youths and hired poor pickets, who perpetrated most crimes such as atrocious killing and terrifying bomb-blasting during strikes and elections. Because of political influence upon law-enforcement agencies and judiciary, criminals roved at large. Pakistan has allegedly backed Islamic fundamentalists and militants of Bangladesh since independence. International Islamist terrorist groups - Al-Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Harkat-ul- Jihad-al-Islami Pakistan, Rohingya rebel groups of Myanmar, Indian insurgent groups of Tripura and Assam had links with our rightwing and leftwing extremists. Socioeconomic factors such as poverty, little literacy or improper education, family background and change in values also begot political terrorists. Violence had impacts on person, family, society and state. Bomb-blasts and assaults took lives of those, who were only family earning members. These incidents increased disabled persons in society and caused economic downgrade in state. However, violence may be abated through taking some measures. These measures are free and fair elections, independent judiciary, economic development, unique, systematic and scientific educational system, ban on politics in educational institutes and alerts in boarder, hilly and forest areas.Item Primary Education Governance at Upuzila Level in Bangladesh(University of Rajshahi, 2018) Haque, Md. Hamidul; Amin, Md. RuhulAs an efficient management of primary education is the prerequisite of a success of primary education enhancement of a country, researches are required to provide a deep insight into the present scenario of primary education governance at upazila level in Bangladesh. This research has been conducted to disclose how to manage the primary education by the upuzila education offices, and roles of headmaster, SMC, and PTA chairman to govern the primary education. The study on primary education governance has been conducted in 38 schools of two upuzilas of Kushtia and Rajshahi district under two divisions of Khulna and Rajshahi in Bangladesh. We have strived to attain four specific objectives in this study. The study is an attempt to understand the structure of the SMC and PTA, process of formation of SMC and PTA, level of awareness and participation of both chairman in school activities, roles and functions envisaged in the light of national education policy 2010. The roles of headmaster, SMC and PTA chairman are important in the school management and their perception about the primary education has been judged through their identification of primary education functions. The SMC and PTA chairman are theoretically responsible to mobilize the local people for primary education accordingly, several meeting of SMC and PTA were held in the schools. The most pronounced success of the meeting is that they often discussed about the management problems of their respective schools. But it has been observed that these meeting are now becoming very irregular and the member are not very clear about their functions. The chairman of SMC and PTA has been found to play important roles in moulding the people and mobilizing the teachers and parents towards the advancement of primary education in the country. Education offices lack of desired monitoring and evaluation system to watch over and guide institutions which are quite large number, primarily due to lack of access and modern management tools. It is very important that the UEO and AUEO offices be equipped with computer for baseline information and periodic updating by each school of upuzilas. With regard to quality and management issues, the roles of headmaster and officials have been underline in various sector in primary education. Community mobilization should be taken by SMC and PTA to hold cultural, social and religious functions. Community support and donation to local schools should be acknowledge by management of the school, this will ensure sustained and even encourage bigger supports.Item Role of In-Service Training Program for Quality Education: A Study on Higher Secondary Teachers’ Training Institutes (HSTTI) in Bangladesh(University of Rajshahi, 2015) Islam, Md. Izaharul; Amin, Md. RuhulThe purpose of the study is to measure the impact and evaluation of HSTTIs Training provided to the higher secondary level (college) principals, subject teachers and computer teachers. The study work has been completed with a set of objectives to identify the change of trainees’ competence through the in-service training program provided by HSTTIs to the higher secondary level principals, subject teachers and computer teachers. The study has been done to analyze the trainees’ knowledge, skill and attitude before and after training program, and to find out the gap between rural and urban higher secondary level college teaching learning practice and class room delivery. The study has also been done to evaluate the impact of the training measured in terms of qualitative change on the high secondary level institutions. Primary data were basically collected from the field level working places of the trainees. There were four groups of respondents i.e. college principals-70, classroom subject teachers-298 and ICT based computer teachers-70 who received training from HSTTI, Rajshahi and HSTTI Barisal and other respondents of high officials, stakeholders-82 from the HSTTIs in Bangladesh. Questionnaires, interview