Item An evaluation of insurance policies of Sun life Insurance Company(Daffodil International University, 2014) Abdullah, Md.his is a report on ““Evaluation of insurance policies of Sun life insurance company Ltd”. Sun Life insurance Company Ltd. has variety of life insurance alternatives such as Ordinary Life, LokoBima, and Life Takaful etc. We have calculated the required rations using Sun Life Insurance financial statement of 3 years (2010, 2011 and 2013) So that meaningful and expectable trend could be established and have found that Sun Life Insurance profitability ratio is like the profit margin and ROE has increase from 2010 to 2013. This is mainly because net profit margin increases.Item Antibiotic Use in Tertiary Care Hospitals in Bangladesh Revealing the Extent Through a Point Prevalence Survey(Elsevier, 2024-09-15) Sumon, Shariful Amin; Sarker, Supta; Chowdhury, A.B.M. Golam Dostogir"Background Prevalent use of antibiotics in hospitals results in antimicrobial resistance (AMR), rising mortality, and substantial financial burden. This study assessed the current pattern of antibiotic use among inpatients in tertiary hospitals in Bangladesh. Methods Between August and November 2022, we conducted a point prevalence survey in 4 tertiary hospitals in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The World Health Organization-directed point prevalence survey methodology and tools were followed for the data collection. Descriptive and multivariate statistics were performed using Stata version 15. Results Of 1,063 hospitalized patients, antibiotics were prescribed to 73.5% (781/1063, 95% confidence interval: 70.8-76.1) of patients. A total of 1,164 antibiotics were prescribed, and 49.1% of patients consumed multiple antibiotics. Only 31.4% of patients were prescribed antibiotics based on microbiology results. The reasons for antibiotic prescribing were mentioned only in 19.3% of patients. Infants (adjusted odds ratio: 8.52, P-value: <.001) and neonates (adjusted odds ratio: 4.32, P-value: <.001) were more likely to consume antibiotics compared to adults. Cephalosporins accounted for the majority (54.0%) of antibiotics used in hospitals. None of the hospitals had any antibiotic use guidelines. Conclusions Consumption of Watch group antibiotics empirically among all age groups demonstrates irrational antibiotic usage in Bangladeshi hospitals. Implementation of a tailored stewardship program, antibiotic use guidelines, and prescriber-patient awareness could improve the rational use of antibiotics."Item Application of combined GA and NAA treatments to improve yield and quality of Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.) 3(Discover Agriculture, 2024-08) Abdullah, Md.; Anik, Sultan Mahmud; Nishi, Nusrat Jahan; Jahan, Ishrat; Khatun, Mst. Ananya; Rahman, Md. Hassanur; Akther, FarjanaIn Bangladesh, okra is an important popular summer vegetable. However, traditional farming practices often lead to suboptimal yields. Thus, the study was designed to determine the ideal GA3 and NAA doses for accelerating okra growth, yield, and quality characteristics. A three-replication, randomized complete block design was adopted. Foliar sprays with three concentrations of GA3 (0 ppm, 150 ppm, and 250 ppm) and NAA (0 ppm, 150 ppm, and 250 ppm) were applied in 2022 and 2023. In comparison to the control, the combined application of GA3 @ 150 ppm and NAA @ 150 ppm improved plant height, leaf number, leaf area, branch number, internode length, bud number, pod number, pod length, pod diameter, and 1000 seed weight average over the two years. Furthermore, GA3 @ 150 ppm with NAA 150 ppm increased yield by 35.08% and 27.01% in 2022 and 2023 respectively, above the control. Combining NAA @ 150 ppm with GA3 resulted in higher levels of vitamin C, TSS, magnesium, and zinc by 19.31%, 81.2%, 22.73% and 21.43% in 2022 and 22.83%, 50.57%, 18.07%, 33.33% in 2023 respectively, compared to the control. In contrast, GA3 and NAA decreased potassium and calcium in both year when compared to the control. Overall, the results of this experiment indicated that using GA3 @ 150 ppm with NAA @ 150 ppm could enhance okra growth, yield, and quality. These findings provide insightful information for improving okra cultivation techniques and improving Bangladesh’s productivity in agriculture and food security.Item Assessment of seismic response of vertically irregular RC moment resisting frame structures(Department of Civil Engineering (CE), 2020-09-30) Abdullah, Md.; Siddique, Dr. Mohammad Al AminNow-a-days many structures are designed with vertical irregularity due to functional, aesthetic or economic reasons. However, damage or failure of a building may be triggered at the point of weakness induced by the vertical irregularity. In this thesis, a comprehensive numerical studies have been conducted to assess the seismic behavior of the structures with vertical irregularity. Stiffness, mass and geometric–three types of the vertical irregularities have been considered in this study. Stiffness irregularity cases have been considered due to sudden absence of masonry infill walls at open ground floor for parking facility. Bare, fully infilled and open ground floor (OGF) frames have been considered to assess the stiffness irregularity. Mass irregularity cases have been considered by applying a special superimposed dead load at mid storey level. Geometric irregularity cases have been considered due to presence of setback at top floor and mid floor level. 