Item Inclusion of slack bus in Newton Raphson load flow study(© 2014 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2014) Kabir, Shahriar Mahmud Lutful; Chowdhury, Abdul Hasib; Rahman, Dr. Md. Mosaddequr Abdur; Alam, JahangirLoad flow solution is an inevitable tool for power system planning and operation. Among various methods of load flow solution techniques Newton Raphson (N-R) and its derivatives are the most popular and widely used ones. In Newton Raphson method one of the generator buses is treated as slack bus which is kept out of calculation during iterations. This is because of the fact that the slack bus is to carry entire loss of the system and total loss cannot be calculated before the end of iterations. The exclusion of slack bus from the load flow iteration restricts many analyses to make. Consideration of distributed slack bus, load flow for Microgrids, study on minimization of system losses etc. cannot be performed when the slack bus is excluded from the iterations. This paper reports the development of a method of including slack bus into the Jacobians for N-R load flow study. The method involves formulating the loss equation and then devising the formula for the terms to be included with the elements of the Jacobian matrix. The modified N-R method is applied to all of the buses and the losses are calculated in each iteration and included with the slack bus. The results obtained using the modified method are compared with those using conventional method. The agreement of the results confirms the accuracy of the developmentsItem Individual differences in service quality of university libraries in Bangladesh(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2024) Alam, Jahangir; Matin, Wares; Begum, BilkisThis study measured the individual differences in the service quality of Bangladeshi university libraries by type of university, user and gender. A modified SERVQUAL (service quality) model was adopted for the academic library environment, which included 30 items under five dimensions with a 7-point Likert scale. The survey was conducted among 61 teachers, 50 researchers and 455 students from two public, two international and two private universities in Bangladesh. The individual differences in library service quality were calculated through an analysis of variance and independent sample t-test for the university, user and gender categories. The overall service quality was significantly different (p < .001) among the users of the public (M ¼ 4.02), private (M ¼ 5.08) and international (M ¼ 5.10) university libraries, as well as between male (M ¼ 4.48) and female (M ¼ 5.01) users. Several statistical methods supported the sampling adequacy, reliability and validity of the adapted model, which could be used as a basis for further assessments of library service quality by different demographic groups, both locally and globallyItem Infrared Remote Controlled Home Automation System Based on Microcontroller(East West University, 12/5/2016) Alam, Jahangir; Azam Koreshi, MaherulRemote controller is one of the applications of electronics to increase the facilities of life. In this project, an infrared remote controlled home automation system has been developed to make our life even easier. It gives one the ability to control multiple home appliances. The system has been designed in such a way that it can be used to control the home appliances using any infrared remote even the television remotes. The device supports two of the major infrared remote protocols NEC and RC5. The circuit has been designed based on PIC microcontroller 16F877A. To receive the infrared signal an IR receiver has been interfaced with the microcontroller. To control the home appliances relays have been used as power switches. To control the intensity of light/fan a MOSFET has been interfaced with the microcontroller using optocoupler. The program for the system has been developed using C programming language and compiled by CCS C compiler for the system. The whole system has been interconnected and the developed program has been burnt into the microcontroller using PicKit2. The performance of the system has been studied and it is found that the system works properly without any interruption of noise. The coverage range of the remote control has been measured and found that it works properly from a distance of 7 m.Item Internship Report on News Department of CHANNEL 9(Daffodil International University, 2014-10-11) Alam, JahangirInternships are a proven way to gain relevant knowledge, skills, and experience while establishing important connections in the field. Internships are also a way to get my feet wet and find out if a specific field is something I could see myself doing as a full-time job.Internship is considered as a course in Daffodil International University like other universities. To be a graduate from Daffodil International University, a student needs to complete his/her Internship. Generally the syllabus requires all students to do an internship at a firm, organization, institution and multinational company to get introduced and become familiar with professional world. It is a realistic experience of theoretically gained information and can be measured as an introduction trial to be familiar with the professional environment of any organization other than making an individual confident enough to enter professional life and construct the groundwork of her/his career.Item Local Fish Recognition(Daffodil International University, 2019-09-12) Alam, Jahangir; Shuva, Subrota Das; Saha, PriankaOur local fish are becoming extinct day by day. Known for the extinction of local fish in Bangladesh and the people of our country, we will detect local fish.in this paper a methodology has been detect to local fish. This paper will be identified by using color, shape, texture processing. In this research work we have achieved a huge accuracy of 88% using Random Forest Classifier. In this paper an automated approach is developed to detect local fish and recognition by using machine vision based image processing techniques which is implemented in “PYTHON” programming language on “ANACONDA” platform including a machine learning algorithm with the Random Forest Classifier.Item Power flow solution for micro grids with distributed slack bus(BRAC University, 2015-04) Alam, Jahangir; Kabir, Prof. Dr. S.M. It is periodically needed for preventing dangerous situations and ensuring safety in railways. In Bangladesh it has been seen many train accidents occur due to over gapping between rail lines and also due to missing of hooks which attach the tracks to the ground. At present, this task is operated manually by a trained human operator who periodically walks along the track searching for visual anomalies. This manual inspection is lengthy, laborious and subjective. This thesis presents a machine vision-based technique to automatically detect the presence of rail line hook and measure the gaps between each line to check whether the gap is safe or not. This inspection system uses real images acquired by a digital line scan camera installed under an automatic vehicle. Data are processed according to a combination of image processing and pattern recognition methods to achieve high performance automated detection. The scope of this project is strictly limited to the development of a machine vision based program capable of detecting the presence of parts of interest in rail tracks, from given rail track images.Item Study on Estimating Traffic Volume to Identify the Level of Service in Etakhola Intersection Narsingdi(Daffodil International University, 2024-12-12) Alam, JahangirIn order to evaluate how traffic Situated in an industrial area and assesses the intersection's efficacy, the study examines traffic patterns and establishes the service level at the signalisedItakhola intersection. at Narsingdi, Itakola. Three distinct timeframes were used to record the traffic data using camcorders. The LOS (Level of Service) was determined using the volume limit proportion technique. An extensive information analysis reveals that the traffic at this crossing point is non-path based and diverse. Buses make up the majority of vehicles (37%), followed by cars (20%) and trucks (15%) of all traffic. When compared to other approaches, Dhaka's technique works better and displays the worst LOS (Level of Service). The research outlines the useful ramifications of these discoveries and directs the transport planners appropriately.