schedule, observation and documents were used as data collection instruments. Data were presented by qualitative and quantitative approaches. For the data analysis, statistical techniques were used in different approaches such as tabular form, percentage, mean, standard deviation, graphical presentation, coefficient of variation two-way ANOVA analysis, DMRT test, chi-square test etc. In this study all respondent groups attached with the work almost equvocally agreed about the necessity and importance of In-service training for the college teachers. It was found that the training coursess organized by five HSTTI for college principals, subject teachers and computer teachers training are effective. The performance of trainee college teachers are deviated signifacantly between pre and post test in all the five HSTTIs. So the difference between the from the pre-training and post training evaluation way statistically significant (principal training p-value-0.000, tvalue- 20.88, computer teacher p-value- 0.000, t-value- 14.812, subject teacher p-value- 0.000, t-value- 20.638. This study are important findings that most of the respondents opined the training course content, training methodology, training objective and training evaluation process in very good. Secondly 70% of the respondent agrees that effectiveness of training outcomes for the institutional management of the higher secondary levels (college). In their study 70% respondents agree that effective change takes place after the teaching learning approaches through In-service HSTTI training program. 70% of the respondents opined that HSTTI In-service training impact on the field levels changed the student philosophy and other 30% respondent agreed to their self-development. All HSTTIs training programs are able to change the respondents (principals, subject teachers and computer teachers) knowledge, skill and attitude towards their professions. Then lastly In-service training has long term positive impact (in this study various dependent veriable chi-square test (2) and p-value test maximum result are significant) on quality education at the higher level institutions and on the working places of the trainees. So it should, here, be affirmed that the In-service teachers training at higher secondary level be organized regularly for professional improvement of the teachers vis-a-vis the developed quality of education. This study would help HSTTIs high authority to initiate the innovative mechanism for the development of managerial activities, strength and weakness of the training institute, training program, trainees, trainers/ resource persons and training environment of the higher secondary level institutions. Overall, the study has been able to fulfill the national goal in the field of educational management, subject and pedagogical, ICT in education of higher secondary level institutions in Bangladesh.Item Selection and evaluation of alternative fuel vehicles by multi-criteria decision making and cost- benefit analysis(Institute of Appropriate Technology (IAT), BUET, 2023-10-31) Amin, Md. Ruhul; Bhuiyan, Dr.Iftekhar uddinThe internal combustion engines of vehicles emit lots of pollutants like hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide which can lead to cancer, acid rain, heart disease and global warming. To avoid dangerous climate change, a variety of greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation actions must be taken in all sectors of the global energy system. Although diesel and gasoline are still the main energy sources used in urban transportation, alternative and transitional energy sources such as natural gas in alternative forms (CNG/LPG/LNG), compressed hydrogen, Biofuels, hybrid, electric, hydrogen fuel cell have been introduced. Alternative energy vehicles are cost-inefficient, less pollutant when compared to fossil-fuel based ones but involve some risk and health hazards if they are not handled properly. In this study, all hazards and potential risks associated with the alternative fuel vehicles such as CNG, LPG, Hybrid and the electric vehicles have been identified and assessed by physical investigation of the vehicles, CNG/LPG conversion workshops and the re-fueling stations for storing and dispensing the pressurized fuels. Selection of alternative fueled vehicles specially in highly polluted city like Dhaka in the developing country is a complex decision task, it is a multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) problem. Various technical, economic, environmental, safety issues and policy factors must be considered for the successful application of MCDM. In order to find out the best fueled vehicle in the context of Bangladesh, Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) which is one the most used MCDM method has been applied by interviewing the experts of academic institutions, research institutions, vehicle manufacturing or importing organizations, decision makers of government organizations etc. Findings of the study reveals that the electric vehicles (EV) are the least hazardous vehicle and the experts’ panel has expressed their opinion for the adoption of electric vehicles (EV) in the AHP analysis. But the outcome of cost-benefit analysis shows that the hybrid vehicle is the most suitable vehicle at the moment in the context of Bangladesh as the infrastructure for recharging the batteries of EV is not ready yet.
