Item A STUDY ON MORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTERSTICS AND YIELD OF SOME BRINJAL VARIETIES(DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL BOTANY SHER-E-BANGLA AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY DHAKA-1207, 2015-06) AMIN, MD. RUHULAn experiment was carried out at the Research Farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka during March to October, 2014 to study the morphological characteristics and yield of brinjal varieties. The experiment included eight varieties viz., Green Round, Bankim Purple Long, Debjhuri Hajari, Black Magic, Muktojhuri, Green Express, Black Boy and Tal Begun. The experiment was laid out in Randomized complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. The brinjal variety, Green Express showed superiority over the rest varieties in most of the morphological parameters, yield components and yield. The highest plant height (60.67 cm), number of branches plant-1 (8.33), number of leaves plant-1 (77.00) and maximum individual leaf area (200.00 cm2) were observed in variety Green Express. The same variety accumulated the maximum amount of chlorophyll (6.57 mg g-1) in its leaves and which was closely followed by Black Magic (6.10). The maximum number of flowers plant-1 (41.00) and number of fruits cluster-1 (2.23) was found in the variety Green Express which was statistically similar to Black Magic (2.18) and Bankim Purple Long (2.13) respectively. The variety Green Express provided the highest number of fruit plant-1 (15.00). The largest fruit size (185.7 cm2) was also obtained from Green Express, which was statistically similar to Tal begun (178.70 cm2). Consequently, the maximum fruit yield (47.09 t ha-1) was achieved from the variety Green Express. The second highest fruit yield (38.79 t ha-1) was recorded from Black Magic and the minimum fruit yield (12.08 t ha-1) from Tal Begun.Item ADOPTION OF MODERN TECHNOLOGIES BY THE RICE CULTIVATORS IN THE SELECTED AREAS OF JHALOKATHI DISTRICT(DEPT. OF AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION & INFORMATION SYSTEM, 2015) AMIN, MD. RUHULThe purpose of this study was to determine the adoption of modern technologies by the rice cultivators in rice production and to explore the contribution of the selected characteristics of the cultivators with their adoption of modern technologies. The selected characteristics were age, level of education, family size, farm size, farming experience, annual income, organizational participation, communication exposure, training exposure and knowledge on modern rice cultivation technologies. Data were collected from 108 farmers of three villages namely Southpur, mathbari and pukharijana of Rajapur upazila under Jhalokathi district by using a pre-tested interview schedule. Descriptive analysis, multiple regression analysis was used for data analysis. More than half of the respondents (73.15%) had medium adoption where 15.74 percent had low adoption and only 11.11 percent had high adoption of modern technologies for rice cultivation. There is a significant contribution of level of education, communication exposure and knowledge on adoption of modern rice cultivation technologies and all of these were the most important contributing factors (significant at the 1% level). Training exposure and annual income were contributing factors (significant at the 5% level).Item ANALYSIS OF CREDIT MANAGEMENT POLICY AND PERFORMANCE OF JANATA BANK LIMITED: A STUDY IN THE CORPORATE BRANCH OF SHYAMOLI, DHAKA(2016) AMIN, MD. RUHULThe report is originated in result of my internship, which I have done, as a requirement of MBA (Agribusiness) program. This report is done based on my four months internship in Janata Bank Limited. During my stay at the office as an internee I never felt vague and ambiguous. The environment of the Janata Bank Ltd. is well and friendly. The staffs are specialized in their respective fields. Each of them works on their own and there id supervised from the top management. The motivation of the staff, I believe comes from the very sense of responsibility. The Janata Bank Limited is one of the leading public Banks operating in Bangladesh. All the aspects of Credit and Risk Management of JBL Like; rules, regulations activities, approval processes of loan, credit operation dept. and also credit collection dept., various product diversity and their facilities and recovery process of different types of loan etc. have been attached to this report. However, I‟ve done lots of financial calculations, observed their financial reports & from my working experience I also gathered knowledge about their administrative process of managing different issues. After preparing the whole report, I had some findings regarding the “Analysis of Credit Management Policy and Performance of Janata Bank Limited”. As an inexperienced person I may have made many mistakes in those findings, but whatever I felt from my point of view, I only pointed out those. Based on those findings, I recommended some points which may help the bank to remove their many shortcomings.Item EFFECT OF SOME SELECTED SEED TREATMENTS ON MAJOR DISEASES AND YIELD ATTRIBUTES OF HYBRID RICE (Var. Taj-l) IN AMAN SEASON(DEPARTMENT OF PLANT PATHOLOGY, 2010) AMIN, MD. RUHULAn investigation was carried out to evaluate the efficacy of some selected seed treatments on seed germination, seed borne pathogens, incidence and severity of major field diseases and yield contributing characters of imported hybrid aman rice (Taj-I) in the laboratory of Plant Pathology department and field of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University farm during the period from November 2009 to December 2010. Eleven seed treating agents viz. untreated control, sun drying, polythene solarization, brine solution, neem leaf extract, allamanda leaf extract, hot water treatment, Provax 200, Bavistin 50 WP, Dithane M 45 and Trichoderma harzianum were evaluated for their effect on seed germination and incidence of seed borne pathogens in vitro as well as disease incidence and severity at 3 stages and on yield contributing characters in vivo. Nine seed borne pathogens namely bacteria (unidentified), Rhizopus stolonifer, Aspergillus spp., Fusarium moniliforme, Phoma sp., Bipolaris oryzae, Curvularia lunata, Penicillium sp. and Alternaria tenuissima were recorded and identified in blotter and agar plate method of seed health study. In blotter and . agar plate method the highest ·seed germination (94.60%) and (91.45%), respectively were recorded under Dithane M 45 and the lowest (77.31 %) and (78.32%) were recorded under untreated control. The highest pathogen incidence was observed under untreated control and all the treatments significantly reduced the pathogen incidence except polythene solarization and sun drying treated seed. Dithane M. 45, Bavistin 50 WP, Provax 200 and hot water treatment showed the best performance in reducing seed borne pathogen incidence in both the methods of seed health testing. Five field diseases viz. brown spot (Bipolaris oryzae), narrow brown spot (Cercospora oryzae), leaf blast (Pyricularia grisea), BLB (Xanthomonas campestris pv. oryzae), and sheath blight (Rhizoctonia solani) were recorded and identified. The disease incidence and severity of brown spot at maturity stage were recorded from 5.48% to 13.89% and 0.91 to 1.67 (0-9 scale), respectively where Dithane M 45, Bavistin 50 WP and Provax 200 showed good performance against the disease. In case of leaf blast, the disease incidence and severity ranged from 5.96% to 16.11% and 2.63 to 5.86 (0-9 scale), respectively at maturity stage where hot water treatment showed the lowest incidence (5.96%) and severity (2.63). Disease incidence and severity of sheath blight varied from 15.87% to 20.30% and 6.47 to 7.80 (0-9 scale), respectively at maturity stage where hot water treatment showed the best result against the disease. Provax 200 was also effective followed by hot water treatment. In case of BLB, the disease incidence and severity ranged from 13.62% to 23.20% and 5.64 to 8.29 (0-9 scale), respectively at maturity stage where none but hot water treatment was effective against the disease. In case of narrow brown leaf spot, the disease incidence and severity ranged from 1.49% to 7.79% and 0.63 to 3.44 (0-9 scale), respectively at maturity stage where three fungicides and hot water treatment effectively managed the disease.The highest growth and yield contributing characters were recorded under the fungicidal seed treatment followed by hot water treatment considering plant height, panicle length, effective panicle and filled grain. Grain yield ranged from 7.27 t/ha to 10.40 tfha. Under different treatments, the highest grain yield (10.40 t/ha) was recorded under Dithane M 45 followed by Bavistin 50 WP and Provax 200. The lowest grain yield (7.27 t/ha) was found under polythene solarization which was statistically identical with untreated control. It was observed that disease incidence and severity was gradually increased from flowering stage to maturity stage with the age of the plant and minimum incidence and severity gave the maximum yield.Item EFFECT OF SULPHUR AND BORON ON THE GROWTH AND YIELD OF MUNGBEAN VARIETIES(DEPARTMENT OF AGRONOMY, 2015-06) AMIN, MD. RUHULThe experiment was conducted during the period from March to June, 2014 at the research farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU), Dhaka to find out the effect of sulphur and boron on the growth and yield of mungbean varieties. The experiment comprised of two factors i.e. Factor A: Sulphur and boron (combination-4); F 1 = NPK, F 2 = NPK+S, F 3 = NPK+B and F = NPK+S+B; Factor B: Mungbean varieties-4; V 1 = BARI Mung-5, V 2 4 = BARI Mung-6, V = Binamoog-8 and V = BU Mung-4. The two factors experiment was laid out in a split-plot design with three replications. Data on different growth and yield parameters were recorded and significant variation was recorded for different treatments. In case of sulphur and boron, the highest seed yield (1.69 t ha 4 ) was recorded from F 4, whereas the lowest (1.57 t ha -1 ) from F which may be occurred due to highest and lowest 1000-seed weight, number of pods plant 1 , number of seeds plant -1 . For different varieties of mungbean, the highest seed yield (1.79 t ha -1 ) was recorded from V 3 , while the lowest (1.33 t ha which may be occurred due to highest and lowest 1000-seed weight, number of pods plant -1 , number of seeds plant -1 . Due to the interaction effect of sulphur and boron combination and mungbean varieties, the highest seed yield (1.92 t ha ) was observed from the treatment combination of F 4 V , whereas the lowest (1.12 t ha -1 ) from F 4 V 4 2 which may be occurred due to highest and lowest 1000-seed weight, number of pods plant -1 , number of seeds plant -1 . Application of NPK+S+B and Binamoog-8 was more potential in regarding growth and yield of mungbean. -1 -1 ) from V 3 -1 -1 4Item WOMEN EMPOWERMENT THROUGH MICROFINANCE IN SOME SELECTED AREAS OF BOGURA DISTRICT IN BANGLADESH(DEPARTMENT OF DEVELOPMENT & POVERTY STUDIES, SHER-E-BANGLA AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY, DHAKA-1207, 2020-06) AMIN, MD. RUHULThe objectives of this study were to describe the selected characteristics of the women; to determine the level of empowerment of women through microfinance. The study was conducted in Shibganj upazilla under Bogura District. Data were collected by using interview schedule from the randomly selected 80 respondents during 1 November to 30 th December, 2019. Multiple regression model was used in the study. The higher proportion 52.5 percent of the women had medium empowerment; while 26.25 percent of the women had low empowerment and 21.25 percent of the women had high empowerment through microfinance program. Among selected characteristics of the respondent’s viz. number of loan-taking purposes, age, education, annual family income, credit received and decision-making ability of the respondents had significant positive contribution with their empowerment. Loan repayment period was very short and was the 1 st problem followed by high rate of interest and lack of intention to serve in the apparently inaccessibly location was the last problem. So, the policy makers should consider these important factors to increase women empowerments. st
