Item A Unified Approach to Improve the Computation Time and Image Quality of Ultrasound Strain Imaging(Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Board Bazar, Gazipur-1704, Bangladesh, 2012-11-15) Arfin, Rishad; Ahmed, Rifat; Hossan, MonirMedical science relies on technology now more than ever. For both diagnosis and treatment blessing of technology is exploited. Diagnosis of disease using technology comes in various forms. Imaging is a particularly attractive diagnosis methodology. Among the existing diagnostic imaging techniques ultrasound has gained much popularity over the years. Apart from the regular ultrasound imaging techniques ultrasound has some special use. Elastography is such an application of ultrasound. It is actually the imaging of the stiffness of the tissue. Elastography is particularly efficient in diagnosing early cancer particularly breast and prostate cancer. For example, breast cancer is diagnosed by invasive biopsy. But elastography can reduce the rate of biopsy since a large fraction of the tumors of breast are found to be benign. Unlike biopsy elastography provides instant result. It relieves the patient from psychological stress to wait for the result. But elastography is much of a qualitative technique. It can be unreliable at some cases. That’s why extensive research is being performed to improve its quality. In our thesis we have worked on two different aspects of the research. We have presented a software tool that can be used for improving the computation time in elastography. Also, we have proposed a concept of using smooth window functions to improve the image quality and presented some experimental results.Item Damaged road detection using Image Processing and Deep Learning(BRAC University, 2022-01) Swadesh, Shimran Mahbub; Ahmed, Rifat; Hossain, MD. Imran; Rahman, MD. Raihan; Rodoshi, Ahnaf; Mostafa, NafisComputer Science has evolved enormously in the last few decades. It has now far exceeded the Human and Computer interfaces. Its recent sights are scaling, measuring, object detection, etc. Image processing and deep learning have gone through many groundworks in the last few years. Our research paper, based on YOLO V4, LeNet-5, Retina Net, and Faster-RCNN algorithms, proves that these algorithms can detect damaged roads and analyze whether we can enhance any new ways to improve the damaged road detection in real-time. However, in a real-world scenario, it is essential to comprehend the various damages in taking the appropriate action. Thus automotive industries are looking forward to innovations that can increase the efficiency in damage categorization. Along with worldwide industrialization, road damage detection systems have become significantly important both in terms of maintenance and establishment. As the Artificial Intelligence sector is making a lot of progress, faulty road detection through Image Processing and Machine Learning has proved to be a flourishing technique. We can detect damaged roads within specific provisional categories with combinations of such technological stems. In our solution, we propose a futuristic deep learning method for object recognition with the help of four different algo rithms. More specifically, our approach uses a convolutional neural network to train our model with a large dataset solely made for the project and categorize the results into a set of damages along with its comparative analysis.Item Does Teacher’s Educational Qualification Matter in Primary Classroom?(Center for Pedagogy (CP) Established under the Sub-project Titled “Pedagogical Development at Undergraduate and Master’s Level” (CP3357) Independent Univeristy, Bangladesh (IUB), 2016-09-22) Fawzia, Maliha; Ahmed, RifatIt has been assumed that teacher’s pay and educational qualification are two of the key factors behind a teacher’s good performance in the classroom. Therefore, it is commonly believed that a highly paid and highly qualified teacher has greater chances of securing high achievement in his or her classroom than a low income teacher with less educational qualification. The aim of the research was to find out what percentage of difference can be made in the students’ achievement through putting a better qualified teacher with high payment in a low income primary classroom setting. Hence, the research explores and compares between the classroom achievements of two different teachers with opposite educational qualification and pay scale. The research took place at an underprivileged primary school in Urban Dhaka. 16 third grade students of the two different teachers, equally divided by their merit position sat for an English literacy standardized test. The results are being compared between two classrooms in which, one has a highly paid teacher with high educational qualification, who teaches the class with various educational materials and additional books along with the existing government textbooks whereas, the other less privileged teacher teaches with only government curriculum textbooks in his class. The finding of the research gives an interesting aspect of how achievement in both of the classrooms differed with a substantial percentage. In addition, the research also finds the importance of a set of variables such as teacher training, student and teacher’s personal motivation, teacher-student relationship and family support, behind the achievement of a student.Item Performance Analysis of Energy Efficient Cross Layer Approach in WSN & Goodput Analysis in Two Way Relay Network(Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Board Bazar, Gazipur-1704, Bangladesh, 2014-11-15) Hossain, Md. Wahid; Rahim, Md. Abdul Ohab; Ahmed, RifatSurvivability is one of the critical issues and the most important research topics in the fields of wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Energy efficiency is one of the determining factors for survivability and lifetime of WSNs. In the WSNs, severe energy issue necessitates energy-efficient approach to fulfill application objectives. In this paper, we studied an Energy Optimization Approach based on Cross-Layer for Wireless Sensor Networks named as EOA, which consider the joint optimal design of the physical, medium access control (MAC), and routing layer. The focus of EOA is on the computation of optimal transmission power, routing, and duty-cycle schedule that optimize the WSNs energy-efficiency. Further we did the goodput analysis in Two-Way Wireless Relay network where two source nodes exchange their information via a relay node indirectly in Rayleigh fading channels. Both Amplify-and-Forward (AF) and Decode-and-Forward (DF) techniques have been analyzed in the TWRN employing a Markov chain model through which the network operation is described and investigated in depth. Automatic Repeat-reQuest (ARQ) retransmission has been applied to guarantee the successful packet delivery. The bit energy consumption and goodput expressions have been derived as functions of transmission rate in a given AF or DF TWRN. Numerical results are used to identify the optimal transmission rates where the bit energy consumption is minimized or the goodput is maximized.Item Technical Training at DESCO(East West University, 10/3/2011) Ahmed, Rifat; Ali, Mir Hasan; Bhuyan, Md. IktadirElectricity is the main key for development of a country. Proper supply of electricity has a positive impact on GDP of a country. In Bangladesh, we have a shortage of electricity production. Still only 6()01o of our entire populations are getting electricity. People, who are getting electric lines, are also facing a huge number of load shedding. After the liberation war, every government tried to improve power sectors but still Bangladesh is struggling. The most pressing problem in the power sector has been with the distribution system, which is characterized by heavy system loss and poor collection performance. Dhaka Electric Supply Company Ltd. (DESCO) was created in 1996 under company Act 1994 as a public Limited company to improve better revenue collection and better consumer service. DESCO purchases electricity from Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB). Then, electricity is transmitted from the Power plants to DESCO's receiving substations through the National Grid Power Grid Company Bangladesh Limited (PGCB) is in-charge of the National Grid any they receive charge for transmission of electricity through the National Grid. Then, DESCO distributes electricity to the consumers through its own distribution network and collects revenue against the electricity usage. We have done our internship with DESCO, which is a distribution company. We have seen a lot of operations of DESCO having a vast experience about how the distribution networks are maintained, Customer service, Administration, IT department, Grid and Substation maintenance, Control room operations etc. We have tried to cover all the operations of DES CO during our 100 hours internship.
