A Cloud of Things (CoT) Approach for Monitoring Product Purchase and Price Hike
(Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems, Springer, 2020-05-15) Sadeq, Muhammad Jafar; Kabir, S. Rayhan; Haque, Rafita; Ferdaws, Jannatul; Akhtaruzzaman, Md.; Forhat, Rokeya; Allayear, Shaikh Muhammad
Price hike is common and one of the major issues all over the world. The prices of daily necessities are increasing day by day. Many shops, restaurants and transport systems are charging extra price from the customers over the products’ expected or maximum retail price. Moreover, in special occasions, such as festivals, the sellers take high price from customers. Furthermore, unauthorized VAT or other taxes are charged on products on which such taxes are exempted by the government. This study proposes a Cloud of Things (CoT)-based model for monitoring the products’ price during transactions, where a cloud server maintains historical pricing data and maximum retail prices. Two algorithms run on the server based on live invoice data from sellers and customer feedback to detect unfair price hike.

Design, Simulation, and Analysis of Different Operational Factors of a 4-bit Carry Look-Ahead Adder Circuit in Microwind at Several CMOS Technology Nodes
(IOSR, 2021-10-31) Bhuyan, Muhibul Haque; Akhtaruzzaman, Md.
In Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) technology, the main objective is to shrink the area and thereby to raise the packing density for performance improvement in terms of power consumption, noise, delay, operating frequency, etc. A carry look-ahead adder circuit is an important block in any digital circuit. It improves the parallel addition process. Since the number of bits in various digital circuits is being increased, as such, we need millions of transistors to perform several functions in parallel. But it increases the need for surface area, power consumption, noise, and other factors. Therefore, we need to reduce the transistor size to alleviate these problems. In this research article, we designed a 4-bit carry look ahead full adder circuit at several technology nodes using Proteus and then simulated it in Microwind. The designed circuit and layout are presented here. Besides, various operational factors are obtained to observe the benefits of the transistors’ size decrement. The layouts are converted and simulated at130 nm, 90nm, 65nm, and45nm CMOS technology nodes. From the comparative analysis, we observed that the reduction of the CMOS technology nodes increases the performance factors of the designed carry look-ahead adder circuit.

English Phobia among the School Children of Rural Areas in Bangladesh
(University of Rajshahi, 2012) Akhtaruzzaman, Md.; Yasmeen, Shahnaz
In this era of information and communication technology, English is a lingua franca. So, it goes without saying that learning English is essential for us and we must learn English well to keep pace with the advancing world. Despite a lot of efforts to boost up teaching and learning of English after independence, there has been no noteworthy improvement in the field. English, a compulsory discipline from the elementary to the tertiary level in Bangladesh now, is always a subject triggering tremendous phobia among the rural school children of our country irrespective of past and present. As a consequence, most of the students do badly in English. The deplorable situation prompts the researcher, an English teacher of a rural college, to conduct a study on it. The methodology of the study is the dovetail of theoretical and empirical study. The researcher develops the theoretical part of the thesis with relevant materials from a variety of books, papers, articles and magazines relating to the topic. The substantial data for the empirical study are gathered through field survey employing schedules, FGD and observation methods. The thesis is organized into five chapters. The first chapter of the highlights the -background environment, of the research problem, statement of the problem, analysis of the problem – environment justification and rationale, feasibility, practicality, contributions, encapsulated research methodology, the outline of the research along with its scope and limitations plus necessity and its objectives coupled with research questions. The second chapter encompasses a review of relevant literature, which manifests the relationship between phobia and English language learning. Chapter III deals with the research methodology. Chapter IV sheds light on analysis of data and results. And Chapter V, the final chapter, wraps up the thesis yielding some recommendations for the improvement of English language teaching and learning in Bangladesh dispelling English phobia and giving some hints for further research for future researchers keen to work in this field.

