Building A Long-Term Relationship Between Customer and Manufacturer
    (Uttara University, 2020-08-30) Ali, Sozad
Bangladesh is one of the leading countries in the global ready-made garment (RMG) industry, serving world-class buyers. However, increasing labor costs across Bangladesh and other Asian countries present a significant challenge to maintaining competitiveness in the apparel sector. To remain competitive, the industry must focus on enhancing productivity. Garment manufacturers often operate with a short-term vision of demand, leading them to minimize borrowing while striving for profitability. This paper explores strategies to improve productivity in the garment sector, focusing on the importance of consumer behavior, business strategy, advertising, and promotion. The study presents a merchandising and production flow diagram for three key departments—marketing, cutting, sewing and finishing, and quality assurance—at East West Industrial Park Limited. By streamlining production flow and addressing non-smooth flow issues through data collection and analysis, the company improved its production by 17% while maintaining the same resource utilization and working hours. The results highlight the significance of smooth production flow in increasing productivity in the garment industry. Keywords:
