G.A pot experiment was designed in a 3® factorial combination with partial confounding to measure th« effect of N ( 0, 90, 180 kg/ha ), P and K ( each at 0, 22, 44 kg/ha ) on yield of oil and NPK contents of sesame seeds ( Sesamum indicum), individual application of N, P and K fertilizera produced significant impact on oil content of sesame seeds. Amongst them P showed its effectiveness most. N and P combinations were welleffective in increasing oil content. NPX at the highest levels was most promising in yielding oil. NPK at the medium rates also exhibited a nearly similar effect on oil content. N, P and K content of seeds were significantly varied by N application alone. In all respects, N ( 90 kg/ha ) plus PK ( each 22 kg/ha) played better in increasing the amounts of N, P and K in seeds.Item Impact of foliar application of growth promoters (KNap and GA3) and Nutrients on ZEA MAYS(Nuclear Science and Applications, 1989) Farid, A. M.; Mohsin, M.Foliar application of potassium naphthenate, gibberellic acid and nutrients made separately, or in combination with nutrients caused significant increase in various growth indices (except height and leaf number) and yield of Zea mays ( var. ganga ) over the control. The promoters proved to be superior to the nutrient solution. Of the two promoters, in general, gibberellic acid acted better with increasing concentration. Potassium naphthenate appeared to be much effective only at 2000 ppm. However, better results were not obtained when the promoters were applied with nutrients. M.Growth component of mustard plant ( Brassica juncea coss ) have been studied from a NPK field experiment. Addition of nitrogen significantly increased the height, number of branches and pod per plant. Phosphorus also had a similar positive effect but to a smaller extent. Potassium had, in contrast, decidedly negative effect for all the parameters studied. Correlation study revealed that formation of pod was directly influenced by the number of branch which was again dependent on the height of the plant. Maturation of the mustard seed was delayed by nitrogen while enhanced by phosphorus and potassium application.Item Impact of NPK fertilizers on mustard ( Brassica Juncea coas ) II. M.Accumulation of dry matter and yield of mustard seeds have been observed from a NPK field trial experiment. Addition of nitrogen significantly increased the production of dry matter at 35 days of growth. Higher the rate of nitrogen supplied, higher was the dry matter yield. No such marked effect due to phosphorus addition was recorded, Accumulation of dry matter at harvest was significatly increased mostly by either N or P alone or by their combination. In constrast, potassium in both th« stages of growth decreased the yield of dry matter. Nitrogen and phosphorus application stimulated yield of mustard seeds almost double. M.A field experiment following a pirtie.lly c D n t o u n d e d design w j s conducted to study the effect of NPK fertilizers on the oil and N, P, K, Ca and Mg contents of mustard seeds. Fertilizers showed an increase in oil content in most of the treatments, though not significantly. Increasing amount of eithar nitrogen or phosphorus decreased per cent oil content in seeds. However, both the nutrients together with potassium increased the same remarkbly. Concentration of N, P, K. Ca and Mg in seeds was not greatly influenced by fertilizer treatments. Effective oil yield was maximum in the plot receiving each of NPK at 131.4 kg/ha. In csntraat, K, NK and NP produced some growth retarding effect. N and NP combinations appeared to be effective in pod setting but P, K and PK combinations proved to be of no use in this respect. Yield of seeds was in general at par with pod setting. The highest yield was recorded at 224 kg/ha with each of N, P and K. Yield of seeds in general followed the same pattern as pod setting. The response was quasi-sigmoidal with organic matter and inocula. Amongst the single and dual combinations, Azotobacter cAroococctfw in the presence of organic matter performed better. Interaction of inocula, P and organic matter showed flattened to sharp sigmoidal change in the availability of , N. Both A. chroococcum and A. macrocytogenes in the presence of organic matter and higher dose of P exhibited better influence with well defined crest. Between the two inocula, Azotobacter chroococcum was more effective. M.; Khan, S.I.; Mandal, R.; Ali, F.The influence of the two species of Azotohacter (A. chroococcum and A. macrocytogenes), phosphorus, organic matter, and their combinations was examined on available P under laboratory conditions. In all the treatments available P increased upto 20 days and then decreased by the end of 30 days.