EVALUATION OF DRYING CHARACTERISTICS AND QUALITY OF MAIZE DRIED BY TWO STAGE DRYING TECHNIQUES
(HAJEE MOHAMMAD DANESH SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY, DINAJPUR., 2018-03) Akhtaruzzaman, Md.; Prof. Dr. Md. Sazzat Hossain Sarker
Drying of freshly harvested maize is a great concern in all maize producing countries. This research was conducted to investigate suitable and efficient two-stage drying options for high moisture maize. First option was employed by fluidized bed drying and tempering followed by sun drying method and second option was carried out in fluidized bed dryer using variable temperature i.e fluidized bed drying at high temperature and tempering followed by further fluidized bed drying at low temperature. First stage drying in fluidized bed dryer was carried out using three temperatures (120, 140 and 1600C) at constant bed thickness of 7.0 cm. After first stage drying, all dried samples were immediately tempered for 45 minutes at grain temperature. Further, all the tempered samples were dried in second stage by sun drying method and in the same fluidized bed dryer using 65 ± 20C, respectively in first and second option of two stage drying. Drying performances in terms of drying time, effective moisture diffusivity and specific energy consumption of the drying options and quality of dried maize were evaluated. Drying results indicated that total drying time required 4.25 hours in first option and 1.41 hours in second option of two-stage drying technique. On the other hand, total drying time for single stage drying (complete sun drying method) required 10 hours. Effective moisture diffusivity of maize kernel was found to be ranged from1.05×10-08 m 2 /s to 1.15×10-08 m 2 /s and 4.4×10-08 m 2 /s to 6.3×10-08 m 2 /s in first and second option, respectively. Specific electrical energy consumption in terms of primary energy and specific thermal energy consumption varied from 0.13 MJ/kg to 0.35 MJ/kg and 0.28 MJ/kg to 0.68 MJ/kg water evaporated for the first stage of fluidized bed drying. Physical properties such bulk density and porosity of the dried product varied between two stage drying and sun drying option. Total color difference of the dried maize obtained from both the two stage drying options was higher (6.32±1.11) in contrast to the sun dried sample (3.64±0.49). The values of % crude protein (6.24±0.27) and % starch content (69.20±0.96) increased during two stages drying whereas amylose content (19.05±0.30 mg/100g) and β-carotene content (0.14±0.02) were found to be decreased in compare to control drying. Even though both the options yielded almost same quality dried product yet second option is preferable for quick drying using lower energy. Therefore, the proposed two-stage drying can be introduced as alternating drying techniques for high moisture maize in commercial drying complexes of Bangladesh. However, further study is required for design and development of commercial dryers to be used at farm level.

Green Synthesis of Lead Sulphide Nanoparticles for High-Efficiency Perovskite Solar Cell Applications
(Daffodil International University, 2022-06-05) Islam, Mohammad Aminul; Dilip Kumar Sarkar, Dilip Kumar; Shahinuzzaman, Md.; Wahab, Yasmin Abdul; Khandaker, Mayeen Uddin; Tamam, Nissren; Sulieman, Abdelmoneim; Amin, Nowshad; Akhtaruzzaman, Md.
In this study, lead sulfide (PbS) nanoparticles were synthesized by the chemical precipitation method using Aloe Vera extract with PbCl2 and Thiourea (H2N-CS-NH2). The synthesized nanoparticles have been investigated using x-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-Vis, energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDX), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). XRD and TEM results confirm that the films are in the cubic phase. The crystallite size, lattice constant, micro-strain, dislocation density, optical bandgap, etc. have been determined using XRD and UV-Vis for investigating the quality of prepared nanoparticles. The possible application of these synthesized nanoparticles in the solar cells was investigated by fabricating the thin films on an FTO-coated and bare glass substrate. The properties of nanoparticles were found to be nearly retained in the film state as well. The experimentally found properties of thin films have been implemented for perovskite solar cell simulation and current-voltage and capacitance-voltage characteristics have been investigated. The simulation results showed that PbS nanoparticles could be a potential hole transport layer for high-efficiency perovskite solar cell applications.