4, 6 and 10-storied reinforced concrete (RC) moment resisting frame buildings located at seismic zone 2 according to draft BNBC 2017 have been considered. All the frames were designed as an Intermediate Moment Resisting frame considering the response reduction factor (R) value of 5 as per draft BNBC 2017. Seismic analysis methods such as equivalent static, response spectrum, time history and nonlinear static or pushover analysis have been conducted. Open ground floor buildings were not always found with soft storey action as it depends on limits of storey stiffness ratio sets by the Code. Only 4 and 6-storied buildings with the open ground floor resulted extreme soft storey action. R values of 4, 6 and 10-storied bare frames and fully infilled frames were satisfied with the considered R = 5, whereas 4, 6 and 10-storied open ground floor (OGF) frames resulted R values of 3.01, 3.94 and 3.42, respectively were much lower than the considered R = 5. A decrease in R value in OGF frames was observed due to the stiffness irregularity caused by sudden absence of infill wall at the ground floor. Ratios of R values of 4, 6 and 10-storied bare frames to open ground floor (OGF) frames were found 1.71, 1.44 and 1.55, respectively. Therefore, special provision as per draft BNBC 2017 seems reasonably good agreement with the obtained results for the open ground floor buildings. Storey drifts of 4, 6 and 10-storied mass irregular frames were found 3.7%, 4.4% and 8.1%, respectively higher than those of the allowable drift limit. R value of 4, 6 and 10-storied mass irregular frames were found 2.31, 4.55 and 4.64, respectively lower than those of the regular one. R values of 4, 6 and 10-storied buildings with geometric irregular frames also provided lower values than those of the regular one. However, building with the setback at the top floor results higher reduction of R value than that of the mid floor level. A reduction of R value was obtained 39% for the 4-storied geometric irregular building with the setback at the top floor level.Item Conducting an analysis of the efficacy of current marketing campaigns for Tallykhata(BRAC University, 2024) Abdullah, Md.; Hossain, Md. I have gained a lot of knowledge about online and offline marketing also other functions of marketing during my internship program. I have learned about the organization, its culture and about the people, its environment, different marketing practices etc. Chapter 1 of this report covers details on the internship, including background information about me as a student, my supervisors, and the duties I was responsible for during these three months at TallyKhata. The company and its various departments, products, units, etc. were then covered in the second chapter. In the third chapter, I explained my research question, goals, and findings. I also offered some recommendations based on the findings that were problem-based. Due to the importance of marketing, this topic was the focus of the marketing campaign. This report covers the company's methodology as well as the difficulties and limitations encountered in the process. In addition, this study also detailed some of the issues resolutions. Smart ERP system will help SHAFIULLAH DYEING AND PRINTING to convert paper-based work to cloud base, they can save their time, expenses and will grow.Item Studies on the Effect of Reduction Cleaning on Disperse Dyed Polyester Fabric(Daffodil International University, 23-04-01) Shanto, Nadim Khan; Abdullah, Md.Polyester is a commonly used synthetic fiber in the textile industry due to its excellent properties such as high strength, durability, and low moisture absorption. However, the quality of dyed polyester can be compromised due to various factors, including residual impurities and unreacted dyes. Reduction cleaning is a common method used to remove these impurities and improve the quality of dyed polyester. This research investigates the effect of reduction cleaning on the color fastness and rubbing fastness of dyed polyester. The study involved the reduction cleaning of dyed polyester fabric using various reducing agents such as sodium hydrosulfite and sodium borohydride. The effectiveness of reduction cleaning was evaluated based on the change in color fastness and rubbing fastness of the fabric. The results indicate that reduction cleaning can significantly improve the color fastness and rubbing fastness of dyed polyester fabric. The color fastness test results show that the reduction cleaning process improved the colorfastness to washing, light, and perspiration. The rubbing fastness test results demonstrate that reduction cleaning significantly improved the resistance of the dyed polyester fabric to rubbing and friction. However, it is worth noting that there was a slight reduction in the tensile strength of the fabric after reduction cleaning. In conclusion, reduction cleaning is an effective method for improving the color fastness and rubbing fastness of dyed polyester fabric. The findings of this study can be useful for textile industries and researchers in improving the quality of dyed polyester fabrics. Further research is recommended to optimize the reduction cleaning process and minimize the negative impact on tensile strength.
