Item Analysing the Variability of Rainfall Threshold Values for Drought Prognosis in Bangladesh(University of Rajshahi, 2013) Alam, Md. Mahbub; Rahman, M. Sayedur; Hossain, Md. RipterThe Rainfall plays a significant role in the agriculture of country. Rainfall is the most important weather parameter affecting non-irrigate crop areas for Bogra, Jessore and Feni water deficits and excess water are the greatest constraints for rainfall rice yields in this region. The daily rainfall data for 30 years during the period 1981-2010 of the rainfall stations in Bogra, Jessore and Feni are considered in this study. The daily data were reduced in the weekly form and the drought index has been calculated using the probability of Markov chain model. Drought is temporary but complex feature of the climate system. Agricultural drought is mainly concerned with inadequacy of rainfall. Markov chain model have been used to evaluate probabilities of getting a sequence of wet-dry weeks over this region. An index based on the parameters of this model has been suggested for agricultural drought measurement in this region. The results of our Bogra district annually rainfall data we observed the moderate drought, pre-kharif rainfall data we observed the mild occasional and moderate drought, kharif rainfall data we observed the occasional and rabi rainfall data we observed the chronic prone. As a result failure of rains and the occurrence of drought during any particular growing season lead to severe food shortages. A Markov Chain model is established to fit daily rainfall data for the various aspects of rainfall occurrence patterns and could be mathematically derived from the Markov Chain by using maximum likelihood estimate and these were also established to fit the observed data. The rainfall probability was not found to very much during rabi (November- February) season. But much more variation of rainfall probabilities was observed during both kharif (June-October) and pre-kharif (March- May) seasons. Obviously, one would presume conditions variation in these probabilities also yearly, seasonally and annually. Based on these findings and using chi-square test, it could be concluded that the model fit was good. This study investigates the methods to obtain estimates of the conditional probabilities, the probability of success and its probability distribution to describe the yearly, seasonal and annual variability. The limited data set the results are quite good and the model is doing a reasonably good job of daily rainfall.Item D-CARE: A Non-invasive Blood Glucose Measuring Technique for Monitoring Diabetes Patients(Daffodil International University, 2018-11) Alam, Md. Mahbub; Saha, Swapnil; Saha, ProshibDiabetes is a lethal disease in the world now a days as we all know. One out of eleven adults are now victim of this disease as per WHO. The common two types of diabetes are Type-1 and Type-2 diabetes. It's a must for a diabetes patient to maintain the blood glucose leveL It does not mean that the patient must not consume any kind of sugar. Human body needs glucose to work That's why a well-planned diet is required to control the disease. Here comes two terms related to blood glucose level; Hyperglycemia and Hypoglycemia. Hyperglycemia mean chronically high blood glucose levels and Hypoglycemia is the vice-versa of Hyperglycemia. Hyperglycemia can cause Stroke, Heart attack or Congestive Heart Failure, Kidney disease or even Nerve damage whereas Hypoglycemia can cause Unconsciousness, Severe confusion and disorientation, Seizures or even Death As there is no cure for this disease, constant monitoring of the blood glucose level has become the most effective solution for this disease. But the invasive method to measure blood glucose level might cause infection and its painful too. That's why non-invasive method has become the most reliable technique to measure blood glucose level and for constant monitoring of the patient.Item Labour contracting society (LCS) in public procurement: a case study in IWRMU at Local Government Engineering Department (LGED)(BRAC University, 2024-08) Alam, Md. Mahbub; Chowdhury, Mohammed Shoheler RahmanWith the goal of fixing the purpose of providing employment for impoverished local people, the government introduced the ‘Labour Contracting Society’ (LCS), comprising a group of men and/or women of poor local people to perform work for a government agency or project under 76(3) of PPR 2008. Before PPR in 2008, LCS is a participatory approach for the implementation of construction and maintenance of works. Keeping objective in reducing poverty without any tender competition, this article has been used as direct procurement. This report is about the operation and maintenance work conducted through LCS, its challenges, and the way forward under IWRMU and LGED. The study was conducted through a literature review, a questionnaire survey, and KII interviews. The findings from the literature reviews, questionnaire survey, and KII interview findings are analyzed. The findings and analysis form the basis of recommendations for future measures. It is clear from the analysis of various pros and cons and opinions received that the sustainable approach, a mixed LCS approach with proactive monitoring, will be able to accomplish the goals of work implementation, including poverty reduction. Finally, it needs to be backed up for additional study.Item Litchi Leaf Disease Recognition by Using Image Processing(Daffodil International University, 2021-01-31) Haque, Md. Imdadul; Alim, Md. In this term of condition this is become very important to grow our crops and fruits we need to increase their yields. In spite of being drastic and change able climate condition Bangladeshi