The Indian subcontinent is a south geographic part of Asia continent which consists of India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, and Maldives. Different rulers or the empire of different periods have built various buildings and structures in these territories like Taj Mahal (Mughal Period), Sixty Dome Mosque (Sultanate Period), etc. From archaeological perspectives, a computational approach is very essential for identifying the construction period of the old or ancient buildings. This paper represents the construction era or period identification approach for Indian subcontinent old heritage buildings by using deep learning. In this study, it has been focused on the constructional features of British (1858–1947), Sultanate (1206–1526), and Mughal (1526–1540, 1555–1857) periods’ old buildings. Four different feature detection methods (Canny Edge Detector, Hough Line Transform, Find Contours, and Harris Corner Detector) have been used for classifying three types of architectural features of old buildings, such as Minaret, Dome and Front. The different periods’ old buildings contain different characteristics of the above-mentioned three architectural features. Finally, a custom Deep Neural Network (DNN) has been developed to apply in Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) for identifying the construction era of above-mentioned old periods.

Integration of Block chain and Remote Database Access Protocol-Based Database
(2021) Sadeq, Muhammad Jafar; Kabir, S. Rayhan; Akter, Marjan; Forhat, Rokeya; Haque, Rafita; Akhtaruzzaman, Md.
Many companies are relying on software to manage their businesses. Usually, the software, especially those used by smaller companies, is not secure against unauthorized or unethical data manipulation on the database level. This paper recommends and demonstrates the use of block chain for securing small enterprises against hacking by alerting the management whenever a change is made to the data without using the authorized channels. This is done through block chain technology’s inherent hash replication and mining algorithm. The paper shows an application where this idea has successfully been implemented for a desktop application built upon a remote database access (RDA) protocol-based relational database management system (RDBMS) such as remote MySQL and remote Oracle database.

Multi-national analysis and machine learning-base prediction of oral cancer trend and incidence globally, in South Asia and Bangladesh and global
(BRAC University, 2024-08) Tshering, Dawa; Limbu, Sushila; Palden, Tshewang; Haque, Munima; Akhtaruzzaman, Md.
This proposal includes a comprehensive examination of oral cancer frequency and patterns from a multi-national perspective, particularly regarding Bangladesh. This study will mainly involve the usage of secondary data review; comparative analysis; and predictive modeling to compare aspects such as incidence rates, screening practices, and healthcare systems across nations. Machine Learning algorithms can predict the future trends of oral cancer until 2030. A detailed analysis of 54 oral cancer patients in Bangladesh has revealed essential demographic, clinical, and treatment factors. The majority of differences were observed in the aged of diagnosis, sex distribution, duration of treatment, frequency of screenings, incidence and survival rates. It was revealed that Bangladesh and Afghanistan recorded early diagnoses of cancer due the higher tobacco use while developed countries showed it is late due to the early detection techniques. In developed countries, early detection screening is common, unlike South Asian nations which practice symptomatic screening only. The rising death rates indicate inadequate medical facilities in South Asian countries like Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Predictive modeling indicates that by 2030 there will be a global rise in the incidence of oral cancer due to some risk factors like tobacco use, alcohol intake as well as human papillomavirus (HPV) exposure. Between the years 2023 and 2030, it is expected that the incidence in Bangladesh will increase by 4 percent. The leading public health programs should aim to increase the uptake of HPV vaccination, lowering betel nut consumption, and encourage exercise. These results call for an all-inclusive public health policy toward the prevention, early detection, and efficient management of oral carcinoma.

Navigating Challenges and Promises for Next-Generation CsPbIBr2 Perovskite Solar Cells: A Review
(Wiley, 2024-09) Aamir, Muhammad; Hossain, Mohammad Ismail; Akhtaruzzaman, Md.; Rafij, Junayed Hossain; Uddin, Jamal; Akhtar, Javeed; Amin, Nowshad; EL Ganaoui, Mohammad; Nunzi, Jean-Michel; Taima, Tetsuya; Shahiduzzaman, Md.
Given the increasing demand for electricity due to modernization and population growth, there is an urgent need to develop renewable energy conversion technologies such as photovoltaics. Among these technologies, CsPbIBr2, an all-inorganic lead halide-based perovskite, has shown promise due to its thermal stability, phase stability, and ease of fabrication. However, challenges remain, particularly in addressing device hysteresis and stability. Novel materials and optimized device designs could help overcome these challenges. This comprehensive review discusses strategies such as interface engineering, film quality improvement, compositional engineering, defect passivation, band alignments, and metal ion doping to enhance the performance of CsPbIBr2-based perovskite films and, in turn, their potential for photovoltaic applications.