people and farmers are fighting to grow their crops and fruits in critical way. As an agricultural country Bangladeshi people love fruits, but this is matter of sorrow that our fruits quality and quantity are decreasing for various disease. People of our country are finding many new rare diseases of our local fruits but we are failed to recognize these rare disease and quantity of this problem raised day by day. So a proper treatment or recovery is needed against this problem. As a Bangladeshi people, this is very challenging problem for us to detect this uncommon disease and need classification of these problems. As we are living in an era of technology so obviously technology can play vital role to recognize these diseases. As growing a good plant is depending on plant’s leaf so at first this is very important to recognized leaf disease. As a result, we can keep the leaves disease free and fruits also will be being disease free. In our research we are working to recognize leaf diseases. In Bangladesh Litchi is the most popular fruit so we are very interested to work for litchi leaf disease. Hence, we can take part in our Bangladeshi economy by keeping our litchi fruit disease free. For ensuring the freshness of leaves, we work with modern image processing tools that can help us a lot. It is so tough to detect all leaves disease by observing them with eye. Our technology comes with a modern technique named Image Processing. Classroom discussion alone cannot make a student perfect in handling the real business situation; therefore, it is an opportunity for the students to know about the real life situation through this program. A report has to be built for the university and organization requirement. The topic of the report is “Measuring the Effectiveness of Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) on Real Estate Business “at the Concord Real Estate Ltd. The main purpose of the report becomes very clear from the topic of the report. The report discusses about the different marketing tools used at the real estate industry to clearly position in mind of target customers. The final report covers the following chapters: Chapter 1: Includes the introduction of the study, justifications of the study, literature review, and gap of the previous studies, objective of the study, methodology and the limitation of the study. Chapter 2: It focuses on the conceptual framework of the report. Descriptions and role of different tools used in Integrated Marketing Communications such as Advertising, direct marketing, interactive marketing, sales promotion, public relation, personal selling, benefits and barriers in implementing IMC in real estate industry. Chapter 3: This chapter includes the overview of the real estate industry in perspective of Bangladesh. In the supplementary part there will be references and appendixes.Item Optimization of 2D photonic crystal waveguide using displacement and narrowing technique(BRAC University, 4/27/2013) Sharif, Nashad; Alam, Md. Mahbub; Belal BhuianIn this thesis, an approach to analyze PhC structures has been developed. This approach is based on the displacement and narrowing technique. The motive is to design and optimize the desired photonic crystal waveguides and to optimize the transmission loss. Firstly, a Z -shape, a Y-shape and a Mach Zehnder photonic crystal waveguide is designed and then the designs are optimized applying the displacement and narrowing technique. The displacement method allows altering positions of certain PhC rods/atoms, thus breaking the periodicity of the rods, which is known as the displacement of the PhC rods. The narrowing technique is mainly applied to alter the characteristics of the PhC rods/atoms, which basically implies that, it allows altering the shape or pattern of the PhC rods by changing its radius, width and other certain parameters. So basically, the parameters of the PhC rods have been modified according to the requirements. Then, the PhC waveguides have been fine-tuned by displacing these narrowed rods in the bending regions of the designed PhC waveguides. The resulting wave propagation through the optimized waveguide showed that relatively small design areas were enough to yield the wanted improvement in efficiency and the numerical results obtained have shown much improved transmission. The design has been realized in a gallium-arsenide photonic crystal structure. The whole design and simulation process including PhC band gap simulation and wave propagation analysis is done using the software RSOFT.Item Predicting and Staging Chronic Kidney Disease of Diabetes (Type-2) Patient Using Machine Learning Algorithms(International Journal of Innovative Technology and Exploring Engineering, Blue Eyes Intelligence Engineering & Sciences Publication, 2019-10-02) Basak, Setu; Alam, Md. Mahbub; Rakshit, Aniruddha; Marouf, Ahmed Al; Majumder, AnupMortality because of unending kidney disease increments essentially in recent years. Nowadays, about 422 million patients are suffering from diabetes among them around 30 percent of patients with Type 1 (adolescent beginning) diabetes and around 10 to 40 percent of those with Type 2 (grown-up beginning) diabetes in the end will experience the negative impacts of kidney damage. It is evident, that early detection of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) can mitigate the level of damage in the adulthood. In this paper, we have presented a comparative analysis based on the performance of five different algorithms-Naive Bayes (NB), In-stance Based Learning (IBK), Random Forest (RF), Decision Stump (DS) and Decision Tree (J48) for predicting CKD of diabetes patients only by urine test. Among all the algorithms the IBK gives the best result.