Revealing the full potential of CsPbIBr2 perovskite solar cells: advancements towards enhanced performance
(Royal Society of Chemistry, 2024-06) Hossain, Mohammad Ismail; Shahiduzzaman, Md.; Rafij, Junayed Hossain; Tamang, Asman; Akhtaruzzaman, Md.; Hamad, Almohamadi; Uddin, Jamal; Amin, Nowshad; Nunzi, Jean-Michel; Taima, Tetsuya
Cesium lead iodide bromide (CsPbIBr2) perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have improved stability compared to other perovskite compositions. However, they still face significant challenges due to their poor photovoltaic performance parameters, which limit the devices’ power conversion efficiencies (PCEs). This study proposes a novel device design to tailor the potential of CsPbIBr2 PSCs by improving their optoelectronic properties. An advanced 3D multiphysics approach was rigorously used to investigate the optics and electrical properties of the proposed CsPbIBr2 PSCs. This approach combines finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) and finite element method (FEM) techniques with the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. The outcome from the adapted numerical approach is in good agreement with the experimental results. The optimized CsPbIBr2 PSC demonstrates a promising power conversion efficiency (PCE) of over 16.4%, associated VOC of 1.53 V, FF of 80.6%, and JSC of 13.4 mA cm2. Therefore, the potential of CsPbIBr2 perovskites could be further explored with continued research and development in material science and device physics.

    Treatment and textile liquid waste
(Department of Civil Engineering, 2006-03) Akhtaruzzaman, Md.; Hossain, Dr. Md. Delwar
Untreated or poorly treated effluent from textile industries is severely polluting the water courses of Bangladesh. Regular operation of well designed effluent treatment plant is necessary to reduce the pollution problem of Bangladesh. Lack of information on treatment efficiencies of different treatment options causes hindrance for the designers to select appropriate treatment units. This study represents an attempt to evaluate the efficiencies of two most widely used treatment methods. physicochemical treatment and physicochemical treatment followed by biological treatment method. The study also tried to identify simple and cost effective treatment method for the treatment of textile liquid waste. Investigations were made to evaluate the characteristics of textile liquid waste through literature review and laboratory tests. Textile liquid waste contains high biochemical oxygen demand and total suspended solids which can severely pollute the nearby water courses if discharged without proper treatment. High color and turbidity presence in the discharged effluent affect of the image of the industry. National effluent discharge standard for textile industries were reviewed to determine the extent of treatment required for textile liquid waste. Some serious limitations exist in the national effluent discharge standard for textile industries and needs to be fixed as soon as possible. Raw liquid waste was collected from a textile industry and physico-chemical and biological treatment processes were applied in the laboratory by varying different design parameters such as coagulant. dose. aeration time. Chemical coagulation with alum was used for physico-chemical treatment and sequencing batch reactor (SBR) unit was used for biological treatment. Treatment efficiencies were determined using post treatment pollutant concentration and were represented as percent of raw concentration of pollutant. BODs. COD. TDS, TSS, color and turbidity was taken as indicators in the assessment of treatment efficiencies of diffl1rent treatment options. Only physicochemical treatment is not adequate and subsequent biological treaLment is necessary for the treatment of textile liquid waste. Chemical coagulation can remove TSS up to 43 percent, COD up to 55 percent and BOD up to 3 j percent of raw wastewaLer concenLration. Il1lroduction of sequencing batch reactor treatment improves the removal of TDS up to 17 percent. TSS up to 15 percent, COD up to 23 percent and BODs up Lo54 percent. 70 percenL color can be removed by chemical coagulation. A comparative study between conventional activated sludge process and sequencIng batch reactor (SBR) process was carried out. The study focused in the area requirement, treatment efficiencies and operational cost aspects of those Lwo processes. The study result showed that the SBR process is more economical than activated sludge process as treatment efficiencies and operational cosL of the two units are approximately identical but area requirement in SBR system is less than that of activated sludge process.
